Character: Skylar North though most call him "Sky" Age: 17 Gender: Male Type: Meister Partnered: No Image: ![]() Clothing and description: Sky is fairly athletic though he may look lanky he is surprisingly strong. He has gained an outer strength and an inner one due to his childhood struggles. He stands around five feet and 11 inches tall but doesn't seem like due to he has his back hunched over slightly most of the time. His hair is has long bangs that reach down to the middle of his face. He has it parted so you can't see his right eye majority of the time. He has really pale skin, some have even called him albino, he looks a lot more white than he is due to his contrasting black hair. His eyes are a light blue though at times it may appear silver. His typical attire consists of long sleeve turtlenecks and dark jeans or slacks. His wardrobe colors are usually gray scale colors. He only wears a t-shirt only when he thinks it is extremely hot. He feels uncomfortable when his skin is exposed. He is always seen wearing headphones whenever he isn't in combat. His battle attire doesn't differ much from his casual attire. History: Sky was orphaned when he was seven years old. His parents had died in an explosion while on a mission. It wasn't an accident since they were infiltrating a witch's liar. They were bounty hunters and got paid well. His parents were a meister and weapon duo, his dad the meister and his mom the weapon. When his parents were home they failed to give him any attention due to the fact they were fatigued from their missions. They never attended Shibusen and they did have conflicts with them for taking their jobs. When they did pay attention to him they treated him kindly but those periods of time were short. These conflicts happened often since they lived inside Death City and was not very hard to contact. He wasn't heartbroken about his parent's death though since he rarely saw them because they were always working. He didn't even know what to think about his parents since they were nearly never there. He knew they were working hard to support him even at a young age so he thought highly of them for working so hard. He was mainly raised by the nanny, who was also the maid, of their small home. When his parents died and the nanny was no longer being paid she left him alone in the empty house without saying a word to him. He watched her leave the house and the child asked where she was going as she left him in a silence. The door slammed and he ran and opened the door searching for her. She was nowhere to be found and he went back into the house. He walked back in living room and waited and waited for her return until the room was completely dark on the second day but she never came back. He then fell to his knees. His small hands grasped his knees as he let tears drop from his eyes. He wiped away the foreign substance off of his face wondering what it was. He fell over to his side not whimpering at all like other people would when they cry. He lied there with water still coming from his eyes as the deafening silence filled his ears. He was later found by people who brought him into a orphanage. He didn't adapt well into it though. He could hear other kids say stuff like,"Does that kid ever say anything?" He kept to himself and didn't bother to make friends. He wouldn't mess with others but they would with him. The memorable time he got picked on was when he was 13. He got his suspicious looking food one time and accidently tripped on the way to a table and spilt his food all over this big guy no one wanted to mess with. He got made and picked him up by the shirt and was about to punch him when his squirming legs kicked him and sent to guy flying across the room. He fell to the ground and saw that his foot had blue sparks coming out of it. The sparks dissapeared and got up to see everyone was staring at him. He saw the guy stuck in a big crater in the wall with blood gushing out of his head. The room filled with the deafening silence he hated so much. He ran out of the room with blank stares on him. He ran and sat on a curb of Death City. He pulled out a pair of headphones and mp3 player he found in the trash and fixed and plugged them in and turned on the music on full blast. He then started to relax when he thought about his parents. He looked down at his once sparking feet,"So that is a skill of a meister, huh." He then started to think about his parents and all they did for him. He knew they did all of that to support him. He looked up to the sky and softly,"Is this what I'm suppose to do?" He looked down at the ground and started to scratch the back of his head,"Come on tell me what I'm suppose to do." He looked back up at the sky with tears and resolution in his eyes,"I'm going to show you that you didn't waste your time on