MONTREAL -- Bologna striker Marco Di Vaio is considering a move to Montreal that would make him the Impacts first designated player. Troy Polamalu Womens Jersey . Di Vaio told a news conference in Italy that he would not return to his Italian Serie A club for 2013, and that Montreals Major League Soccer expansion team was an interesting. Montreals technical director Nick De Santis said theres an offer on the table for the 35-year-old player, who plans to visit the city with his family at the end of May. "I know that there are other offers on the table for him to pursue his career," De Santis told a media conference call. "I just hope that the next step, coming to Montreal, shows him that we are a club that are very serious in moving ourselves along as a professional club in North American soccer." Should Di Vaio sign with Montreal, he would not be eligible to play in MLS until July since the transfer window is currently closed. The Montreal offer is for a year and half, plus two more at the clubs option. Di Vaio, who leads Bologna with 10 goals, would give Montreal a third Italian player after forward Bernardo Corradi and defender Matteo Ferrari. Di Vaio and Ferrari played together at Parma in the early 2000s. De Santis noted Di Vaio had basically scored a goal every two games in recent season "in one of the toughest leagues in the world to score in." He also said the Italian had "the mentality of a warrior," noting he has stayed with Bologna in recent years to help them fight relegation. "Hes been their main catalyst scoring important goals, leading this team, a young team, and hes got all the details and personality to help our team move along as well." De Santis expressed confidence that Montreal had a shot at Di Vaio. "When a player is willing to come in and see the city and meet the club and discussions weve had, we feel pretty positive," he said. "You never know at the last minute, thats why I told you weve spoken to other players as well to keep in consideration but of course Marco is one of them that we have a high interest in." Mike Wallace Womens Jersey . Italy coach Cesare Prandelli says he wishes the 21-year-old forward well, "but he needs to improve and this is a change I have to make." Balotelli wasted several chances in the first half of Italys 1-1 draw with Croatia on Thursday, appearing hesitant in front of goal. Keenan Lewis Jersey . Hope all of you have a safe, peaceful and enjoyable summer! Look forward to chatting more NBA hoops with you down the road. http://www.steelersroom.com/curtis-brown-jerseys . Mauri was released Monday after being arrested on May 28 along with 13 others. Guido Salvini, the judge for preliminary investigations in Cremona, says Mauris testimony is "scarcely plausible" and "appears to be created in hindsight. LaMarr Woodley Jersey . He could handle those things. What he couldnt handle was the unknown, that being how much his surgically repaired left knee could handle if he tried to play too soon. So with the Knicks already having lost guards Baron Davis and Iman Shumpert to serious knee injuries already in this series -- theres little chance Davis will play at all next season, and Shumperts availability for the start of next season would be considered highly doubtful at best -- Lin erred on the side of caution by not rushing a comeback against the Heat, a move that neither risks his knee or his earning potential this summer as a restricted free agent. David DeCastro Jersey . The Heat seem ready to listen. And Game 5 of the Eastern Conference finals -- which wouldnt be lacking for drama with Boston and Miami tied at two games apiece -- may have another significant layer of intrigue. WINNIPEG -- The Winnipeg Jets have signed Olli Jokinen to a two-year deal worth US$9 million. Winnipeg added the veteran Finnish centre Monday on the second day of NHL free agency. Jets general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff was looking for an upgrade in size among his top-six forwards and feels he found it with the six-foot-three, 210-pound Jokinen. "He has the size, hes got a tremendous amount of experience, hes had great consistency over the years," said Cheveldayoff during a conference call. "We believe that with adding the size of (free agent Alexei Ponikarovsky) and now Jokinen, were a much bigger and harder team to play against." The move represents Winnipegs biggest signing since free agency opened on Sunday, when they inked forward Ponikarovsky and defenceman Derek Meech. "Very excited about joining the Winnipeg Jets and getting a chance to play in front of the loudest fans in Canada!" tweeted Jokinen on Monday. Jokinen has scored 20 or more goals in seven of his 14 NHL seasons with Calgary, the L.A. Kings, New York Islanders, Florida, Phoenix, and the New York Rangers, where he was traded to by the Flames during the 2009-2010 season. Calgary brought Jokinen back the next season and he finished with 17 goals and 54 ppoints. Cameron Heyward Jersey. Cheveldayoff will not only look to Jokinen for leadership among the Jets young roster, but to help increase production among the teams established forwards like 30-goal scorer Evander Kane. "Any time you can add a player of this stature, a player that has abilities to make plays and to score, it creates other opportunities for players like Evander," said Cheveldayoff. "You have to respect players like Olli when theyre on the ice all the time, and I think that attention helps other players to play their game as well." The contract marks a substantial pay increase for the 33-year-old who decided to test free agency after parting ways with the Flames. He made $3 million last season in Calgary, where he had a strong year with 23 goals and 61 points. The Flames filled the hole left by Jokinens departure by signing centre Jiri Hudler to a $16-million, four-year deal. Cheveldayoff added that part of the reason Jokinen chose Winnipeg was because he wanted to be part of a young team with a bright future. "Hes very excited about being at the forefront of a group that has young players; that has a chance to continue to grow and get better and hes really looking forward to contributing in that regard."
