Character Name: Abigail Rothschild Age: 16 Gender: Female Type: Weapon (sometimes Meister) Partnered? Yes (to Adria Sol) Image: ![]() Clothing and description: Abigail looks very young, and has on many occasions been mistaken for someone several years younger than she actually is. This is due in large part to her very below-average height of four feet and nine inches, as well as her relatively underdeveloped chest, both of which her more normally-proportioned friends like to tease her about. This misunderstanding is further exaggerated by her large-eyed, soft-featured face, which gives her a youthfully cute appearance. Gale's bright red hair is fairly long, reaching near her waist when let down. Most of the time however, she keeps it tied up in twin braids, with black ribbons tied onto the ends. Her long bangs frame her face and fall just slightly into her bright, sapphire blue eyes. Her skin is very fair, appearing almost white in the right lighting, which along with her thin physique gives her a somewhat fragile appearance. A few small, discolored scars left from the injury she sustained a few years ago mar her upper chest, close to her heart. Abby's clothing tends to have some gothic lolita influence, and her favorite colors are red, black, and white. Her typical casual attire consists of a t-shirt, usually with a design shaped like Shinigami's skull mask on the front, and a simple mono-colored skirt held up by her favorite red belt, which has a small golden cross hanging off of it. She likes to wear thigh-high stockings, usually black-and-white striped ones, along with simple slip-on shoes with tiny bows on them. Battle outfit When going into battle, Gale likes to wear bright red, in honor of the blood that is to be shed. In particular she wears a red vest with a black trim, and black lace along the bottom, with a red jacket with matching black trim and lace on the sleeves over it. Under that is two-toned red skirt with black lace that covers a little bit past her knees. Her hands are covered by black gloves that flare out around her wrists, and her feet are clad in red-and-black shoes with similar flaring around the ankles. Weapon form Abby's weapon form takes the shape of a double-sided maul, with a small spike sticking up from between the two hammerheads. From the tip of the spike to the end of the shaft, the hammer is about four and a half feet long, with a red handle on the end and red highlights under the head. In between these highlights there are numerous tiny holes, which currently seem to serve no purpose. History: Abigail was born into a fairly normal German family along with an older brother and sister, as well as one more brother born after her. While it could get a bit hectic sometimes, she enjoyed having such a large family, as it meant she was never short of someone to play with growing up. However, as the four siblings grew together, Gale began to noticing something a bit odd about her self compared to her brothers and sister. While the other three all had great ambitions for their lives, she couldn't think of one for herself. Her older brother wanted to be a respected doctor like their father, her sister was aiming to become a famous actress, and while her younger brother couldn't quite decide between astronaut and president of the world, he still had a head start on Abby, who still didn't have the faintest idea what to do with her life. However, her mother was more than willing to fill that gap in for her. Ever since she was young, people had been praising Abigail for her lovely singing voice, and her mother was convinced that a career in music would be perfect for her. For her part, Abby liked music well enough so she went along with it as her mother hired well-respected teachers for her voice, violin, piano, guitar, and many other instruments. After a while the stress of trying to learn so many things at once got to Gale however, and reluctantly her mother agreed to cut back to just voice and violin lessons. It was on her way to one of her voice lessons at age fourteen that Abigail's true destiny was set into motion by one fateful event. As she was walking through a public park, the sounds of combat filled the air, and an explosion tore through the previously peaceful scenery. A girl wielding a massive hammer, which she would later learn was a meister and weapon team from Shibusen ,were locked in battle with a dangerous witch, and now the two opposing forces clashed right before Gale's eyes. While she was understandably terrified by the sight, she was at the same time astonished and inspired by the display, and against her better judgement she watched the duel from behind a tree only a short distance away. Unfortunately, despite her best attempts to keep herself hidden, Abby was noticed by the witch, who decided to use the young girl's presence to her advantage. After pointing out the civilian to her foes, she fired an arrow at the tree, forcing the meister to intercept. The projectile pierced her chest, leaving her badly wounded and barely standing. Gale could only watch in horror, knowing that it was her fault that the brave meister was about to be killed. However, the meister and her partner had other ideas. Gathering the last of their strength, they resonated with each other stronger than ever before, surrounding them in a powerful glow as they struck one final blow on the witch. The force of the impact caused the weapon to physically shatter, as both partners had put all of their souls into the attack, and some of the shrapnel from the blast flew at Abby, piercing her chest and throwing her back into a tree, which knocked her unconscious. For almost a week Abigail was in intensive care, and was asleep for most of that time as a team of surgeons led by her own father