me. I'll prove it to you. I'll be as strong as you guys one day. Just you watch me." He kept living in the orphanage and kept studying about different techniques from books he got from the library. He studied martial arts and the different types of souls through reading the history on them. He would go out and practice his electric based attacks in a vacant area so no one would be harmed. He would practice from when the sun was up till the sun was down. Nobody would bother to talk to him so he would just indulge himself in his studies. When he finally felt comfortable with his skills he then attended Shibusen at the age 16. He started in NOT for a short time but quickly got moved to EAT. He has been attending the school for almost a year and likes it as a whole but he still keeps to himself. He excels in his classes from all the studying he had done. His interaction with other students is a little rough though he tries to be as nice as possible. He will only talk to another student if the student talks to him directly. He has no problem supporting himself due to the fact he inherited his family fortune. He now lives in an apartment in Death City. Personality: He is a quiet and lied back person. It is on rare occasion that he actually speaks unless he is with someone he trusts. When he speaks he is soft spoken and kind. He is very accepting of others though he might not understand them due to the lack of his understanding of emotions. He keeps to himself but is very protective over others. Though he is distant and silent he has a very accepting nature. This is because of he was neglected in the past and feels that others should not have to hold back who they are for the fear of rejection. This is one of the reasons he keeps to himself. His hatred and fear of silence can cause problems, especially if they are trying to infiltrate a facility undetected. He often turns his headphones so high that it can be easily heard from someone nearby. In his free time Sky likes to read while to listening to music. He also likes to walk around Death City's park and finds it really relaxing. He often goes there and watch the sunset. Sky has things that make him sad, mad, and scared. Silence is the main one. It makes him worry that he did something wrong and often have to put in headphones to make himself not worry. Another one is rejection. He fears of being rejected in fear of when he opens up the person will leave him behind. This mainly due to the fact the nanny, his mother figure, left him alone after he opened up to her like any child would to their mother. This is one of the reasons why he is so a silent and distant. He does not quite understand all emotions but he understands anger, fear, and sadness quite well. Abilities: Technique name: Shock wave Effects/Description: In this technique he sends out electric sparks from his body. This ability can hit multiple enemies. This attack is not as strong as his Sound barrier attack but it's still fairly strong. This attack can attack enemies from a distance. They can be up close and far away but not too far. Technique name: Sound barrier Effects/Description: Sound barrier is his most powerful technique. He performs shock wave as he runs, which increases his speed, and stun his opponents leaving them stunned. Opponents usually can't shake it off easily since it leaves an amplified static sound behind causing them to be disoriented. Though this technique is powerful it requires a lot of energy. If he performs it by himself he will most likely faint or struggle to stay conscious. This is why it is his desperation move. If he performs it with a weapon he will require a cool down session.((This cool down session lasts for about 1-2 posts)) Combat style: Sky likes to observe an enemies combat style before actually attacking. At the beginning of battle he will mostly evade attacks. When he finally discovers the enemies pattern and weak spot he will attack. When he is in up close confrontation he will dodge to the best of his ability and while dodging the attack he will try to land a hit on them while their guard is down due to the enemy attacking. He prefers to keep his distance in fighting. That much said he is an equal offensive and defensive player. He will only block if he is positive he can't dodge the attack in time. He likes to keep his partner from getting damage at all costs. Sky preferred weapon is a weapon that can do long range and short range damage. This being a weapon he can use like a scythe or sword and also a gun. Miscellaneous Information: Sky hates silence and wears headphones majority of the time because to him silence always means something bad is going to happen. He isn't really afraid of anything except silence. This is mainly because of the incident with the nanny and the bully. He thinks that if there is silence he has done something wrong and he would never be able to atone for what he has done. Strengths:
