”Are you my nightmare? Or am I yours?”
Character Name: Auger (sometimes “Decker”)

Age: Constructed one year ago

Gender: Male

Type: Sentient Golem

Partnered: No

Clothing and description: While Auger stands roughly 8 1/2 feet tall, and 7 while relaxed, he's unusually light and humanoid for a Golem. He is built almost entirely from common sandstone, supplemented with worn and splintered wood at the joints. The fine detail and technical craftsmanship that was so evident when Auger was given life, have since faded. Without a skilled hand to repair him, wear and tear has taken it's toll. This is partially due to his relatively slight frame - much akin to an average human - as opposed to the bulky, sturdier frames of the more common golems. He does however, have the classic Emeth symbol, engraved into a seal between where his shoulder blades might sit, were he a human. Auger's most distinct feature is a lack thereof: his elongated head is completely bare, lacking any normal structures. His faceless visage has evokes both terror and pity, but it does not once betray the feelings of the construct that wears it.

To consume souls, Auger retracts the interlocking plates that comprise the front of his chest, creating an opening to the void space that occupies his center mass. Auger can put the souls within himself, where they are absorbed before the plates return and lock together, after which the souls may not be retrieved. If Auger himself is viewed through any form of Soul Perception, his fractured soul appears as though it was viewed through substantial interference. This is not actual interference with the viewing of a soul, but rather a visual representation of his broken soul.

His voice is stolen - once Decklan's, then Decker's - and like his soul, is just a shadow of it's former owner: Sample

History

Personality: Having been infused with only a portion of a soul (albeit a strong one), Auger has very mixed traits. His vocabulary and grammar are taken from his learned technician, yet his affect is flat and relatively emotionless. Despite sounding experienced, Auger does not know much, for his time sentient is still very little. His movements are methodical, thought out, and rarely rushed. He was accustomed to having working in tandem with another, so much of Auger's actions are still uncertain – like a large, aggressive newborn. With sentience being a new experience, Auger is fascinated by learning new things, although you wouldn't be able to tell from his lack of affect. Emotion and feeling are still new concepts to Auger. He inherited fragments from Decklan – a flash of rage, a prick of sadness, the electricity of joy – but they are just that, fragments. They have the capacity to blossom into full emotions, but only time will make that possible. Additionally, without any preconceptions about witches, Kishin eggs and Shibusen, he does not have any inherent feelings about them. He is likely to form his opinions in the moment, as he meets and interacts with them for the first times.

Auger is constantly driven to fill the void that was once occupied by Decklan's fiery, twisted soul. Now that he is an individual, he has no desire to be worn by anyone else, as he is enjoying his newfound freedom. However, the consumption of another being's soul adds to his own individualism. It strengthens the fragmented soul within him, and perpetuates the madness that animated him. Auger knows he cannot continue to exist without souls, and his dubious/non-existant moral compass makes acquiring them a simple process.

Abilities:

  • Animated Golem: Despite his relative sentience, Auger is still a golem, and therefore has many of the benefits and detriments that being a construct offers, including not suffering from the need to eat, drink, or sleep. The Emeth seal on his back will cripple him considerably when damaged, and put him out of commission for a while – analogous to being unconscious – if destroyed. Since he is not entirely reliant on the Emeth seal any longer, he can function without out, but only very little, like a deathly ill human.

    • Superior Form
Auger is a construct built primarily of wood and sandstone. Weak strikes with most implements will cause him no harm, while damage received from stronger sources will be reduced. Although he is molded from the earth, abilities and effects that manipulate earth cannot manipulate Auger's body. Like most golems, the stone they are formed from is now animated, and therefore not simple earth. (For example, an ability that allowed someone to dig incredibly quickly would not allow them to dig through Auger.) However, the wood portions of Auger have the capacity to catch fire. Additionally, his strength is roughly thrice that of a human, allowing him to do things such as pick up and throw appliance-sized objects short distances, lift a car, or jump to a one-story window.

    • Vibrato Echolocation
One of Decklan's greatest accomplishments with Auger was the design of a vibration-based vision system. At it's pinnacle, it allowed the technician and the golem to visualize minute sound waves and vibrations to see around corners, and through obstacles that might normally need to be surpassed. However, after sustaining heavy damage, the Echolocation unit can only work at it's most basic form. Auger can effectively 'see' like that of a normal human with simple echolocation using a sub-audible sound pulse. He cannot see around corners, or pick up on anything an average human would, although he does not require light. The detail he sees in is crisp and clear, but he is unable to differentiate color, so he is effectively colorblind.

    • Damaged
After “Decker's” last rampage, Auger suffered severe damage. He is not quite as structurally sound as he was when he was built, having sustained several direct hits, and having his Emeth seal cracked. While not entirely broken, the seal's damage makes Auger function as though he were ill – slower, tougher movements. He still retains his strength, but has difficulty making use of it.

    • Decay
Without perpetual exposure to a madness aura to overwrite Auger's base code as a golem, Auger will slowly degrade back to his basic form as a mindless automaton. As he decays, Auger will lose intelligence and sentience. To continue to function as an individual, he must consume souls or be exposed to a madness aura. The degree of madness which he is exposed to will extend his sentience accordingly. Likewise, all souls are not equally valuable to Auger. A simple, innocent soul may only extend his consciousness a day or two, while the soul of a Kishin Egg - or something equally in the throes of madness - may last him a week or more.