attempted to remove the iron shards inside of her. During this time, she thought she could hear a voice calling out to her from somewhere in the darkness, but she couldn't quite make out the words. When she had finally stabilized and woke up, her father explained that while they had been able to remove most of the shrapnel, some small fragments had to be left inside her, as they were too close to her heart to operate safely. Even so, her life was no longer in danger and she was released from the hospital not long afterwards. Inspired by the sight of the meister and weapon from Shibusen's battle, Gale told her parents she wanted to enroll in the school and become a meister, so she could protect people the way the pair had protected her. Her mother absolutely forbade it however, saying that she had almost lost her precious daughter already and that allowing her to pursue such an obviously dangerous career was out of the question. While she appreciated her mother's concern and respected her wishes, Abby was disappointed, and even when she returned to her music studies it was somehow no longer the same. It wasn't what she really wanted anymore. Around one year later, Abigail would be hit by another life-altering event. While she was singing in a school recital, she once again heard the strange voice she thought she had imagined back when she was injured. It was singing along with her. The next thing she knew, Abby was surrounded by a bright red glow, and suddenly she felt much heavier, and fell to the floor with a loud thud. She heard the crowd gasp, and tried to sit up, only to find she could no longer move under her own power. Scared, she began screaming for help, and she was dimly aware of people crowding around her and saying things she couldn't quite understand to her. However in her confusion, one voice came through loud and clear. It was the same voice in the darkness from before, and it was coming from within her own soul. He introduced himself as Raphael Adler, and explained that he was the weapon Gale had seen in battle against the witch a year ago. It seemed the broken shards of his weapon form that had invaded her body had somehow allowed a small shard of Raphael's soul to survive shielded inside Abby's soul, and over time their wavelengths had begun to mix. When they sang together, Raphael theorized, their souls had resonated, and Abigail was able to access a version of his weapon form and transform her body into the hammer that now lay on the floor. While she was initially frightened and confused by this explanation, she gradually began to realize that it made sense. Raphael walked her through how to change back to human form, and she was able to do so successfully. The moment she could move again, she leaped up and cheered ecstatically, knowing that her mother couldn't stop her from enrolling in Shibusen now. Sure enough, after some convincing and a call from the school itself, which had heard of Abby's unusual case and wished to bring her in for observation and training, her parents relented and allowed her to travel to America to enroll in the school of her dreams. Once there, she allowed Professor Stein to examine her unusual weapon form, and he confirmed that Raphael's theory was fairly sound. He also informed her that she had an unusually flexible wavelength, which allowed her to match others' souls easier, which was the reason she had been able to assimilate Raph's weapon form through the year of exposure their souls had to each other. Not particularly caring about the reasons it had happened, Gale was simply excited to begin training with her new weapon form and immediately enrolled in the NOT class. After around a year in the class, she was finally promoted to EAT class and is eager to begin going on official missions for the school. Personality: Abigail is a generally friendly person, and enjoys interacting with others. She always loves to make a new friend and takes every opportunity to spend time with those she has. As such, she is a very outgoing individual, and is never afraid to speak her mind. Of course, this can also lead to cases in which she starts speaking before thinking, and says something foolish or insensitive. On top of that she can be very unapologetic sometimes, though if she recognizes that she has offended someone she will usually try to at least make things right. Abby loves the thrill of battle, and all but disregards its dangers. She enjoys testing her skill against any opponent, whether in a friendly sparring match or a life-or-death struggle. She is, however, very conscious that her fights can have consequences, especially when she's fighting a kishin egg that is threatening innocents. As someone who was once saved by a Shibusen team, she has nothing but respect for the mission of the academy and wants to be a part of that mission. She has a sort of survivor's guilt from being saved by Raphael and his partner, which has led to her desire to put her own life on the line to save others now that she has the power to. Due to being teased about her body for most of her life, Gale has developed a fairly thick skin, and is difficult to offend. This is also partially why she doesn't always realize when she has offended someone, because she doesn't find many things offensive herself. One thing she can still be offended by is being called a coward, as she prides herself on never hesitating to act when the situation demands it, no matter how scared she might be. In fact, when she does get scared, she often has the opposite reaction of trying to act out more and appear tougher than usual to hide her fear. Abilities: Technique Name: Transformation - 'Meine seele ist mit eisen gekleidet' Effects/Description: By singing the above phrase, Abigail can resonate with the shards of