Weaknesses:
Roleplay sample: Sky was walking around in Death City's park by himself with his headphones on full blast. He went over to the bench and sat down. He started to watch the sun set with it's malicious grin. He took out a book from his backpack and began reading. He was taking in the music and the text when he looked up to see a small girl in a a summer plain dress crying next to a tree across from him. He stared at her for a minute and then began to put away his book in his backpack and slung the straps over his shoulders. He turned down his music a little lower as he got his stuff together. He walked over to the girl and stared at her confused. She looked up at him with tears welling up in her eyes,"I.I..I don't know where my mommy is. She told me she'd come back in a second but I...I.." She clung on to his hand with tears dripping onto the sleeve of his shirt. He placed his hand on her head and awkwardly smiled. He then wiggled his way out of her grip and climbed the apple tree she was by. He then hopped down with two apples and gave one to her. She took it hesitantly and he sat down in the grass next to her and she shortly followed. He took a bite out of his apple and watched the sun slowly dropped beyond the horizon. She took a small bite and calmed down and stopped crying. She said,"Moma and I watch the sunsets together a lot. They really are pretty, huh." He faced her and nodded to see the mother had returned. He pointed to her and the little girl followed his finger,"Moma!" She ran over and embraced her. He got up and started to walk back home when he heard the woman call out,"Thank you!" He didn't turn back as he walked away. On his way back home he went and stopped by the library he has went to since he was at the orphanage. He walked inside and was immediately noticed by the librarian who was on a latter organizing books. He stepped down the latter and approached him with his hand extended,"Oh hello Sky. Are you already back for another book?" He nodded and took off the black backpack he had on and reached inside it and pulled out the book from earlier. He placed it on the counter and librarian laughed,"Well, you finished that quickly. I guess I'm just going to have to find you a thicker book." He began to climb back on the latter,"What do you want to read about this time?" He spoke in his quiet somewhat deep voice,"I'm looking for a book about fighting techniques." The librarian pulled on the bookshelf and wheels of the latter slid across the room. He kept wheeling around until he stopped himself on the fifth bookshelf. He observed the books carefully for a minute and picked up one slowly. He lifted it so it was next to his right ear and then flung himself towards Sky. He stopped himself where the latter was last left at and he began to step down. He went behind the counter and placed a thick worn down book on the counter. The title read The History of Well Known Fighting Techniques. Sky was observing the book when the librarian said,"How about this one?" He looked up and nodded. He then pulled out a library card and handed it to the librarian. As he swiped the card he said with a curious gleam in his eye,"For a kid your age you sure read informative literature a lot. Most kids that come in here read fantasy or romance novels. Why do you read these things so often?" He shrugged,"They intrigue me that's all." The librarian laughed as he stared at him directly in his pupil,"I remember when you were a kid you used to come in and get all types of fantasy books but back then you'd never say anything to me. I think you were around thirteen when you started to check out these types of books and then you started to talk to me. A lot of things have changed I suppose." He looked down not sure what to say. A silence filled the room. He turned up the music as high as he could. The librarian then said,"The transaction is complete." The librarian handed him the book,"Return it by the end of this month." He put the book in his bag, threw the straps over his shoulders, and left without saying a word. Edited by Darkness678, Mar 7 2013, 11:58 PM.

Hey there, Darkness! Since you PMed me a request to mod your character, I thought I might as well accept the invitation. So without further ado, allow me to begin the modding process~ History:
Also, normally, people are not "born" as Meisters, rather, they choose to become one. While Sky may exhibit a proficiency with electricity, this does not automatically classify him as a Meister. In order to become a Meister, one usually attends Shibusen in order to obtain a Weapon partner and become experienced in combating Kishin Eggs. Therefore, I would omit the following parts of Sky's history...