Combat Style: Auger favors an aggressive and methodical approach in combat, relying on his sturdy frame to sustain hits, and his incredible strength to kill his opponent. The knowledge of combat that he has was gained from his creator, who also favored a single well-placed blow as opposed to many weak strikes. Despite relatively little combat experience, Auger is a formidable opponent due to his inhuman strength and durable exterior. He is more than able to dispatch thugs, and at the very least, able to hold his own against trained fighters. Auger's demeanor can be disarming, as he has no qualms about ruthlessly tearing an opponent limb from limb. He does not understand concepts such as honor or mercy.

In a sustained fight, Auger will attempt to use his advantages as a golem to win out in the long run. Without getting tired, Auger can wear an opponent down until they are fatigued enough to finish off. Aside from lost limbs, he can continue to function at relative full capacity until he is put out of commission.

Miscellaneous Information:

  • Auger is fascinated by emotions, and anything that evokes a reaction within him is likely to keep him interested for some time.
  • While lacking in experience, Auger is highly intelligent and able to make thoughtful decisions.
  • Since echolocation does not allow vision into a mirror, Auger does not know what he looks like.

Strengths:

  • Incredible strength (With difficulty, could lift a car, throw an appliance sized object 20 yards, or jump to a one-story height)
  • Stone body can resists many common weapons
  • Advanced intelligence allows Auger to learn at a very quick pace

Weaknesses:

  • Lack of experience means many things are new and foreign to him
  • Damage to Auger's Emeth seal can wound or nearly kill him
  • Slow, methodical strikes can be easily avoided by fast/quick-thinking enemies
  • Without souls, Auger will degrade over time

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Ok Fen, Tats is trying to get back into modding properly, so don't mind fact that this is the first proper character request I have modded since getting sick. Hopefully I won't make anymore mistakes or at least keep them to a minimum. I have decided to start with some hopefully simple mods.

Clothing and Description: This is a minor thing and not directly related to improving the character portion of the profile, but rather the writing. In the first sentence you mention he is rather small and then list him at 7-8.5 feet tall. This is actually a common height for golems and there are even smaller golems in canon, Soul and Maka see a group of small golems sitting around when walking through Leow. However, from what I've been told about Auger I assume you're talking about the fact that he is more humanoid rather than bulky. I think mentioning this fact when you say that he is small for a golem will help more than the height you gave.

If he is meant to be worn similarly to a suit of armor, why does he have wooden joints?

Another thing to consider, if viewed with a sight based soul perception, what would the soul in Auger look like? Especially since it's fragmented.

History: Since Auger and Decklan basically fuse into one character, may I ask that you talk about Decklan's history before creating Auger? I am generally curious about how Decklan was raised, what his family was like, and his education. I understand that the character profile is about Auger so we don't need a full proper history for Decklan. The thing I am most interested in, thus prompting this request, is why he uses sandstone and wood for golems (maybe a bit on how he uses it and how he learned to use it)?

Personality: Seems pretty good so far to me, i just don't understand what you mean by "yet his affect is nearly nonexistent."

I'm going to stop here. This is partly because I fell asleep and need to regather thoughts on the combat/mission section of the profile. But, it's also pretty much the entirety of the character oriented side of the profile so I figured this would be a good place to stop.

Hey Tats, thanks for the mod, I'm glad you're feeling better.

Here's a list of my changes and rationale's
- I edited the description to include his relatively humanoid and light frame compared to other golems, rather than just referring to height.
- Added a bit about how he'd look through soul perception.

- The wooden joints were an effort to allow full range of motion while also protecting and supporting the tech inside, so I added that under History.
- Added a good amount more about Decklan, and even more about why Auger is constructed the way he is. Let me know if you'd like me to elaborate on that further.

- When I was talking about his affect, I was referring to the noun definition that means emotions. I tweaked it a bit to avoid confusion, in any case.

Let me know if you have anything else you'd like me to edit, thanks!

I don't see too many problems left.

Personality: This is more due to my curiosity, but what is Auger's opinion of Shibusen and of witches?

History: There is a strange use of the enter key in the second, i think, sentence of backlash (after immediately).

Combat Style: I would like to have a gauge of how strong Auger is in a fight so how easily could he beat a thug? or a group of people? how well could he deal with the average meister-weapon pair or another kishin egg?

Glad to hear it!

Here's what I changed:
- I realized that, while I had it in my headcanon, I neglected to mention that he does not have any predispositions of witches, kishin eggs, or shibusen. I added a sentence that say just that. It was my goal to have a character that has a 'blank slate' of experience, so to speak, so that while he's driven by his own motives, he's not particularly influenced by any outside forces or concepts. Yet, at least.

- Fixed the strange use of the enter key, not sure how that happened.

- Added a bit in Combat Style about his ability to deal with your common thug, or a trained fighter. As I see it now, a thug really has no way to significantly hurt Auger, while a trained fighter could both do good damage and also elude his attacks, especially in his current, weakened state.

Cheers!
