HOUSTON -- The Milwaukee Brewers dont have a defined closer in a bullpen thats already blown 22 save chances this season. Victor Cruz White Jersey . Now each reliever has to be ready in case the task of holding a ninth-inning lead falls to him. On Sunday it was Kameron Loes turn and, after a couple of hiccups, he shut down Houston to preserve a 5-3 win and end Milwaukees 11-game road losing streak. "It keeps us on our toes right now," he said. "I think theres been a learning process this year for a number of guys, myself included, and youve just got to accept the challenges that come along and take it with a smile." Yovani Gallardo handled Houston once again and Corey Hart homered for the Brewers. Milwaukee won on the road for the first time since July 8 at Houston in its last game before the All-Star break. The Brewers had been swept at the Reds, Phillies and Cardinals since then to extend their losing streak to the second-longest in franchise history, and the longest since they lost 17 straight in 1970. Gallardo (11-8) won his 10th straight start against Houston. Hes the first pitcher to win 10 or more consecutive starts against one opponent since Roy Halladay did it against Montreal/Washington from 2004-11, according to information provided to the Brewers by the Elias Sports Bureau. The right-hander allowed three runs and struck out eight in 7 2-3 innings. Gallardo said its hard to believe that hes won that many in a row over the Astros. "I really try not to look at those numbers like that," he said. "They made me work today. It seemed like there were a lot of 3-2 counts and taking some pretty good pitches and fouling some pretty good pitches." Things got a bit dicey for Loe and Milwaukees beleaguered bullpen in the ninth inning after a hit and an error left the tying on second base. But he retired Marwin Gonzalez to get his first save in six tries. "It felt really good to close it out," Loe said. The Brewers have blown four saves on the road since the All-Star break as the bullpen has struggled to find any consistency. The problems have been wearing on manager Ron Roenicke. "Its hard. It really is," he said. "I feel for the guys. I like the guys that are down there and I know how badly they want to do well and its hard when guys struggle. Those things are hard on coaching staffs because you care about the players, you know what theyre struggling through and you feel like its your job to get them going. And when they dont, its hard on you." Hart broke an 0-for-17 streak with Milwaukees first home run of the series, a solo shot to centre field to lead off the sixth inning that made it 4-2. Jordan Lyles (2-9) allowed eight hits and four runs -- two earned -- in seven innings for his fifth straight loss. He hasnt won since June 26. The Astros wore their blue-and-gold star throwback uniforms for the third straight game after picking up dramatic last at-bat wins in them Friday and Saturday night. But the luck of those uniforms, which were worn from 1994-99, wore off on Sunday as last-place Houston lost for the 35th time in 41 games. Consecutive doubles by Tyler Greene and Gonzalez gave Houston a 1-0 lead in the first. Carlos Gomez, Jean Segura and Gallardo each singled with two outs to tie it at 1-all in the second. Segura singled to start the fifth inning and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt. Norichika Aoki reached on an error by Gonzalez at shortstop and stole second, and Segura beat the throw home on a grounder by Rickie Weeks for a 2-1 lead. Ryan Braun added an RBI grounder. Martin Maldonados RBI double in the eighth inning put Milwaukee up 5-2. "I know (Gonzalez) feels terrible, but weve talked many times about giving teams extra outs," Houston manager Brad Mills said. "Thats exactly what we did that inning, and thats what hurt us." Scott Moores run-scoring single with two outs in the eighth inning chased Gallardo. He was replaced by Jose Veras, who struck out Ben Francisco to end the inning. NOTES: Aoki had two hits and extended his hitting streak to 13 games. ... Houston C Jason Castro, on the disabled list with a right knee injury, went 3 for 3 and played nine innings behind the plate in a rehabilitation assignment