Character Name: Rosemary Lilith Voss Age: 17 Gender: Female Type: Weapon Partnered? No Image: ![]() Clothing and description: Rose is an athletic girl, with a slim but muscular build, as a result of the intense training she has endured since she was young. She stands at about five feet and seven inches tall, making her a bit above average in height. Her skin is slightly pale, and bears a few scars she has received during her time as an assassin. Her bust size is a bit larger than she would strictly prefer, being around a mid-C, which she occasionally finds uncomfortable for the precise, rapid movements required of her in her line of work. She has a somewhat round face, with a bit of a prominent chin that would give her a young, energetic appearance when she smiles, though she unfortunately does not do so often. Her eyes are a pale blue, almost appearing silver in contrast to her dark brown hair, which appears black in certain lighting. Her smooth, straight hair is kept fairly short, barely reaching past her chin in length, with the bangs brushed to the side, though it still tries to fall back into her face. Her typical attire is fairly basic, consisting of simple t-shirts and jeans most often, usually in shades of red or black. Regardless of the weather, she allows wears a bright red scarf whose tails are long enough to almost reach the ground when wrapped around her neck. Two small cross-shaped clips are attached to this scarf to keep it from unfolding when she moves around. In addition, she can always be found wearing a black leather belt, with the cross her sister gave her attached to it. Battle clothes When going out into the field, Rose wears a black long-sleeved dress with red frills extending from the sleeves, skirt, and neck of the dress. Over this, she wears a black and red leather corset laced in a repeating X pattern, though it does not function as a corset in the traditional sense, instead functioning simply as a fashion accessory and a slight layer of protection for her ribs and lower back. Underneath her dress she wears black, slightly transparent pantyhose, with black and red combat boots covering her feet. Weapon form in action Rose's weapon form is a high velocity sniper scythe, as it was dubbed by her sister when she first discovered it. Its shaft is roughly six feet long from the tip of the blade at the bottom to the end of the rifle barrel at the top. The bottom blade is about six inches long and designed to be dug into the ground to help stabilize the weapon while firing. It is set into a thick red portion of the handle, which then gives way to a thinner black section, which the weapon is usually held by. The final section to the weapon's shaft is dominated by the rifle mechanism, which is both red and black in color. A handle protrudes from the red casing, which serves as the trigger of the the gun. The barrel of the gun is encased by the blade of the scythe, which is almost four feet long from the tip of its main blade to the tip of its secondary blade. The razor sharp main blade is curved, and extends downward relative to the trigger handle in its armed position. The somewhat duller second blade is actually two parallel blades, which resemble a snake's fangs in their design, and can also be used as sights to help the meister aim when firing the rifle portion of the weapon. The weapon is very top heavy as a result of both the large main blade and the rifle mechanism built into the upper half of the shaft, and can be difficult for physically weaker meisters to even lift, much less wield. History: Rosemary was left to an orphanage when she was born, abandoned by a single mother who couldn't raise her. Unbeknownst to her mother however, the orphanage was little more than a front for a paramilitary group that raised those left in their care into cold blooded killing machines. At the age of six the orphans were paired up with “siblings” who would be their partners in their training. Rose's sister's name was Lilith, and both were assigned the codename Voss, which they adopted as their surnames. As they grew together, the Voss sisters became both fiercely loyal and fiercely competitive with one another, always seeking to one up each other in marksmanship, hand-to-hand combat, and any other challenges their overseers assigned them. At age ten, during a marksmanship test, Rose experienced her first weapon transformation. By focusing so intently on her target through the sight of her rifle she had inadvertently activated her dormant weapon blood, transforming into a powerful gun-scythe. Surprised but delighted by this turn of events, her instructors altered the Voss's curriculum to include weapon/meister training, and soon the pair grew into a deadly duo. At the same time, the sisters grew closer than ever as they worked to improve their resonance, though Rose could tell Lilith was a bit jealous of her for having a weapon form. This became especially when the younger of the sisters finally managed to perfect her partial transformation, making her proficient as a solo assassin instead of just a team player. Nevertheless, on her fourteenth birthday, Lilith gave Rose a small metal cross that she said her parents had left with her when they left her at the orphanage. It was the first and only birthday present the girl had ever received, and she wears it even still today as a memory of her cherished sister. But little did she know at the time that it would be the last happy memory she would share with Lilith. That night, after their training had come to a close for the day, the overseers called Rosemary and Lilith to the dueling ring for a special extra lesson. As both girls were now fourteen, it was time for their graduation