Clothing and description: Takeshi stands at 5'8" and weighs in at 140 lbs, a result of his tougher and heavier build than most guys hailing from Japan, as well as constant exercise. His skin is average for his decent, however his bright blue eyes are a little unusual. Takeshi's longer hair is dyed and spiked, the colors matching this, and spiked as shown in the photo. He also has a tattoo of the roman numeral VII on his right forearm, reflecting his lineage placing him as the seventh generation after a great meister (who is important later). He also sports a lighter colored scar across the bridge of his nose.

Takeshi's outfits take inspiration from Banchos and thugs. His school outfit starts with an untucked white long-sleeved button-up shirt, the sleeves rolled up just below his elbow. He wears a short white and black tie with the image of Shinigami's skull on the end, usually properly tied, but gets loosened for school brawls. Underneath the button-up he wears a dark grey (ooo) UnderArmor type shirt, in case something should happen to his button-up in a fight. Over the button-up he wears a pale blue (ooo) puffy vest. He wears tan baggy pants with a chain on them, held up by a simple black belt and rolled up to the top of his boots. These boots have black elastic straps rather than laces, and a zipper on the inner side to allow for removal/donning of the dark blue (ooo) boots with white tongues . They are steel tipped on the toes as are the heels. His mission outfit swaps the colors of his pants and button-up to black, and he swaps the vest for a black Bancho-style trench coat, as well as ditching the tie. On the back of the trenchcoat is the roman numerals VII in the same blue as his boots, also representing the title he gave himself based on the lineage behind his tattoo, the title being Seventh Son. Finally, he is always wearing the demon tool necklace he uses in combat.

History: Takeshi Mori, born May 24th in Japan to an almost always absent at work for an international business father and a slightly negligent stay at home mother. While he lived in the city and his parents had many friends, he was never very sociable. In fact, many of the kids he met were scared of him. Due to his lack of socialization at home, Takeshi was a very blunt boy, and when combined with an intimidating stature for a boy his age and a fierce sense of justice that got him into trouble, Takeshi came across as a punk, and kids stayed away as a result.

It wasn't until he was 4 years old and playing in a park did events lead to him getting a friend. While he was playing on the swing set all alone, he noticed a group of kids pushing a girl around, and immediately act to aid her, pushing the bullies aside and helping the girl up. He then used his natural aura to scare the kids away, and walked the girl, named Yui Sakurai, home.

The next day, the two met in the park again, and they would continue to spend time together for many hours every day for the next several years. As more and more bullies tried to pick on Yui, Takeshi stepped up to defend the girl who had accepted his offer to walk home, and the two became incredibly close friends. He continued to protect her as the entered elementary school together, as well as all through out it. The two were nigh inseparable, Takeshi would even stand outside the restroom and stand guard despite getting told off for it multiple times a week.

Even though it was usually just the two of them together, they never felt lonely or separated from the rest, they had each other and that was enough. They'd often have little adventures after school, including the incident that resulted in the scar on his nose. One day while walking home in the rain under Yui's pink umbrella with her, her heard a distant mewl coming from under a bench in their park. Takeshi instantly ran out to investigate, and found a cardboard box where a white and black spotted cat lay, curled up with her 4 young kittens, shivering in the cold rain. Takeshi ended up taking the box to a nearby no-kill shelter, but not before the mothering cat attacked his face several times, drawing a lot of blood and causing the scar.

However, peaceful days like that wouldn't last forever. Halfway through their sixth grade year, Takeshi and Yui encountered a student with a sword that was cursed to infect the wielder with madness as he attempted to use it on another student. While they were all gathered in the yard of the school, confrontation broke out between the two students, and one revealed the seemingly normal sword.

Without thinking, the young vigilante leapt into the fray, disarming the sword-holder and throwing it aside. Unbeknownst to him, the few brief seconds he had had contact with the blade had infected him with a seed of madness. However, he was more concerned with beating up the kid who pulled out the sword despite the teacher attempting to yank him off. Takeshi only yielded when he heard Yui's scream ring out, and he froze for a moment, filled with dread and worry that he'd failed to protect her.

Thankfully, Yui was fine, the scream a result of an odd feeling she'd gotten while holding the sword she caught, but the incident didn't go without repercussions. Rumors that had always floated around Takeshi about his fierce appearance made a large resurgence, even making it to Yui's parent's ears. Concerned for the safety of their child, the forbade Yui spending time with Takeshi. Despite this, they were still fairly close at school, and Yui'd occasionally sneak out to hang out in their park.

