CHICAGO -- Nate Jones is willing to put up with whatever grief his teammates dish out -- as long as it means wins for the Chicago White Sox. Eli Manning Red Jersey . Tyler Flowers hit a go-ahead homer just before the final downpour and Chicago beat the Seattle Mariners 4-3 in a rain-shortened game Sunday for its sixth straight victory. Jones (7-0) escaped a seventh-inning jam after inheriting runners on first and third with nobody out. He earned his second win in two days. "As a reliever, if you get the win they usually call you The Vulture for the next day or two," Jones said. "But any way that we can get the wins as a team is what we want, no matter who gets it, the starter or the reliever. "They pick on me a little bit. It happens. But Ill take it." The young flamethrower struck out Trayvon Robinson looking after inducing a pair of soft popups. The Mariners had won 10 of 11 before being swept by Chicago. All three games were decided by one run. "With his stuff, hes one of those guys that can do that," White Sox slugger Paul Konerko said, referring to Jones. "It was big because it was a game-changing situation right there. He kept us in it." The White Sox retained their 2 1/2-game lead in the AL Central over the Tigers, who beat the Los Angeles Angels 5-2. Chicago starter Gavin Floyd, however, left after two innings with right elbow discomfort. Floyd said it was in the same area that cost him a stint on the disabled list in July. He will remain in Chicago to have tests done on Monday. "It kind of started bothering me a little bit in the first inning, late in the first. And then the second inning, it really started to kind of affect me," Floyd said. "I felt it every time I threw a breaking pitch or even a fastball a little bit." Capser Wells hit a two-run homer for Seattle. Immediately following a 6-minute rain delay in the seventh inning, Flowers launched a two-run shot off Kevin Millwood to lead first-place Chicago to its second consecutive series sweep. Rain continued to pour until the tarp was put on to stay two batters later, and the game was called after a wait of nearly 2 hours. The start was delayed for 1 hour, 51 minutes due to showers that persisted throughout the game before it was finally stopped. "You cant draw this up. Guys just battled," Chicago manager Robin Ventura said. "With everybody in the bullpen and what theyre doing, its nice." Floyd allowed a pair of singles to start the game, and Dustin Ackley scored on Jesus Monteros infield single. Floyd limited the first-inning damage to one run despite giving up three hits and a walk. He pitched a 1-2-3 second, but did not return for the third. The team announced right elbow discomfort for the 29-year-old, who was relieved by Hector Santiago. Santiago was flawless through his first two innings, but ran into trouble in the fifth. Wells sent a 3-2 pitch into the left-centre seats following Justin Smoaks leadoff single. It was his eighth home run of the year. Millwood (4-11) allowed four runs -- three earned -- over 6 2-3 innings. He has just one win in his last 16 starts. "I wish we could have finished it off," Mariners manager Eric Wedge said. "Our kids are playing so hard right now. Theyre fighting. We could have won all three of these games, too." Alex Rios reached 20 homers and 20 steals in the second inning when he stole second base. He later scored on Jordan Danks sacrifice fly. Rios joined Ray Durham and Magglio Ordonez, who both accomplished the feat in 2001, as the only White Sox players to have at least 30 doubles, 20 homers and 20 stolen bases in a season. Rios also went 20-20 in 2010 with Chicago, finishing with 29 doubles. Kevin Youkilis tripled home a run in the third inning. Seattle right fielder Eric Thames misplayed the shallow liner that bounced all the way to the wall as Ray Olmedo scored from first. NOTES: Ventura was unsure if his ejection from Saturdays win over the Mariners would yield a suspension. He was tossed in the third inning after catcher A.J. Pierzynski was ejected for arguing balls and strikes. Ventura said he didnt bump umpire Jim Joyce despite an aggressive argument. "It was more of a dance than it was a bump," Ventura said. ... White Sox LF Dayan Viciedo (shoulder) was out of the lineup for a second consecutive day. Ventura said Viciedo felt soreness in his right shoulder during batting practice Saturday. The injury is considered minor. ... Mariners CF Michael Saunders missed a second straight start due to a groin issue. He was injured Friday. Manager Eric Wedge said he hopes Saunders can start Monday in Minnesota. The Mariners will send Felix Hernandez (12-5, 2.54 ERA) to the mound against the Twins Liam Hendricks (0-6, 7.06). ... Francisco Liriano (5-10, 5.12) starts for the White Sox on Monday in Baltimore against Wei-Yin Chen (12-7, 3.87). Eli Manning Jersey . And, more importantly, its full. On an otherwise ho-hum day of qualifying, nine cars made the field on their first attempts, ending any potential last-minute drama and assuring the May 27 race would start with a full field of 33 cars for 64th consecutive year. Antrel Rolle Jersey . Jennings has been out since May 12 because of a sprained left knee. The Rays went 12-13 in his absence -- the team is also playing without slugger Evan Longoria for nearly as long. The Rays optioned outfielder Rich Thompson to Triple-A Durham on Tuesday to clear a spot for Jennings. http://www.newyorkgiantsgears.com/andre-brown-jersey/ . 