did you have any problem with the rubber cement leaveing a residue behind. I tried it and it seems like it bonded some with the abs, causeing the abs to pit a little bit. Its not noticible for a distance but under 2 feet its kinda noticible. Ah well guess I will have to make it my TX/TD MEPD SWAT suit after all:) Now i just need to get some money together and find another fan that makes just the helmet.

no i didnt have any trouble with residue from rubber cement.. well.. i had a bit more trouble with the black armor accepting tape like the white armor did. and the glue for the armor doesnt act like it did on the whites either.. makes me wonder what exactly the black has different in it to make it not work like the whites did. i had to get some goo gone and get the tape residue off when i didnt expect that. but the rubber cement was fine for me.

this sections brought wealth of info to me and i sincerely like to thank everyone here and the mod for sharing...my question as i posted as a new topic..are we allowed to apply color red on ear, vent and mouth of the helmet plus the buttons on the belly plate instead of grey... and the rest of the body and leg armour will be left untouched and retained .

Just as follows

For an official 501st TX ID, I'd simply temporarily cover up the red with electrical tape, take your official 501st TX costume photo, then peel off the tape and you're good to go.

Hopefully we'll be able to find a Stealth/Blackhole trooper with red or blue markings and you'll be golden. It's just a matter of researching through the comics for a pic.

From my personal experince, your TX would not be approved as is. Mine has the frown, mouth, tube vents, ears, tear drops and back trapazoids colored red. I also have a blood red pauldron that matches the paint. I was told that they only authorized/approved Stealth trooper is the pure black one or the black with silver frown. I don't mind that except one thing. The 501st TX page lists a number of TXs that do not follow these requirments, and therefore lead to misunderstandings. I patterned mine after TX2026. I figured(read assumed) that if one person(actually quite a few more then 1) had been approved like that then it must me okay. I personally think that tightening the requirments for canon events are great, but I really do think they should allow custom suits for EU characters. As COS-Vader said, cover it with electrical tape, snap your pictures, and take the tape off or just submit it as is. If you do get approved then send me your membership officers email so I can get him to approve me too:)

The unique and good thing about us is that as a Detachment, we do recognize (and celebrate) custom TXs...

http://s11.invisionfree.com/501st_Spec_Ops...hp?showforum=24

The bad thing is that the Legion officially does not so you can't get a TX ID with a custom yet, but hopefully this will change in the near future.

Here are my suggested demo specs that we'll send to the Legion Membership Officer... Please debate or approve knowing this will be law if approved.

STEALTH TROOPER or BLACK HOLE TROOPER

A Stealth Trooper MUST have the following:
- Black professional-quality Stormtrooper armor (made of ABS, HIPS, Styrene, or Fiberglass).
- Black Gloves (Preferrably leather, but can be rubber or Jersey-style cloth).
- Black undersuit, either one-piece or two piece. Non-textured material. Commonly used items include “UnderArmor” or “Starter” warm-up suits, or dance unitards.
- Black "Chelsea-style" ankle high, laceless boots. Boots may be Leather or Vinyl preferrably with small U-shaped elastic sections on either side of the ankle, and up to a 1” heel.
- Opaque flat or bubbled helmet lenses, colored either black, smoke, or green. You must not be able to see your eyes through the helmet.
- Blaster. May be an E-11 or BFG. MG34 (DLT19), Lewis Gun (T21), or MG15 (unnamed in SW galaxy). These weapons may be a modified toy blaster (i.e. Hasbro), scratch-built, resin cast, hyperfirm rubber cast, vaccum-formed, MR, or real demilitarized guns.
- E11 holster worn only when an E11 is carried
- Silver or black helmet frown

OPTIONAL Stealth Trooper Modifications (Accepted, but not at all required)
- Rank Pauldron (Black, Grey, Orange, or White) Made from vinyl or leather.
- Black Leather, Vinyl, or Canvas Ammunition Pouches (MP40, MP38, or similarly styled) Worn on the left shoulder, and also on the belt. Ammo pouches may only be worn when a BFG is carried.
- Black Macrobinoculars. Styled after those used in the Special Edition.
- No thermal detonator when ammo pouch is worn
- Black ANH Stormtrooper-style ComLink
- Hinged cod piece.
- Helmet CPU fans.
- Voice amplifier and/or voice effect board w/Static Burst.
- Black Hovi-Mix cast “tusks”
- Black Canvas belt.
- Thermal Detonator
- Four “teeth” cut out and backed with black screen on either side of helmet “frown”.

Question. Should backpacks/spacepacks etc. be considered acceptable for stealth troopers? Just a question.

Honestly, I see no reason their load-out would be any different than any Stormtrooper/Sandtrooper, so I'd say yes (especially after seeing Erik Ross's excellent TX Sandy), but unless we can come up with pictorial proof for the LMO, I'd say they are strictly optional.

Agreement or disagreements? Speak now or forever hold your piece. This is why we're debating it prior to making it costuming law. ;)

despite i m new here ...i like to proposed the following to really expand the possibility but this is just my thoughts

Silver or black helmet frown

can we add at least red / gold for it...red is because of this legion official patches color scheme are comprises of red/black and silver/ white and i think that can stand up as valid reason that are following the color schema ....

gold is to create the option for novatrooper which is the eilite of the elite...

Rank Pauldron (Black, Grey, Orange, or White) Made from vinyl or leather

i think red pauldron should be considered as an official ranking since other colors scheme are used by sandtroopers which techinically to say we are not part of the sandtroopers legion but an elite by ourselves so red pauldron should differs us from them

any advice and corrections are appreciated

thks

The problem is, to my knowledge, there is no visual or word evidence to back either a red frown or red pauldron, which is what the LMO will demand of us. If we can find 3 visual examples, then it is considered costume law.

The frown colors are visually backed up by the comics and video games. If we can find evidence of red or blue, we'll accept it. Otherwise, it's considered a custom, which is still ok, but does not qualify for a TX ID. Gold would be a Novatrooper and not a Stealth/Blackhole Trooper, and that costume has it's own unique requirements.

Pauldron colors (white, black, orange) are defined as stormtrooper rank by LFL, and I've proven to the LMO with visual evidence that they are not Sandtrooper-only (Regular TKs had them in the Marvel comics way back in 1978):

"A stormtrooper sergeant's pauldron is white while an enlisted stormtrooper's pauldron is all black. Squad leaders, who lead units of seven troopers, wear orange shoulder pauldrons."

You can read all about that via the official 501st thread:
http://www.501stforums.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4261

Hope that clarifies it.
