What if one side said Special, and the other said Operations, instead of EU Troopers on both sides?

How about "Special Operations Detachment" on the front and 501st legion on the back?

Well, I think that we need to have the shield on it. The shield already says "Special Ops" on it, so there's no real need to have that on both sides. It doesn't need to have the word "Deatchment" on it, it'll probably just confuse non-members who saw it. And it needs to say "501st Legion" on it somewhere. We're not a legion of our own. We're part of something bigger, and I think having the Legion logo on our coin shows that. At the very least, I think the two sides should have different designs, and not something convoluted and hard to make out in just one or two colors (like a bunch of posed troopers). There's no need to say "EU troopers", as anyone who sees it would either recognize that we're from EU, or not know what EU is to begin with. Plus, like Rob said, EU is kinda marking ourselves as outcasts. "Hey, look at us, we're obscure!" <_< Do we really want that? I say have whoever did the photoshop work for Cujo's design apply the same effects to my design (so that effects aren't an issue), and then have the vote. It's been almost two weeks since the last post in here, and we've only got two visualized ideas so far, after almost a year of this being open. Let's get this finished and kick some challenge coin butt.

Rome wasn't built in a day. I would rather take my time and get it right then to slush it all together for a piece of crap quick fix.

Its been two weeks because my design artist has been on vacation. Have patience. And we should hear more brainstorming.

Hey Everyone, i know i'm not an official member, but here's my take on the Coin design, no idea if it's too late for this. Right after i did it i was on google something a little similar to what i did with the helmet but it was with a standard TK.
I'm gonna try to upload the image if it doesn't show then look at it here: http://bp3.blogger.com/_nyvwaivjOOo/Rs5HU0...Shadow_coin.jpg

Hm, still don't know why it won't show my images. Anyways, i took everything i saw on the boards and combined it with a little bit of my own ideas there, hope you all enjoy it.
I didn't hunt real hard for an Imperial Logo that had a resolution high enough to size right without getting grainy, so if you guys like it i can make it look a bit cleaner.

The idea behind the layout of having both the shield and the 501st on the same side and connected with the red rings around the logos as well as the red ring around the coin, is to symbolize the connection between both of them. With the backdrop being the Imperial logo, symbolizing Star Wars and how it has brought us all together.
The backside is obviously to honor the special ops that this DET represents, stay to the shadows ya know ;).

I'm thinking it might be a good move to add a red ring on the back side of the coin as well...

UPDATED I added that red ring on the back side and some high lights to the other red rings.
heres the link to it: http://bp2.blogger.com/_nyvwaivjOOo/Rs5gok...hadow_coin2.jpg

I chose the Black Hole Trooper helmet because that style of helmet is the most easily identifiable and iconic image of starwars that is directly related to this DET.

I believe someone mentioned it would be cool if people could get ther TX ID engraved on part of the coin. The back side of this coin could allow for that easily, jsut downsize the helmet a little and there is plenty of room for that.

So, should we split up the sides and vote on individual sides?

Take the strongest designs for each side and put them together on one coin? Sounds good to

I will say that our distinctive shield is the most recognizable design we have that distinguishes us from the other Dets and should be on the final coin. I would wish that the reverse show our affiliation with the Legion somehow.

EU Troopers is not necessary because we house the HWT's, which are movie canon and are not EU. In the end, we're Special Operations Troopers, or TXs, and that's good enough for me personally to set us apart. ;)

Well, I'd say go ahead and put it to a vote. This topic keeps dying out every couple of days, and gets revived a couple of weeks later, just to die off again.

From what COS_Vader is saying, I think my design is closest to what he envisioned, as well as being closest to the "standard" design that most of the coins (that I've seen) have (deatchment/garrison design on one side, 501st-related image on the other).

And honestly, as a visual arts student, I think that the one that Cujo submitted is the next best one. If not my design, I'd say maybe the left half of his, with the old 501st logo on the flip side (the new one's got too much grey in it).
