Looks like TK armor with a cross between TK and TB helm... Radiation zone assault troopers, also known as radiation troopers or simply radtroopers, were an elite Imperial stormtrooper division. They were well equipped to operate in one of the deadliest terrain types. A lead-polymer substrate in the modified plastoid armor gave protection needed to withstand lethal Grade 5 radiation zone for several hours. Only the radtrooper suits were proof against extended operations in deadly environments. The Galactic Empire deployed them into radiation-filled zones that contained assets the Empire wanted to claim or defend. The Empire was known to employ neutron bombs, which killed or maimed a large number of the local population. Radtroopers were normally equipped with vibroblades, force pikes and grenades, as blasters lost their effectiveness in high rad conditions. Some special, high output blasters were issued to radtroopers. http://starwars.wikicities.com/wiki/Radiat...Assault_Trooper |

This would be a very easy costume to make. The only thing that needs to be actually created is the bucket, a cross between a TB and a TK. I am considdering this as a future "That'd be nice" project... if I can get the chrome... |

From looking at the pic you provided Kev, I would say that a TK could be moded to make an acurate Radtrooper... If anyone is working this let me know, I might have an extra FX TK to experiment with... might. |

I kinda like the dual holster thing it's got going on (like Jango). That illustration is from the West End Games booklet. Most of it would be easy to convert from a standard TK. But half the problem is EU pics are all over the place, unlike canon costumes which are mostly consistant. I guess it's up to us to refine the standard. |

I agree with you Kev, we need to sit down and map out exactly what the standards should be. We could have two "authorized" costumes or we could combine all the different ones and make a new costume. Just some suggestions... |

Personally, I'd lean towards the last picture, as it shows detail unlike the first ones. |

So does that mean we are using that as the standard for the Radtrooper? |

No, that's just my opinion/vote. It's up to all of us (or at least folks who are doing the costume). |

Hi, although I am not int at this stage in creating a radtrooper I thought the following picture would help those who wanted more ideas. Andrew http://www.rebelscum.com/toys/amrad.jpg |

When I spoke to the Japanese Garrison guy (at this year's ComicCon) that did the C3 helm, he said he's working on the full suit! So it's entirely possible that you'll see this at Star Wars Celebration IV. The helm looked pretty awesome. I bet the new "Killer Chrome" spraypaint from ALSA would work really well if you seriously primed the suit beforehand... Check out the demo on the RPF: http://www.therpf.com/index.php?showtopic=116118 It's very expensive but delivers apparently awesome results. Here's what they're supposed to look like: http://www.galacticempiredatabank.com/Radtrooper.html Here's the Japanese RadTrooper - http://www.flickr.com/photos/starwarsblog/2680468149/ Not quite CRL-worthy, but very cool. |