However, something had happened to their relationship, and an amount of distance had begun to form between them. The killing blow came while Takeshi was desperately grasping at straws in the form of a location transfer that his largely absent father received. At the end of the school year, the family would have to move to America, where they would live indefinitely.

After silently mulling it over for a week, Takeshi finally mustered the courage to tell Yui in the form of a secret meeting in their park. Distressed by the news, Yui burst into tears and begged that Takeshi stay, or at least take her with them. They both knew it was impossible though, and were filled with despair. And idea suddenly popping into his head however, Takeshi vowed to Yui that the two of them would play together in the park again some day. It was on a morode note that graduation day ended, as Takeshi went straight to the airport after the ceremony.

After the flight landed, Takeshi began to be the subject of even fiercer rhetoric of those believing him to be a thug. Under the stress, Takeshi slowly grew into his bestowed role, becoming a no-shits-given stoic type of delinquent, dying his hair and changing his attire to match. He never spoke unless spoken to, and always responded rudely if at all. After being accepted by Yui for being himself for so long, Takeshi felt the need to be accepted, even if it was for being someone other than himself. It was no stretch to say that he was now completely alone.

However, a year ago, the Asura was released, sending a wave of madness around the world. This madness caused Takeshi to have a strange dream while he slept through detention, as it stirred the seed that had been planted years ago when he had grabbed the cursed sword from his classmate. Something "broke" in his psyche, and when he awoke, he remembered dreaming of an ancient samurai who requested that he find his legacy in the form of a necklace. Arriving home from school, Takeshi dug through old boxes, finding an old necklace he'd once received from his grandfather, made up of various animal teeth and claws. Takeshi donned the necklace, and the moment he did, a strange sensation spread throughout him.

Words crept into his mind, and he spoke them. "Beast Out!" The necklace around his neck began to glow and shake, and a blue light enveloped him. When it faded a few seconds later, Takeshi found that he now wore bear-themed accessories over his clothes. He was marveling the white fur that seemed indicative of a polar bear's when he heard a gruff voice in his mind grunt as if being suddenly stirred awake from a deep sleep. When it became fully aware, it asked if Takeshi could hear him, to which a quick "Yes" came in response. Seemingly overjoyed, the voice called out names, and soon other voices stirred awake. Takeshi sat in confusion while the voices talked about things he had never heard of, but realizing his silence, the first voice quited the others and began to explain.

The first voice identified himself as Nanook, the spirit of the polar bear Takeshi was channeling. He explained that what Takeshi wore was a necklace composed of the teeth and claws of high-level "Types." These Types were aparently once people belonging to a tribe called "Arches" and had been forced to become Types. Their physical bodies considered too weak, their soul was ripped from them and given new animal bodies composed of the soul wavelengths of another Arche, essentially making Types summoned creatures capable of magic. Once they were strong enough, Types could form physical bodies, increasing their usefulness.

Many years ago, Shinigami launched one of the many attacks he'd executed throughout history on the Arche tribes, Takeshi's great-great-great-great-great-grandfather among the forces. His ancestor was aparently a samurai near the end of their monopoly over Japan's military, as well as an accomplished meister. The samurai slew a great number of Types, and out of respect for them, kept their claws or teeth. This apparently allowed the Type's souls to continue to exist, sealed in the bone. However, the madness in Takeshi awakened them, and out of a warrior's respect for the man who slew them and the boy who awakened them, they promised to lend Takeshi their strength. However, he must prove himself to be as powerful as his ancestor to gain the co-operation of all of the Types sealed in his necklace.

The madness still having an effect on his cognition, Takeshi agreed, inspired by his ancestor's strength and the Types' warrior code. He dubed himself the Seventh Son, seeing as he was the seventh generation after his samurai ancestor. He decided to attend Shibusen to become a meister, and his somewhat negligent parents agreed with little discussion. He had recovered from the madness by the time he discussed it with them, but decided to go with it, wanting to start over and leave his delinquent behavior behind.

Upon arriving at Shibusen, Takeshi found a job in a no-kill animal shelter to pay for his living expenses, and a small dorm to live in. While his appearance changed little in the move, swapping the black outfit he uses for missions now that had been his normal wear for his current attire, he has begun to take school seriously after blowing off all of middle school, taking advantage of the smarts that placed him at the top of his grade in middle school, that is, when he was actually present for the tests. While Takeshi no longer gets in as many pointless fights, his number of brawls at school is still an impressive number. The years of isolationism have left him a bit rough around the edges, despite largely good intentions.