Raphael left in her body and soul, allowing her to transform into her weapon form, which is an adapted version of Raph's. In her weapon form, Abby can be wielded by pretty much anyone, due to her flexible wavelength, but high levels of resonance are made somewhat difficult for her and a meister due to the presence of a third soul. Her weapon form itself, a double-sided maul, is an effective bludgeoning weapon, as well as sturdy enough to act as an effective shield for her meister. It is rather heavy, as a good hammer should be, but can still be lifted and swung by most people of at least average strength, though it is most effective when wielded by someone with the strength to really swing it. Combat Style: Abigail prefers not to fight on her own when possible, as she has had only minimal training with martial arts and hand-to-hand combat. However, she is competent enough to survive in a one-on-one encounter until a meister to wield her or a weapon for her to wield arrives to help her. When wielding a weapon, Gale becomes a veritable storm, as her nickname suggests, tearing across the battlefield with reckless abandon. While she is not strong or skilled enough to match up to a dedicated meister, she can be an effective meister in combat should the need arise. Her primary skills lie in her weapon form however, which she takes great pride in teaching her meisters how to use as effectively as possible. She isn't known for being a brilliant tactician, but she can think on her feet and adapt to a variety of situations, allowing her to aid her meister with advice when she is being wielded as well as keeping her on her toes when she is acting as a meister. Miscellaneous Information: Abigail is very afraid of the dark, and tries to stay in the brightest area she can find when in a dark room or out at night. Also, she can speak both German and English fluently. Strengths:
Weaknesses:
Roleplay Sample: Abigail sat on a bench in Death City's park, kicking her legs back and forth idly. The sun was at its zenith for the day, and was almost maliciously laughing down at the girl, who was still sweaty and was trying to catch her breath after the jog around the park she had just completed. Letting out a growl that sounded more pouting than angry, she frowned up at the bright yellow orb and muttered, "Can't you -haah, haah- give it a rest for -haah- one second...?" The celestial body's only response was more laughter, which Gale took as a spiteful "no." 'Try to ignore the heat, Abigail. Breath in and out slowly... let the heat wash over you like a wave. Don't invite it in to stay for tea.' That would be Raphael offering some purely unwanted advice, yet again. With a comical twitch of her eye, Abby countered, "What kind of simile is that exactly? You don't invite waves over for tea often do you? Pick a metaphor and stick with it!" Glancing around at the people giving her strange looks as she walked by, she realized that speaking to Raph out loud was probably not such a great idea after all. Feeling the need to rub it in, the disembodied soul shard shot back, 'I'm not the one speaking to thin air...' With an annoyed, "Che," the weapon jumped off the bench and onto her feet, trying to play off her embarrassing gaff by nonchalantly walking down the path back towards Shibusen, her thumbs firmly stuck underneath her belt. However, before she could make it very far, a voice called out to her from behind, "Hey, shorty! Stop where you are!" Turning around, the redhead glanced at the hoodie-wearing boy that had accosted her with a raised eyebrow. "You talking to me?" Smirking confidently, the boy replied, "Of course! You see any other midgets hanging around this park?" Looking around for a moment, Abigail turned to face the rude boy again and shrugged, "Nope, not really. Just me, I guess. So what's your deal then? You need me for something?" Looking slightly surprised that the girl hadn't taken issue with his clearly taunting remarks, the boy took a couple seconds to come up with a response, but when he did he slapped a sneer back on his face and shot back, "Yeah, I do in fact! I hear you just got promoted to the EAT class, and I think that's a real gyp! I've been at this school longer than you have, I'm stronger than you, and I deserve that promotion!" A brief silence stretched between the two as Gale waited for him to continue his thought, but when she realized he was waiting for her to react, she gave him an expectant look and said, "Okay... so what're you gonna do about it?" Now outright snarling, the boy pounded his right fist into his left palm and growled, "I'm gonna beat the shit out of you, and prove to those stupid teachers that I deserve to be promoted instead of you!" Upon hearing this, the pupils in Abby's eyes instantly lit up with an eager fire, and a wide grin spread across her face. "Well if you wanted a fight, you shoulda just said so to start with! Bring it on, anytime!" Clenching her hands into fists, she held her left arm up defensively and held her right arm back, ready to strike, as she bent her knees in preparation to do battle. With an exasperated sigh, Raphael asked, 'Really Abigail, weren't you just complaining about the heat and how tired you were? Now you're suddenly raring for a fight?' Grinning, she responded mentally this time, remembering not to voice her comments to Raph out loud again, 'Weren't you the one just saying to let the heat wash over me? What better way to do that than kicking some ass!?' With that, Abby rushed towards the boy, eager to start the duel. Edited by GameMasterZX, Feb 20 2013, 05:20 AM.

hey ash, usually first characters come with this whole big spiel, but unless you want it I don't think your character really needs it. I am happy to say that your character is accepted. |