Personality: This is a good start! But, what sort of things make Sky incredibly angry or sad; what really makes the character tick? In contrast, are there a lot of things that Sky enjoys? Does he have any hobbies, etc? How hard is it for Sky to open up to people, and what might make the process easier? Also, do not mention his use of Soul Perception here, rather, put it in Combat Style. Abilities: There a are a couple of things wrong with this section... The first being that, it doesn't necessarily follow the proper format. Normally, a character's abilities are categorized as such in the profile... Technique Name: Example Ability Effects/Description: Description of Example Ability, and any possible technicalities; such as cool down periods, limitations as to when the ability can be performed, side effects, possible fatigue after using ability, etc. Plus, it seems that Sky has much too many abilities than a character is allowed at creation. Generally speaking, we usually allow 2-3, depending on how powerful and balanced each one is. For Meisters, this often includes a signature ability (in Sky's case, this is his electric attack) and perhaps Soul Perception. Combat Style: I would suggest changes be made here, but I think you've neglected to include a Combat Style section! Here is your chance to talk about how Sky operates on the battle field. Is he more of a berserker type, preferring an all-out attack strategy, or does he plan to focus evenly on both offense on defense? It's also a good idea to tie in the character's Strengths and Weaknesses with the Combat Style as long as they might apply to a combat situation. For example, a character who is very frail (included in Weaknesses) might compensate for this by guarding often, or focusing on dodging. Miscellaneous Information: This seems like a very good personality to include, Darkness! Why is it that Sky dislikes silence, or rather, explain how he has come to associate it with the feeling that something bad is about to happen. Is it because of the incident with the nanny? Strengths and Weaknesses: How is having an accepting nature count as a strength? Also, isn't Sky a very silent, distant character to begin with? In what ways is he accepting? (Talk about this in Personality~) Also, what sort of problems might never wanting silence present (Another thing to include in Personality!) Roleplay Sample: I think that if you give the Rules another look, you'll find out what it is you're missing here. Other than that, I would recommend cleaning the profile up grammatically and checking for spelling errors as well. Just shoot me a PM if you have any questions, and I'll see you again in Round 2 of the modding process! |

Hello again, Darkness! I have to say, you've made a lot of improvement here! I'm actually very impressed. So much so, that I think that there are only a few more things we need to tidy up here before we're ready to accept the character! Firstly, now that I've read over the things you've added and such, it would be great if you went ahead and removed the text colors from the application, save for those used in the Roleplay Sample. Not that I'm against color or anything, it's just that profiles are traditionally written using the same font color throughout, so I apologize if this seems a little nit picky. History: You've tied up all the loose ends here, except that I'd like you to expand on what sort of things it was he studied in his free time, and what sort of books he checked out that allowed him to do so. Other than that, I'd say that we're all good here! Abilities: Thanks for reformatting this section! However, I see that Shockwave includes not one ability, but two, which is sort of a problem. I would suggest making a separate ability description and such for this so-called "Sound Barrier" technique, and perhaps tone it down just a bit. Breaking the sound barrier is no small task, so perhaps instead of producing a sonic boom, Sky could perhaps unleash a shockwave as he runs that would increase his speed (albeit not as fast as the speed of sound) as well as stun his opponents? Also, include how long the opponent is stunned for. Is it easy to shake off, or could it leave a character unable to act for a post? In contrast, would this also apply to Sky, as after exerting so much energy, perhaps he has to rest for a period of time. Although you mentioned that it takes a lot of energy, simply add in these technicalities (cool down, etc.) and I think we'll be good. Combat Style: Does Sky have a preferred type of Weapon which he would like to have as a partner? Including this in your Combat Style helps when searching for a partner. Roleplay Sample: This is great! I love the amount of detail you put into the sample; and I think it really sums up the character well, especially the scene with the librarian. Perhaps they will become an important NPC as Sky progresses in the RP? Nevertheless, the only thing you're missing is a key phrase. Give the Rules and such a look over once more and I'm certain you'll see what I mean. With that said, I'm really liking this character, and it's obvious from how much this profile has improved from the previous one that you're willing to put in the time and effort that is necessary to succeed when it comes to writing. I sincerely look forward not only to accepting the character, but also seeing Sky in action. Until next time~ |

Fantastic. In fact, only a couple of minor things to add. All you need to do is clarify the range of Shock Wave, and how long the cool-down Sound Barrier lats. Is it only once per mission, or after a number of posts, say 2, for example? After that, we'll be ready to accept! Edited by Lammy, Mar 6 2013, 08:39 AM.

I would accept it as it is, but the head mod wants you to edit your first character sheet so that it matches the second, approved one. As in, copy everything from the second one, open up the first one, delete all that information and replace it with the new information. That way, you'll be left with one, updated and approved character sheet.