Takeshi has been attending Shibusen for one year, working out in the school's gym every morning as well as taking as many opportunities for practical training as he could, as he has yet to attempt a mission for fear of his reputation causing dissonance in his team, and his preference to work to improve himself so that he could be the person others could depend on and need. Takeshi takes as many opportunities to Beast Out as he can, using it in training at Shibusen, though use of the tool increases the chance of the madness within him triggering his delusions, and thus a slight personality shift.

About two months ago, another Type opened up to him, Gyrk the Gyrfalcon. Seeing the efforts Takeshi had been putting forth, Gyrk decided to help him on his way to become more like his ancestor. Excited, Takeshi tried it out in the next training session, much to everyone's surprise. They'd become used to Nanook's transformation, but Gyrk's was new, and Takeshi easily won his sparring match.

Personality: Takeshi's personality has gone through change over the years, but he has found a nice average in his current state. Currently resting somewhere between his punk/thug facade and his self of years past, he still keeps most people at arms length, but is trying to get closer. His reputation for getting into fights when antagonized or bullies are doing their thing combined with his appearance make socializing hard, so he currently isn't on "friendly" terms with anyone aside from a few of the teachers, whose respect he has gained through his hard work in their classes and his generally well intending demeanor.

Takeshi is very kind and caring in all honesty. He would never harm an innocent, human or animal. He is also very sensitive to the way people perceive him, aware that his looks and sometimes standoffish demeanor make him seem volatile. While it is rare that he would call someone out on their judgemental behavior, usually only when they are doing so maliciously, he is still hurt by it, and will back out of a situation if he feels that his presence is causing friction in a situation.

Sometimes Takeshi may come across as gullible or too trusting, especially when he goes all-in on something he doesn't know about. His efforts to fill the stereotypical role of Bancho in middle school are a huge testament to that, as he did anything and everything he could to appear more tough, from tattoos to death metal. Another example is his quick acceptance of his madness induced dream.

In contrast to his flippant attitude in middle school and his harsh appearance, Takeshi is actually very bright, earning top marks on his tests in middle school (when he was there to take the tests), and continues to score well at Shibusen. His smarts are especially prevalent in the area of music, which has begun a secret obsession of his. Starting in middle school with him learning the guitar, then to play hard rock and heavy metal, etc., Takeshi has turned to the acoustic guitar since arriving in Death City, the subject matter of his songs taking the much lighter tones of love songs, as well as the upbeat tunes of some swing as he learned the piano. Takeshi's singing voice is decently better than average, able to reach soprano, something a guy of his size would normally be able to reach, as well as the bass notes other guys can hit.

The secret obsession side of his affinity to music comes from one of his favorite genres, extremely girly J-Pop and Vocaloid music. Takeshi will often lose track of his surroundings in the shower and begin singing Hatsune Miku at full volume and exactly on pitch. Much to his embarrassment, there have been a couple of times where his neighbors have come and asked him to keep his singing down as it could be heard through the walls. All of the music of this type that he owns is hidden under his bed where normal boys would put porn, as are the romance manga and light novels he owns, also a dark secret in his opinion.

There are times where Takeshi will publicly perform his music however, such as the occasional afternoon one in a while where he will spend time in the park playing his guitar to collect donations for the shelter he works at. He performs both covers and occasionally his own original stuff, but he gets bashful about those, so he usually sticks to the covers. While playing the guitar and singing, his harsh appearance softens, and he seems much more approachable. He even manages to collect a decent amount of donations, all of which go into keeping the shelter running.

Takeshi is extremely loyal to anyone he deems a "friend." His strong sense of justice is even more prone to leading to violence when a friend is in danger, and he will put everything on the line for a friend with no concern for himself or his safety, deeming himself to be of less importance than the rest of the world. Should injury come to a friend or ally under his watch, he will hold a grudge against the attacker until he feels he has repaid them in full, plus a little interest on the debt.

Occasionally, Takeshi will be overcome by the effects of the madness, especially when exposed to high levels of external madness, or when he uses his Demon Tool. These make him more shounen protag in actions, speech, and mentality, making him more aggressive and focused on justice. He gets a bit cocky flippant, but at heart he is still the same, and if he really needs to, it is possible to return to normal, though it is difficult. He also often flaunts his self-appointed title of Seventh Son in this state.

Abilities:

  • Technique Name: DEMON TOOL: 剣の七郎 (Ken no Shichirou) - Sword of the Seventh Son
Effects/Description: While not actually a sword, Takeshi dubbed his ancestor's necklace as such, as it is his primary weapon. This Demon Tool contains the remains of many Types' souls, and when their energy is channeled through Takeshi's madness, they may lend their powers to him. To invoke a Type, Takeshi shouts "Beast Out!" as a signal to the indicated Type to lend him power. A mysterious light from soul wavelengths hides the materialization of parts of the Type's former animal form in the shape of armor resembling the creature. Takeshi may do this freely until he becomes too exhausted to continue fighting. Types lend strength and abilities similar to their animal form when Takeshi channels them.

