| (Breaking headlines that have just got our attention. Kyo Rusenai, only heir to the rich, well known and powerful Rusenai dragon clan son of its head Chidori Rusenai, is missing, believed kidnapped. He was last seen as a guest of the Tomyia family on Toro Hub. A Rusenai spokesperson stated that the situation is being investigated thoroughly and they have hired a team of licensed appointed bounty hunters to track Kyo and his possible kidnappers and any substantiated information regarding his kidnapping carries a large reward.) (Truy-corporation has announced that it has finally gained control of Geriusl 6 after months of hostility with a population of settled westerners. The breakthrough was achieved when UBC mercenaries broke through the westerners camp and killed most of the opposing fighters. Geriusl 6 is a small inhabitable planentoid in council space with around 300 westerners illegally living on it. Truy-corporation took possession of the planentoid with a business deal. However the local Westerners would not leave and the company took steps to ensure the safety of its resources and personnel on the planentoid and talks broke down into violence. However the Awakened have responded to this and a spokesperson for them has said that the light of retribution of the lord will come swiftly on those that commit such an injustice. |

These are the currently in development FTL drives however they are only the trial stages as far as the galactic public is aware. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Inertial Atomic Flux Engine (IAFE) By precisely controlling the quantum energy level of every atom on the ship simultaneously, the IAFE assumes the energy states necessary to produce motion in any direction. In effect, by operating the controls, the pilot chooses from instant to instant what vector the ship’s atoms will next possess, and the IAFE alters them simultaneously—along with everything else aboard, including the crew and passengers. In layman's terms this can be considered a giant teleporter with a built-in transponder. Each destination must be programmed precisely if not it will have dire consequences. It takes a crew of mathematicians and navigators the best part of 3-4 hours to program a jump. An IAFE does not operate within a planetary atmosphere, and most ships fitted with this kind of engine also have secondary thrusters or rely on shuttlecraft. There is alot of competition between IAFE and SC scientists ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Spatial Compressor (SC) An advanced engine in development, the spatial compressor surrounds the ship in a field that “folds” or “wrinkles” the fabric of space in the direction the pilot wishes to travel. This results in a continuous series of micro-jumps in which the ship flickers into and out of reality thousands of times every second through subspace. Since the ship has no intrinsic velocity (it’s stationary while it teleports), the spatial compressor can instantaneously stop or change direction and thrust vector without any maneuvering whatsoever. However, the engine still needs to build up cyclic speed to increase the frequency of its microjumps, so it accelerates normally. The spatial compressor requires a lot of power, but no fuel. It is highly unsafe for atmospheric flight The biggest challenge is the overclocking of AI systems needed to get it to work, and developments to create absolute zero operational AI systems are in the works ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
