Character: Aries

Missions to hand in: Hard - so this is an unturned in hard mission from the original SE rp site. I never got an=round to finishing that training tread and it never got spent before the site was shut down, i talked it over with tats and he said it would carry over to here.

New Ability Name: NOT THE FACE!!!
Effects/Description: Taping into latent levels of cowardice and magical ineffectiveness Aries has unlocked the age old defense mechanize of goats and sheep, fainting. Upon perceiving an immanent threat to her life, such a an incoming punch or perhaps a deadly caterpillar Aries will emit a short goat or sheep like baa and freeze in place. Every muscle in her body hardens like stone causing her to become stiff and rigid. In this state she is invulnerable to harm but unable to move her body or use any of her magic. The effects of this ability last until her panic attack ends, at which point she can move like normal again. After she ends the ability she cannot use it again for an amount of time equal to the duration she maintained it.

please stick to one uniform system of units when measuring time in regards to your abilities. For example, if you use seconds then don't use posts and vice versa.

i guess. If there's any cool downs or other drawbacks you should mention them as well. Maybe how she undoes the spell, like is it time sensitive where there is a preset amount of time she can do this? or does she have a trigger to undo the spell?

that's originally what I had down, she can use this ability for 5 seconds at a time a maximum of once per post. Otherwise what I was gonna do was the effects last as long as she maintains it. On one hand while she maintains it shes essentially invulnerable, on the othr hands she is completely helpless, just because you can;t hurt her doesn't mean you cannot move her, or say throw her of a bridge or into the water ect. While it may be able to defend against any single attack pretty soon people are gonna realize that she is extremely open when she uses it.

yes i understand the general idea of the ability, but if you just make it so that it lasts indefinitely without adding how she undoes the ability, with the current wording, Aries uses ability and suddenly can't do anything at all, not even cancel the ability when done, and although that would be hilarious to see and point out later, I'm not mean enough to do that.

Look I'm just trying to understand how the ability works and when i said to keep time measurements in the same system of units, it's because posts have fluid unstructured time, allowing them to last mere miliseconds to days or weeks, you can't use a solid time measurement like seconds or minutes because of this.

So when you say that you want to make it indefinite instead of based on a timer i want to know how Aries undoes the spell and if there's some sort of cool down or drawback to pay the cost of activating the spell. The drawback of not being able to move is the cost for the indestructibility not the activation (by the way the example of throwing her off a bridge doesn't actually work if she's invulnerable since it won't hurt her anyway, though the throwing her into water makes a little sense, since she could just drown, unless she just undoes the spell.)

the ability in question is meant to be part physical part magical. Goats have that natural reaction when startled for their muscles to lock up momentarily making them fall over and look like they faint, its a result of their muscles spontaneously tightening themselves. The same works for Aries hat when startled her bodies muscles tighten but also magically harden to give her the defensive aspect. Once the panic attack passes she just relaxes and goes back to normal, her muscles unlock themselves and she can get up and move around. How about she can maintain i for any amount of tie but cannot use it again for the same amount of time, so if she maintains it for 5 seconds she cannot use it for 5 seconds, if she uses it a minute she cannot use it for a minute ect. It works on a subconscious level, when shes scared its like her version of flight or fight response, only instead of doing something useful she plays dead, when danger passes her body just undoes it.