  • Technique Name: BEAST FORM: Nanook
Effects/Description: A polar bear Type, Nanook's Beast Out takes the form of knee-length boots and elbow-length gauntlets covered in white fur and completed by retractable claws in the hands and feet. He also gains a helmet with white fur of a polar bear. The passives this form gives are increased strength, heightened smell and sight, tolerance to cold, and enhanced swimming ability.

Nanook himself is a bit gruff and solitary. If a fight can be avoided, he generally would prefer to do so, as he's not particularly aggressive. If his honor has been damaged however, he will become unpredictable in thoughts and speech, often seeking to lash out at the defamer, and generally won't stop until he feels a fatal blow has been dealt. Nanook can be quite curious at times, which can lead to problems. While being largely solitary, the few friendships he forms are meaningful and he will fight for them. In essence, he can be seen as similar to a samurai.

  • Technique Name: BEAST FORM: Gyrk
Effects/Description: A gyrfalcon Type, Gyrk's Beast Out takes the form of sleeves that have feathers, effectively able to turn Takeshi's arms into wings at will, as well as clawed knee-length boots and a helmet, all with feathers in the coloration of this falcon. The passives this form grants are flight, enhanced sight and speed, and a good sense of direction.

Gyrk himself can be a bit crude and opportunistic. He focuses on what's at hand, and will attempt to accomplish his goals through any means necessary. He isn't above stooping below a moral code to do what he wants. However, he is incredibly loyal to those he respects, and will value their orders over his own initiative. In essence, he can be seen as similar to a ninja.

Combat Style: Takeshi is very much a pugilist, using his fists as his primary weapons. His technique features a mix of the counter puncher and swarmer styles, mixing short stretches of defensive tactics with stretches of all-out assault. Takeshi also has rudimentary knowledge of grapples from street brawls, but not enough to go head to head with a pro. Takeshi tends to use his offensive Types like Gyrk at the beginning or end of a stretch of swarmer tactics, using defensive Types like Nanook while using counter puncher tactics.

Takeshi's counter puncher style involves blocking and dodging the opponent to tire them, attempting to allow as few hits to land as possible. When he feels that he has found an opening, Takeshi will use swarmer tactics, where he will simply take the hits as they come in order to keep up a constant stream of blows.

Miscellaneous Information: Takeshi is fluent in Japanese, English, and Italian, the last one due to thinking that it was a prerequisite to join a mafia at one point. He is also especially sensitive to anything related to his childhood friend, Yui, whether it be actions she makes around him or actions others make in regard to her, present or not. He'd like to eventually meet back up with her, but it isn't foremost in his priorities as of now.

Takeshi's tattoo and the design on the back of his trenchcoat were originally different when he got them in middle school, but they have been changed since then to better reflect him, though they were changed while under the effect of madness, which he kinda regrets.

Strengths:

  • Adaptable fighting style based off of different animal forms
  • Loyal defender of allies making him a good teammate
  • Fairly smart and quick on the uptake

Weaknesses:

  • Madness can be more than a bit inconvenient
  • Highly dependant on his Demon Tool
  • Has never used a Demon Weapon before

Edits posted, and I know this is gonna need some work, but I'm struggling by myself to think of how to balance his abilities and figured I'd ask for mod help.

Hi Wing. I've been thinking about how to make this mod for a while since it's kind of sitting somewhere between a new character and a remod, it still counts as a remod. Basically I decided that everything above history is fine.

Changes to history might be better discussed through PMs of some sort after I decide how much information on the ArcheTypes I'm willing to let you in on.

Personality: I know it's already long but since you're giving the Types personality and access to Takeshi's mind, you probably should explain Takeshi's opinion of them.

Abilities: This is mostly a rehash of what I already told you but here goes.

Flight always gets it's own ability. In the SEverse flying is an ability given to very few characters. Shinigami have their jets, witches use magic, grigori souls can use demon tools or demon weapon partners, and we've even let a few demon weapons gain this ability with limitations in 42.
demon weapon examples/rant

Since it seems that the primary purpose of these transformations is to improve the character's stats we'll need examples of his base stats and his improved stats.

Misc. Info.: Kinda want to hear, in history section, about Takeshi wanting to get into mafia and getting tattoo altered, but at same time, doesn't sound particularly important to his character yet. Just something I thought when I read it.

Otherwise I can't think of much more to add about this.
