Hi! My name is Rodney and I am also a member of the 501st. Currently, I am a Sith Lord (Darth Vader EP3 / SL-3184). I have recently purchased Shadow Trooper armor , and am now in the process of putting it all together. Right now I need some advice on where to purchase some reasonable priced boots. I also need advice on what kind of lenses to install in the helmet, and where can I purchase an E-11 blaster. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Rodney, welcome brother! You already have something in common with our DL Kev. He has both a Vader and a TX(along with a bunch of other costumes). Crazas is correct about the flat lenses, DONT go bubble IMHO. Boots:

Good source for boots - http://www.shoes.com/product.asp?p=5012394...ariant_id=37473

Sketcher Defender - not the most accurate, but they'll work:

These are the most accurate, but very pricey:

Timberland Torrence Chelsea Boot ($115) Accurate, but needs a good polish:

Also try Froogle for pricing (but the boots must be black):

Yet another boot source: Submitted by Ekho...

E-11, Crazas is also correct on this one. If you can't find one "pm" me for some options ;)

Anyway glad you are here and BTW this is one of the best detachments in the legion. :P

I'll have to look for the boot thread here on the forums (maybe I should make it sticky), so I'll get back to that. Oops, here it is:

Flat or bubble lenses are good, and there's a current "run" for lenses in this foum as well.

As for the blaster, most people stick with the Hasbro blaster and repaint it. eBay would be your best bet but I've seen them at Wal-Mart. Worst comes to worst, you can make one out of PVC:

Hope that helps!

You can't go wrong with that tutorial on Imperial Fleet. His attention to detail is awesome. I think his tutorials are great. If you have a hand for constructing your own weapon prop, then using his tutorials are the way to go.

Yep the tutorial is really cool, but if you're not too skilled (like myself) you can always do the "big parts" job and grab a "finish resin kit" on EBAY to gain detail and accuracy on your E 11

I found these boots lying around my house that a friend gave to me a few months ago. I originally was going to use them with my Vader costume, but noticed that they were too short. However, they may be the right height for the Shadow Trooper costume. I may have to shorten them a tad more, and will check with a local leather smith about the cost. What do you guys and gals think?

Those will work perfectly, as long as the calf/shin piece fits over it. It looks like it should so you are set in the boots area. :)

Maybe I'm wrong but it seems to me that not only those are way too tall, but also too wide, I think you will need to fix it. But, if I'm wrong (and I hope I am) and you can put it into the armor they look pretty cool.

They are about 10 inches tall and are a little wide at the top. That is why I am going to take them to a leather smith here in town to modify them for me.

There are a lot of good resources out there, but as I'm rebuilding my suit, I'll put up a good photo tutorial for you. It's not hard - just takes time. Give me a day or two.

Also, whitearmor.net has a great wealth of talent over there, so give them a look-see as well.
