Character: Sigil Nathaniel Missions to hand in: The Dead Albatross and 42r's first MEGA Test New Ability Name: Yajugazan (Beast Fang Slash) Effects/Description: A self-resonation technique that makes use of a fragment of Sigil’s soul imbued into a bladed weapon. This is basically an upgrade to Soul Smithing, the Ripper and thus has the same limitations, but instead of discharging the soul wavelength energy into a target with contact, the soul wavelength energy will take shape of a bestial head on the weapon. Sigil will then fling this mass of soul wavelength energy at an opponent. The exact form the soul wavelength energy takes will often depend on which wereform Sigil is in, randomly shaped in human form I suppose. In addition to the mass of soul wavelength energy, the metal shards of the broken weapon is also in the mass of soul wavelength energy, acting as a sort of medium to guide the attack. The distance that the Yajugazan can reach depends on how long Sigil charges this attack. Every second spent charging the attack, increases the distance the attack can reach before dissipating by 1 foot, and maxes out at 10 feet. Any further charging after 10 seconds doesn't improve the attack and instead just holds it in place before releasing it. Sigil can only hold the attack a further 10 seconds before it dissipates by itself and recalls the soul fragment back to his soul without any discharge the weapon will still break however. Any other changes: nope Edited by Tatsuken, Dec 15 2013, 05:08 AM.

note Sigil was sitting in front of a fire which, to Marion’s dismay, he made in the living room. Over this fire was a pot, filled with ingredients for lamb stew following the success of his last hunting trip in which he took down a desert big horn sheep. He was thinking about how bad the conditions were trying to get the sheep. While he did expect the rocky terrain getting down a canyon to reach the herd, he quickly regretted not having some sort of ranged weapon like a bow and arrows. Just as he decided he should bring a composite bow and a quiver of arrows, he realized that he probably wouldn’t be able to use the two handed weapon while climbing a canyon. Considering other options, such as guns and blow darts, Sigil would find some sort of problem with the idea, mainly there not being enough time before his next hunting trip. Sigil gave up trying to figure something out, he was hungry and thinking on an empty stomach was just giving him a headache. First, he would deal with his hunger. Luckily, the stew was coming to a finish and Sigil could just about ladle himself some to eat. As Sigil ate he continued to reminisce about the hunt. This time he was not thinking about the problems he encountered and any solutions to deal with it next time, but rather the actual hunt itself. While it wasn’t really as difficult as taking down a kishin egg, it was interesting in its own way. The particular sheep Sigil had taken down had put up a fight. It was a valiant effort, and the sheep even managed to get Sigil to use one of his soul imbued knives in the take down after Sigil let his guard down, underestimating the sheep. Just as Sigil finished eating, it came to him. Maybe he didn’t need to make a new weapon. Instead he could try and figure something out with one of his soul imbued weapons. Sigil got up and put away the food as well as put out the fire before making preparations for this new project. Sigil spent most of his free time the next couple of days forging new weapons, in this case simple knives, and imbuing fragments of his soul within them. The day after he had completed the 6 knives he could Sigil set off to find a place to train. The easiest location would probably be within Shibusen itself. While Sigil didn’t manage to get a room to train in or sufficient space in other training areas he was able to borrow a wooden post used normally for accuracy practice with throwing weapons. It was almost perfect considering what he was about to do. Sigil brought home the wooden post and set it up in his backyard. Afterward, Sigil twirled around a knife, testing his dexterity and making sure he was in good enough condition to even begin trying anything like this. He caught the knife by the hilt, blade forward, and slashed toward the wooden post, recalling the fragment of his soul in the knife. The resulting energy destroyed the blade sending metal shards everywhere, rather than where Sigil was aiming. Sigil let out his breath that he didn’t realize he was holding. It wasn’t like he expected to get it right away, but he wasn’t really sure what to expect at all. Sigil drew out another knife and focused on the post, trying to take aim this time. Sigil swung the knife and simultaneously pulled on the soul fragment within, shattering the weapon causing a spray of metal fragments in the post’s direction, some of which actually managed to hit the post. Although it was somewhat flashy and did basically give Sigil a more ranged option in fights, it wasn’t exactly what he was looking for. It might be useful for scare tactics, but unless some of these fragments hit particularly sensitive parts of an opponent, like the eyes, it wouldn’t be much more than that. Sigil repeated this process with the remaining 4 knives, each time getting slightly more accurate with the metal shards, or so it seemed to Sigil. With all the fragments of his soul reclaimed Sigil had to retire from learning this new ability for the day. From this point on it was as if he were caught in a montage, spending his free time forging new weapons and then using these weapons to train for several days with a few milestones and training-within-everyday-tasks here and there. For example, testing the technique on another big horned sheep and angering it more than injuring it, or somehow ending up with help from Professor Stein, or at least some form of conversation (for all we know they could’ve been talking about their preferred dissection methods instead of Sigil being lectured or given advice), perhaps a later scene shows Stein talking to Sigil while he’s actually trying to learn his new technique (thus making it less likely the previous conversation was a proper social activity), we’ll sprinkle in a few other people he may have talked with about this technique like Marion, maybe Bullet, and possibly Charm. But throughout the montage full of details I have decided to deem boring or where there purely for namedrops or something, were important milestones in the training of this technique. For example, Sigil was decisive on making it a full on soul wavelength technique since the metal shards themselves didn’t do much. He also discovered the need to charge up his soul wavelength before he could unleash it in order to give it some substance and more importantly distance. Sigil also found himself unable to hold the attack after fully charging it for more than 10 seconds. After observations made by Marion Sigil also found out that his attack was fully charged in 10 seconds and any further attempts at charging his attack did nothing, or at least he couldn’t figure out how to get past that threshold. Sigil instead decided to focus on the mass of soul energy he was unleashing. By this point in the montage, pretty late into it with signs of finishing soon, his Yajugazan was nearly completed and he could make a ranged attack using a mass of soul wavelength gathered while charging his attack before pulling the fragment of his soul back into his body. However, this mass of Soul wavelength energy was somewhat unstable, with each new attempt at perfecting or mastering the technique being only slightly better. Sigil’s montage of training (in an attempt to skim unimportant details, give mods less to read since they’re busy, and cause I’m sick and tired of rewriting this thread over and over again) had come to a close with Sigil wielding a sheathed Katana, 10 feet away from the wooden post he borrowed from shibusen, and Sigil clearly charging up his attack. Sigil drew out the blade, slashing in the direction of the post, with the urge to call out his attack overpowering him. “Yajugazan!” Sigil called out as the Katana blade shattered, almost explosively, mid swing. Not only sending metal shrapnel flying towards the post, but unleashing the soul wavelength energy the sword had gathered within. The metal shards appeared to have spontaneously combusted into a ball of soul wavelength energy at that moment and turned into what appeared to be a beast’s head with its mouth open. As it made contact with the post it appeared as if the beast head bit onto the post just before the rest of the soul energy collided into the post, doing pretty much nothing to it in the process. With the new technique completed Sigil looked forward to future use of the technique, hoping that he could quickly put it to practical use in combat soon. |