test. Rose was excited at first, but Lilith's somber expression quickly told her that it was nothing to be happy about. The final test the sisters were to be put through was to duel each other... to the death. Naturally, she attempted to protest, citing the sister's progress in soul resonance and efficiency as a team as reasons why such a test was a barbaric waste of talent and skill, but her arguments fell on deaf ears. The overseers insisted that one battle hardened assassin was better than a soft and easily pliable duo, and ordered the fight to commence. Before Rose could even formulate a rebuttal, Lilith attacked. Stunned and mortified by her sister's assault, she took a few painful blows as she attempted to fight defensively, all the while pleading with Lilith to stop the fight so they could find another way out. But her sister insisted that, "There is no path forward, save that which is paved with our blood." Looking into Lilith's tear-filled eyes, Rose knew only one of them was leaving the arena alive that night. Purging her emotion from her mind and awakening the killer instinct that had been drilled into her since she was a child, she fought her sister tooth and nail for one final time. The girls were evenly matched, and as the night dragged by at a painful crawl, both were injured, exhausted, and weaponless... almost. With both of them hardly able to move any longer in their exhaustion, Rose activated her partial transformation, aiming the barrel of her rifle at Lilith's head. With a smile, Lilith told her she was proud to have been her sister and closed her eyes, ready for the killing shot. But Rose couldn't bring herself to pull the trigger on the sister she had grown and trained with all her life. With an agonizing slowness born of fatigue, Lilith reached up to Rose's transformed arm and grabbed hold of the trigger. "What are you doing!?" Rose exclaimed desperately. Lilith's only reply was, "Goodbye... dear sister." as she pulled the trigger down, the soul bullet striking her between the eyes, killing her instantly. After a few moments of stunned silence, Rose threw her head back and wailed at the moon in anguish, then curled up into a sobbing ball next to her sister's corpse. The overseers told her to let out all of her tears, saying her true work would begin the next day. After crying herself to sleep in the arena that night, she awoke devoid of all emotion. Her transformation into a heartless assassin was complete, though she chose to take Lilith's name as her own in memory of her sacrifice. She was then introduced to her overseers' employers, a notorious organization of assassins called the Black Horizon. She performed a variety of contracts for the Horizon over the next several years, ranging from political powers that they wanted removed to kishin eggs that jeopardized their agenda. All her missions were carried out with brutal efficiency, and the souls of the kishin eggs she killed were given to her as payment for her efforts, to make her ever more powerful. While she never asked and was never told the full extent of her employers' plans, she came to the conclusion that they were themselves receiving their orders from an even larger and more secretive organization. Rose thought should would continue in this manner until the day she died, but in this too she was mistaken. Some time after her sixteenth birthday, she was sent on a mission to kill a kishin egg that had once been in the Horizon's employ. She was not unused to Shibusen students getting in her way in the pursuit of the same target as her, so it was no great surprise when a meister and weapon interrupted her battle with this particular target. The kishin egg was quickly dispatched thanks to the distraction of the Shibusen pair's arrival, but Rose knew from experience that the interlopers wouldn't hand over its soul so easily. The ensuing battle was short and decisive. The young pair from Shibusen were skilled, but no match for the ruthless efficiency of a trained assassin. However, as Rose fired what should have been the killing shot on the meister, she was surprised to see the weapon transform and absorb the shot with her own body. Dumbfounded by this selfless and, to her mind, foolish act, she paused to ask the weapon why she had shielded her meister when both were certain to die regardless. "Isn't that obvious?" the weapon replied, still inexplicably standing between Rose and her meister despite her injury, "It's a weapon's duty to protect her meister... no matter what. And I... I don't want to see my meister die!" Stunned by the weapon's resolve and uncertain what to do about it, she turned away from the pair, quipping, "You two aren't my targets. If you want to live that badly, I'll leave you to it." With that she took the kishin egg soul and ate it, then left meister and weapon to live or die by their own conviction. As she would later learn, the pair did live, and made it back to report to Shinigami what had happened to them. The lord Death decided he couldn't allow Rose to continue operating on her own. He sent out a more experienced team to intercept her on her next mission, and this time it was the assassin who was quickly and efficiently defeated. Enraged at being caught so off guard by the pair, she demanded they tell her why they were so much stronger than the other Shibusen pairs she had fought before. They told her it was their resonance with one another that made them strong, and for the first time in years, the girl remembered how she used to resonate with her sister, and how much stronger it had made her feel. Then the pair made a startling offer. They told her she could return with them to Shibusen, and she could become stronger