1 Maria Sharapova and outgoing former top-ranked star Kim Clijsters bowed out of The Championships on Monday, while reigning champion Petra Kvitova and four-time winner Serena Williams moved into the quarterfinals at Wimbledon 2012. Lawrence Tynes Jersey . -- The Los Angeles Lakers signed seven-foot Canadian centre Robert Sacre on Friday. Hakeem Nicks Elite Jersey . Barcelona had 62 per cent of possession but failed to score in a Champions League match for the first time in 2 1/2 years. When the Spanish side did create chances at San Siro, it was thwarted by Milans experienced defence, goalkeeper Christian Abbiati and some lenient refereeing from Jonas Eriksson. ARLINGTON, Texas -- The Texas Rangers are getting used to the consistently good starts Colby Lewis has been giving them lately. Lewis gave up three hits and walked one while striking out 10 in seven innings, Ian Kinsler had a three-run triple and Adrian Beltre hit a two-run homer in a seven-run sixth inning, and the Rangers beat the Houston Astros 9-3 on Sunday. Lewis (6-5), who won his second straight outing, has a 2.25 ERA while going 3-2 over his last six starts. He kept the Rangers in the game when the team couldnt take advantage of opportunities in earlier innings against Astros rookie pitcher Dallas Keuchel, who was making his major-league debut. "He was outstanding," Rangers manager Ron Washington said of Lewis. "We (had) opportunities earlier against (Keuchel) . the kid made some pitches. "But Colby stayed steadfast and kept us around." The Rangers won for the sixth time in seven games after limping into June with injuries and losing six of 10 on a road trip to start the month. Kinsler had two hits and went 4 for 9 the last two games after an 0-for-14 stretch. He began the day hitting .227 in his previous 18 games. "You have to keep grinding, keep putting the pressure on them and something good happens," Washington said. "Today it was Kinsler. You just have to keep grinding." Beltre, who also singled in the eighth, has hit safely in 10 of his last 12 games. Carlos Lee, in his first game back after missing time on the disabled list with a strained hamstring, went 2 for 4 with two RBIs as the Astros designated hitter. Lewis has struck out 84 and walked 12 in 96 innings, giving him a major league-leading strikeouts-to-walks ratio. His only walk Sunday, with one out in the fifth to Jason Castro, was followed by a two-base wild pitch. Matt Downs then blooped a single over a drawn-in infield on the right side to give the Astros a 1-0 lead. Lewis followed by retiring the last eight batters he faced. "Try to pound the strike zone and get some quick outs . thats my M.O.," said Lewis, who threw only 92 pitches. "Overall, it was a good day. I was able to hang around for the offence to put up a big number." The right-hander got into a bind in the second with runners on first and third with no outs after giving up leadoff singles to Lee and Brian Bogusevic. He followed, though, by striking out Justin Maxwell and Castro and then got an inning-ending grounder from Downs. Domenik Hixon Elite Jersey. "He takes the ball every fifth day," Kinsler said. "We know were going to get a quality start. Hes the rock of our rotation." Keuchel gave up four hits and four walks in five-plus innings, leaving after giving up a leadoff single to Nelson Cruz in the sixth. "Any time a guy can come in and do what he did in his first major league start, its a success," Astros manager Brad Mills said. "He had the bases loaded in the third and the fourth, and he walked four guys, but he battled through it. "He made pitches when he had to." Fernando Rodriguez (1-7) replaced Keuchel in the sixth and was charged with four runs in two-thirds of an inning. He walked Mike Napoli and -- after a sacrifice advanced the runners -- Craig Gentry to load the bases. Kinsler followed with his bases-clearing triple. After Elvis Andrus walked, Michael Young singled to drive in Kinsler, and Andrus scored when right fielder Bogusevic was slow getting the ball back to the infield. Beltre followed with his two-run shot into the left-field seats. Andrus had an RBI single in the seventh to make it 8-1. After Lees two-run single in the eighth, Yorvit Torrealbas added run-scoring grounder in the bottom of the inning. NOTES: Rangers OF Josh Hamilton was back with the team on Sunday but remained out of the lineup while still recuperating from an intestinal virus that required a stay in the hospital. He is expected to play Monday in the first game of the Rangers three-game series at San Diego, though manager Ron Washington said his status is day-to-day. ... Houston relievers had not allowed an inherited runner to score this season, stranding 16 before Cruz scored in the sixth. ... Houston pitching coach Doug Brocail was ejected in the top of the ninth inning -- with his team batting -- after charging out of the dugout to argue with home-plate umpire Dale Scott. ... Washington said RHP Neftali Feliz (sprained right elbow) is expected to begin a long-toss routine on Monday. The team will re-evaluate his status after a couple of weeks. ... Washington said the team has not determined how to use the rotation spot filled by rookie Justin Grimm on Saturday, which next comes up on Friday. There are a few options available, including calling up Roy Oswalt from Triple-A Round Rock. ' ' '
