Bombtroopers or bomb squad stormtroopers, were an elite class of Imperial stormtrooper trained in the activation and deactivation of explosive charges. http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Bombtrooper |

Nice find. Haven't been back there in a while - looks like they did a couple of edits since I last went there.

Hello all, found this and thought I'd make sure it found its way over here. Very tempted to make one of these after having seen The Hurt Locker. Might go find the marvel comic and see if there are any more images that can be used for reference.![]() Can't speak for as to where it image came from. I found it on a Spanish site that seemed to have taken the images from other sources. Seems to be very similar to a snow trooper with a few drastic modifications from the waist down. Edit; Figured I'd get the images from wookiepedia and put them up here as well. In case anything happens over there that results in the removal of the images. ![]()

Got my hands on a copy of Star Wars 56: Coffin in the Clouds and decided to scan all the frames that have bombtroopers in them. Should be able to get a good set of references from here, might be a good pep project? Anyone got good 3d modeling skills? If someone wants to do the models, I'll can try to have a play around with unfolding them.![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() There's also the 'SPING!' image in the above post. That image is the frame just before the last one in this post in the comic. |

Best I could do is a zoomed in version of that panel (2nd last one). It was a pretty small image in the comic. Actually, on second inspection, there appears to be two back pack types. The one in the 2nd last image shows a smooth flat upper half. The image above shows a back pack with two circular depressions in the upper half of the backpack. And in the 3rd one, they don't even seem to be wearing backpacks. EDIT 2: I had a play around with resizing the 7th frame from above, I was surprised it zoomed so cleanly, I was expecting more pixellation. Hope this helps.

If you raise the DPI, it should make a bigger output image when scanning. Looks pretty cool. I'm not sure how viable this is for 501st approval, but it would look pretty sweet. |

Hmm, my scanner isn't a great one. I'll see what I can do, but no promises. Looks like the hat, eyes, chest, back, pack and knees are all solid, the rest seems to be material. The helmet wouldn't be hard, a 3d model could be pepped for the hat and eyes, then just use the vinyl that is used for snowies to do the huge cowl. Chest and back could also be pepped, the skirt would be the same as a snowie. How about the boots, undersuit and gloves? It'd be pretty cool to see one of these, but yeah, not sure if it would be approvable or not. |