with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Saturday night and will be activated on Monday. The Astros optioned C Carlos Corporan after the game to make room for Castro on the roster. ... Milwaukee RHP Shaun Marcum, on the 60-day DL with tightness in his right elbow, is scheduled to make his second rehabilitation start on Wednesday for Single-A Wisconsin. ... Armando Galarraga opposes Chicagos Jeff Samardzija when the Astros open a three-game series with the Cubs on Monday. ... Milwaukees Mike Fiers takes on Colorado LHP Jeff Francis as the Brewers travel to take on the Rockies. Kevin Boothe Jersey . Murray, 61, was fired in December by the Los Angeles Kings, who went on to win the Stanley Cup under the direction of Darryl Sutter. Jason Pierre-Paul Authentic Jersey . Hakeem Nicks Elite Jersey . Louis Cardinals. The Astros received Greene on Thursday for a player to be named or cash considerations. Victor Cruz Giants Jersey . "I am following my heart and moving forward," said Cameron. "This is a very difficult decision - I believe in the Olympic values and have lived my life with excellence, respect and friendship at the forefront of everything that I do.Lincoln Saltdogs starter Ryan Sheldon called it "a good day." That means it wasnt a very good for the Winnipeg Goldeyes. Sheldon allowed no runs on six scattered hits over eight complete innings to lead the Saltdogs past the Winnipeg Goldeyes 5-2 on Wednesday afternoon in front of 7,015 onlookers at Shaw Park. With the win, the visitors put a halt to Winnipegs six-game winning streak and left the Goldeyes with a record of 18-7 after 25 games or one-quarter of the 2012 season. "It was a good day for me," Sheldon told the Shaw TV post-game show. "I made the pitches I needed to make. I had a better change than Ive had all season and while I didnt have a great cutter, it got the job done." Indeed it did. The Goldeyes and starter Ace Walker fell behind in the fourth inning and, despite some chances late in the game, just get a clutch when they needed it. Lincoln took the lead in the fourth when Tommy Collaro singled to score Stephen Holdren and then A.J. Miller grounded out to score Collaro. They made it 3-0 in the sixth when Miller singled home McDonald and extended the lead to 5-0 when McDonald singled home Asif Shah and Holdren with two out and the bases loaded. The Goldeyes had runners on second and third with one out in the sixth and couldnt score and then had runners on second and third with two out in the eighth and failed to capitalize. In the ninth, Winnipeg made it interesting off reliever Brandon Cooney. After Jon Weber grounded out, Yurendell de Caster walked, Luis Alen singled and both moved up 90 feet to third and seecond on a wild pitch. Victor Cruz Youth Jersey. After Josh Mazzola popped out, Kyle Days infield single scored de Caster and then Alen crossed the plate on an error to the Lincoln shortstop Joe Spiers. But with the bases loaded and two out, Saltdogs closer P.J. Zocchi struck out David Narodowski to end the game. "It was nice to have our hitters get some runs," said Sheldon. "When we got the lead, I just wanted to pitch my game and it worked out for us." Sheldon got the win (3-1, 2.41 ERA) while Walker (3-1, 3.68 ERA) suffered his first loss of the season. Zocchi picked up his league-leading sixth save. The Goldeyes still won the three-game series with Lincoln and have now gone 7-2 at home this season. "Were doing OK at home," said Goldeyes manager Rick Forney on the TSN Sports Radio 1290 post-game show. "As long as we keep winning at home, well be OK." After the game, Forney announced that closer Nick Carr was done for the season. "Nick is going on the inactive list and hes been shut down for the season," Forney said. "He has a pretty serious labrum (shoulder) injury and he wont pitch the rest of this year. You never like to lose anybody to injury and I feel bad for Nick. Healthy, he would have been a good pitcher for us." The Goldeyes got on the bus after the game and headed south to Sioux City, IA., to face the Expolorers. Chris Salamida (1-0, 3.38 ERA) will get the start for the Goldeyes on Thursday night. The game can be heard, with Paul Edmonds, on TSN 1290 beginning at 6:30 p.m. ' ' '
