It is something about Detroit fans that hate Chicago Fans and the same on the Chicago side. That team — or former broadcasting buffoon — that boils your blood and bonds fans and players together when they’re on the opposite sideline. Their colors, stadiums, and images of their screaming fans drive you crazy and you’re certain the feeling is mutual. No inter-divisional rivalry gets Detroit Tigers’ fans more fired up than a good, old-fashioned Tigers-White Sox contest.

To hear some in the media tell it, this is baseball's only rivalry. It isn't. It's not even the best rivalry in baseball. It is, however, a great one. So why is it the runner-up? Too one-sided. While the Red Sox were failing to win the title from 1918 to 2004, the Yanks over that span were hoarding 26 championships. The Yankees also lead the all-time series by close to 200 games.

The term Freeway Series refers to a series of baseball games played between Major League Baseball's Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim of the American League and Los Angeles Dodgers of the National League. The series takes its name from the massive freeway system in the greater Los Angeles metropolitan area, the home of both teams; one could travel from one team's stadium to the other simply by traveling along Interstate 5. The term is akin to Subway Series which refers to meetings between New York City baseball teams.
