Galatic News
(Breaking headlines that have just got our attention. Kyo Rusenai, only heir to the rich, well known and powerful Rusenai dragon clan son of its head Chidori Rusenai, is missing, believed kidnapped. He was last seen as a guest of the Tomyia family on Toro Hub. A Rusenai spokesperson stated that the situation is being investigated thoroughly and they have hired a team of licensed appointed bounty hunters to track Kyo and his possible kidnappers and any substantiated information regarding his kidnapping carries a large reward.) (Truy-corporation has announced that it has finally gained control of Geriusl 6 after months of hostility with a population of settled westerners. The breakthrough was achieved when UBC mercenaries broke through the westerners camp and killed most of the opposing fighters. Geriusl 6 is a small inhabitable planentoid in council space with around 300 westerners illegally living on it. Truy-corporation took possession of the planentoid with a business deal. However the local Westerners would not leave and the company took steps to ensure the safety of its resources and personnel on the planentoid and talks broke down into violence. However the Awakened have responded to this and a spokesperson for them has said that the light of retribution of the lord will come swiftly on those that commit such an injustice.

Interstellar Travel

Realistically, for the most "starships" are capable only of interplanetary travel, not interstellar travel. The reason for this is simple: Even the best engine can’t accelerate a ship to light speed, and without light speed, interstellar journeys take tens of thousands of years. The speed of light is 186,000 miles per second. That’s 1,116,000 miles per round, or 66,960,000 miles per hour. Maneuvering a ship at this speed is a tricky proposition; by the time you notice an object in your path, it’s probably too late to avoid it. One must also consider relativity: The closer the ship’s velocity comes to the speed of light, the greater its mass. A starship cannot achieve light speed via simple acceleration, no matter how powerful the ship’s engine, as increasing the power only increases the mass.

The greatest impediment to traveling between the stars is time: What would be the point of sending people to the edge of the galaxy for example, if, by the time they arrived, no one on the departure point could remember why they’d gone in the first place? Time dilation—the slowing of the passage of time in relation to an object traveling at close to the speed of light—becomes a factor. A few years might pass on board the ship, while a few hundred years might have passed both at the ship’s point of origin and its point of arrival.

The earths descendants are the greatest example of this, in the time it took for them to arrive at a new location, several generations had grown up and died and they knew they were never going home

Hence most ships use Nexus gates, FTL drives are extremely uncommon, generally fitting to only the most powerful and vast ships and use Spatial compressor engines folding subspace and then entering and exiting it and travel in an instant for one area to another. The only known example of a FTL capable starship is the Espidnrina dreadnought known as the Venom, however as to the nature of its engines, nobody but them know that and their technology cannot be copied