like they did, on her own terms. Realizing she had little reason to be loyal to the group that had forced her to kill her own sister, she hesitantly accepted. She knew the Horizon would no doubt send agents after her just as she had killed defectors when she was in their employ, but she also knew they wouldn't dare to try and attack her in Death City for fear of confronting Shinigami, and figured she could handle them if they attacked while she was on a mission. After a short probationary period as a NOT student, Rose was admitted into the EAT class shortly after her seventeenth birthday, with twelve kishin egg souls already to her name. Personality: Rose is a rather solemn individual for the most part, though she is attempting to recapture the energetic, friendly girl she once was. Her experiences in her training as an assassin drove most of her compassion and pity from her, though with the help of those she has met at Shibusen she is beginning to reclaim some of the emotion she has lost. While she still has a long way to go, she can at least empathize somewhat with others again, though resonating is still a bit difficult for her due to her somewhat closed off nature. She still withdraws from deep, personal connections out of fear that one day those she connects with might be taken away from her. When sent on a mission, she is as ruthless towards her target as she ever was as an assassin, though she no longer holds the reckless disregard for the bystanders that get in her way that she once exhibited. Even so, to Rose the mission always comes first, and if innocents are put in danger as a result of her actions, she will come to their aid only after ensuring the success of her assignment. She performs any task given to her, no matter how mundane with precision and efficiency, and cannot be deterred from her duty once it has been assigned to her until it is complete. Abilities: Technique Name: Transformation - Gunscythe Form Effects/Description: Rose's weapon form is a powerful and versatile one, though it can be a bit difficult to wield without significant training. In addition to its razor sharp main blade, it features a high powered rifle built into the shaft of the scythe, which fires rounds made of Rose and her meister's soul wavelength. The maximum rate of fire is about one round every two seconds, as each round takes time to generate in between shots. The rifle is fired by pulling the trigger handle ninety degrees down to the right, and has a powerful recoil which can be used to enhance the speed and power of the scythe's swing if used with the proper aim and timing. This is especially useful as the weapon is quite heavy, making it difficult for most meisters to swing with any sort of speed without the aid of the rifle's recoil. Of course while the rifle is useful for supplementing the swing strength of her meister, its primary function is as a long range weapon. In order to aim the meister in aiming, the scythe can be stabbed into the ground to help mitigate recoil, and the twin secondary blades of the scythe can act as a sight that the meister can look between to locate a target. The soul bullets fired by her weapon form are powerful and long ranged, capable of traveling about 100 meters and striking with enough force to knock a grown man on his back even at max range, though it will rarely kill in one shot except with a headshot at point blank range. Technique Name: Partial Transformation - Arm Rifle Form Effects/Description: When she uses her partial transformation, Rose's left arm transforms into the rifle section of her weapon form from the shoulder down. While her bullets are less powerful in this form due to being only her wavelength with no meister, they still pack a decent punch and can travel about fifty meters. Its recoil is also still an issue, particularly without the scythe blade to stabilize it, and it still fires at a rate of one shot every two seconds. Combat Style: Rose prefers the assassin's tactics of sneaking up on a foe and killing it before it can retaliate, though her weapon form's size makes stealth a bit tricky for her meister when transformed. Because of this, coupled with her difficulty resonating, she often tries to fight on her own as much as possible. Being trained in many brutally efficient martial arts and sporting her partial transformation, this isn't particularly difficult for her. On the occasion that she is required to work with a meister, she remains very analytical of the situation, offering her wielder advice on how to gain the upper hand in a fight as well as tips on how to use her weapon form effectively. Due to her weapon form's usual and somewhat difficult to master design, she prefers to train her meisters in its use somewhat before allowing them to wield her, as a matter of efficiency. Miscellaneous Information: Rosemary hates bugs, and most anything creepy, crawly, and too small to shoot with her partial transformation. Strengths:

Hey Ash! I'll be your moderator for Ms. Voss here, so let's both do our best to bring out the most in your character! To be honest, this profile is very well-constructed; but I think that there are just a few things that need a bit of polishing, so to speak. But these things are very few in number. History:
Also, how much does her full Weapon form weigh, and if it is a lot, does this make for slow, often unwieldy movement in exchange for lots of power? Or is it fairly balanced? And just for clarification, just how sharp are the blades in Rose's Weapon form? But nevertheless, I applaud your efficiency; it's obvious that you've but a lot of thought into Rose as a character, which means less extra work to do. Edited by Lammy, Feb 19 2013, 02:41 AM.
