(Sports Network) - The Chicago White Sox are picking a bad time to hit the tank and look to halt a three-game skid tonight against the LA Angels of Anaheim in the middle portion of a three-game series at the Big A. Kyle Rudolph Jersey . The White Sox are only 1 1/2 games ahead of the Detroit Tigers for the American League Central lead and dropped a 6-2 decision in Fridays series opener. Jake Peavy had an outing he would like to forget and gave up five runs and eight hits in five innings. Alejandro De Aza went 2-for-4 with a solo homer and Gordon Beckham knocked in a run for the White Sox, who couldnt solve Angels starter Ervin Santana. Santana struck out 11 batters, allowed one walk and surrendered just one run in seven innings of work. "We got our rear ends kicked," Chicago manager Robin Ventura said. "Santana was good, we couldnt get anything off him." Chicago had won five in a row before its recent slide. President Obama, a White Sox fan, picked Chicago and Washington to meet in the World Series. White Sox slugger Paul Konerko was back in the lineup after missing one game with a back issue and went 0-for-4. Toeing the rubber for the Pale Hose tonight will be Jose Quintana, who owns just one win in his previous six trips to the mound. He did not record a decision in Mondays 5-4 win over Detroit and gave up four runs in four innings of work. The rookie Quintana is 6-4 with a 3.69 earned run average in 22 games (20 starts) and is 3-1 in 11 games (10 starts) on the road. The left-hander will face the Angels for the first time. Meanwhile, the Angels still have hopes of making a playoff run and are 3 1/2 games off the final wild card berth in the American League. The Angels ended a two-game slide with last nights win and prevailed for the fifth time in eight tries thanks to a big night from Santana. "Great game from Ervin. He pitched a terrific game," Angels manager Mike Scioscia said. "He was able to throw his breaking ball and fastball effectively and kept them off balance." Mike Trout and Kendrys Morales both homered, while Albert Pujols and Torii Hunter each drove in a pair of runs for the Angels. Anaheim is 2-2 so far on a nine-game homestand and also will entertain the Seattle Mariners in L.A. Dan Haren draws the start for the Halos tonight and has won three of his past four starts, including a 4-3 victory at Kansas City on Sunday in which he yielded three runs -- two earned -- and five hits in 5 2/3 innings. Haren was able to even his record at 11-11 in his 27th start and has a 4.41 earned run average in that time. The right-handed Haren did not factor in the outcome of a 4-2 road loss against the White Sox on Aug. 5, when he tossed six innings of one-run ball. Haren is 1-1 with a 3.64 ERA in five career starts versus Chicago and just 4-8 in 14 road assignments this season. Chicago and Anaheim have split six meetings in 2012. Chuck Foreman Jersey . Lowe pitched three-hit ball into the eighth inning and the Indians scored three runs on errors to beat the Los Angeles Angels 4-0 Sunday. John Randle Jersey . They figure to be more of a speed bump than a road block. The BCS commissioners will present their four-team playoff proposal to the presidential oversight committee Tuesday in Washington. http://www.nflnikeminnesotavikings.com/antoine-winfield-jerseys-1 . This week, Chelsea, United and City all show their class in impressive victories. STORIES OF THE WEEK: Leading the Premier League can be a weekly test of nerves, and so it was for top of the table Chelsea when they fell behind 1-0 at home against Norwich after Grant Holt smashed home an opening goal just 11 minutes into the contest. Christian Ponder Youth Jersey . -- Lionard Pajoy scored in the 50th minute, and Bill Hamid made eight saves to help D. Percy Harvin Jersey . After the three quarters of play, the Americans lead was just six (78-72). The two teams battled back and forth for the first six minutes of the fourth quarter until Miami Heat forward LeBron James and Team USA took over. MILAN, Italy -- AC Milan recorded a much-needed win in beating Genoa 1-0 to move into the top half of the Serie A on Saturday. Stephan El Shaarawys sixth league goal of the season on his 20th birthday handed Milan only its third win in nine matches. The young striker refused to celebrate and left the field at the end of the game with tears in his eyes. El Shaarawy spent almost his entire youth career at Genoa, where he also made his Serie A debut. "Im a bit moved, its been the best birthday of my life. Im emotional and happy, both with the victory and the goal," El Shaarawy said. "Is this my Milan? Im happy people are saying that. Im just trying to give my all and put myself at the disposal of the coach. "Maybe Ive helped (Massimiliano) Allegri, there have been so many stories about him, but I dont think he was ever in doubt because the club has always shown its confidence in the coach." Milan also had two decent penalty claims turned down in an otherwise dull match at San Siro. There was still plenty to worry about for coach Allegri, not least in defence, which again looked shaky. However, he was still at the helm following reports he was facing the axe if Milan failed to win. "Its a deserved victory," Allegri said. "Up until now the criticism has been excessive considering what the lads have done on the pitch. We could have scored in the first half, there were several dubious penalty incidents, we also made several mistakes in our passing. Today, there was a difficult atmosphere so Im happy the lads reacted. "I was very calm because the team had always put on good performances. We need to find confidence, especially in front of goal. With goals everything becomes easier." Genoa remains mired in difficulty as new coach Luigi Del Neris reign got off to a miserable start. It has gone five games without a win. Earlier, strugglers Siena and Palermo played out aa dull goalless draw. Alan Page Jersey. Alexandre Pato made his first start in eight months, but Milans injury problems continued as Kevin-Prince Boateng had a knee problem and joined Robinho, Mattia De Sciglio, Djamel Mesbah and Sulley Muntari on the sidelines. Luca Antonini was also forced off at the end of the first half with a thigh injury. Milan almost gifted Genoa the lead in the 17th minute, when Luca Antonelli intercepted Cristian Zapatas dreadful clearance and crossed into the area. Milan goalkeeper Marco Amelia got a hand to the ball but punched it off Ciro Immobile and was fortunate to see it fly narrowly wide of his right post. Milans only bright light was El Shaarawy. He was everywhere, even rescuing Milan in defence. El Shaarawy put a low cross into the area in the 38th, but the ball rolled across the face of goal and no one in a crowd was able to connect. Milan had penalty appeals turned down either side of halftime as first Alexandre Pato was brought down by Cesare Bovo before Andreas Granqvist barged into Nigel de Jong. Milan broke the deadlock when Ignazio Abate collected the ball in what looked to be offside before crossing in for El Shaarawy to tap into the back of the net. Siena and Palermo also struggled to carve out goal-scoring opportunities. Palermo fared the better in the second half but failed to score for the sixth time this season. Sienas best chance came in the 28th minute as Francesco Bolzonis 30-yard drive flew narrowly wide. In the buildup, Emanuele Calaio called for a penalty after being pushed by Palermo midfielder Massimo Donati. Fabrizio Miccoli missed a glorious chance for Palermo. He beat the offside trap to collect a delightful throughball from Donati but, one-on-one with onrushing Siena goalkeeper Gianluca Pegolo, he blazed over. It was Siena coach Serse Cosmis first match against Palermo since the Sicilian club sacked him after just four matches in charge. ' ' '
