First would be a full set of glossy (not matte) black Stormtrooper armor. Shiny .090 ABS is what I've seen produced (and currently own).

Neck seal: You can find these on eBay or the Legion forums. I think TK409 still offers them at a decent price on his site at TK409.com. Mine is from Jeff in Australia.

Bodysuits: UnderArmor is your friend. You can also use a dancer's black unitard or there are custom bodysuits on eBay.

Gloves: Black Jerseys from Wal-Mart work well, although I personally prefer leather. Nomex flight gloves (black) are accepted. The "real" troopers from the movies wore black rubber gloves - trust me, you'll sweat ounces of water if you dare wear rubber gloves.

Boots:

$57 (Posted by TheLoneKnight): http://www.brokenspokewesternwear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=7517

These are the most accurate, but very pricey:

Timberland Torrence Chelsea Boot ($115) Accurate, but needs a good polish:

Also try Froogle for pricing (but the boots must be black):

Yet another boot source: Submitted by Ekho...

Holster and blaster (E-11 or BFG)
- Replica weapons can be bought off eBay or I use the RPF. I personally hate the Kenner/Hasbro blasters, but if properly weathered and resin parts kit are added, they can look ok.

Pauldrons are strictly OPTIONAL (they simply show rank and I won't get into the whole 501st Sandy debate here) and not endorsed for wear by the Legion. I wear an orange one on occaision, but only when I carry my BFG. If you don't carry a BFG and have ammo pouches, you probably shouldn't wear a pauldron.

We can tighten the specs as we get more members and debate topics, but I think this is a good starting point.

The point of the Spec Ops Detachment is to be the best of the best, and thus, should hold ourselves to a higher standard when in public.

Hehe. Actually the armor looks just plain evil when compared to the regular TK. Gotta love it!

Uh, that's weird. My reply above is NOT what I wrote and posted. I know because I both previewed it and checked it after I submitted it. What has been removed is both the quote of the preceding "best of the best" from COS_Vader and my play on it (the best of the best of the best) which is what contains the reference to Men in Black.

What happened here? Did someone edit my post?

I accidentally edited your post rather than reply to it. It was my bad - I just couldn't remember exactly what you had originally said and did my best to re-edit it, but I goofed.

Just bad clicking on my part. Sorry. No offense implied.

No harm, no foul. Mistakes happen. I'm glad it was just that and not a problem with the site. :)

Nah, I'm just getting the hang of it. I'm certain I'll goof up again as an admin, but it's not on my agenda of things to do. ;)

And I will never censor anyone on purpose unless they get hateful or racist, but I can't see that happenning here.

I can't see that happenning here.

So there'd be no problem if I were to suggest that it's sacrilege to wear any pauldron other than a black one with a Stealthtrooper costume? :D

Without getting into the flamewar on the 501st Legion Yahoo group, pauldrons and their colors denote rank and nothing more. I can't see them being banned for TKs and TXs, and as a CO here, I will NOT ban them for Spec Ops use. Troopers with them look sharp and stand out from the ordinary flood of stormtroopers.

Personally, my opinion is to do what you think makes you look best in the public's eye. In a theoretical Star Wars combat situation, I would very much agree with you.

What would be nice is a custom modified pauldron (with a flap and velcro tab) so you can black out the rank color when in combat operations and fold back the flap (to show the rank color) when not.

I don't think it would be a major modification and it should be possible to commision these JUST for our Spec Ops trooper use.

I also think this would distinguish our Det from all the other specialized 501st Dets.

How does that sound?

OK all. Here are the pics of my armor. It is considerd cannon, as it is the armor I used to get my TX ID.

Here is the basic front shot of the bucket.

and of course the side,

and the back.

Close-up of the frown with the "teeth" cut out for airflow.
The next pics are of the inside of the bucket..it's not pretty, but it works. I use 2 12v computer fans for ventilation, and replaced the bubble lenses with flat lenses.

Next are the boots. I have been using the Sketchers boots for the last year. They are almost an exact of the white cabot boot, but only cost $39.00.

And finally some full armor pics showing how well the Sketchers boots go with the rest of the uniform.

and of course one with the ladies... ;)

I hope this helps everyone out. If you have any questions or need help with your armor, send me an email or PM

Yeah! That's why I love the TX as it does look very evil.

And good call on the Sketchers boots. I use them on my TX and another model (but same brand) for my Clone. Comfy as heck, unlike some of the cheaper TK boots you can get.

Hey all, I haven't joined the forum yet, but I wanted to pose a question.

I've been thinking about how I would do a "Stealth" Trooper for a few months now, and it occured to me that everything I've seen in the real-world that pertains to stealth is as matte black you can get (that is, if it's black to begin with). As with the F-117A Stealth fighter, the matte black paint would screw with any kind of visual detection or radar.

If a Stealth Trooper was in a dark hallway or dark room, I don't think glossy armor would help if there was a minimal light source (that light would reflect all over the armor). Not very stealth to me, as least as far as naked-eye detection is concerned.

Of course, as per the StarWars.com website, we know it's what the armor is made of that makes it stealth for sensors:

"Per his orders, the stormtroopers under his command had their armor cast in black to match his own particular eccentricities. The armor modification had practical benefits as well. The stygian-triprismatic polymer afforded the stormtroopers increased sensor-stealth."

... but it still makes sense for me for the armor to be cast in matte black to help with naked-eye detection. Plus it would make it look more "real military" I think.

Your thoughts?

After much thought and contemplation I have decided I want to be a Blackhole Stealthtrooper within the spec ops detachment. I've read about the history of Blackhole's operations and direct connections to the Emperor himself, and it's definatly the division for me.
