I can't believe I was lucky enough to find one myself. Here I was thinking I was going to have to spend extra, so it's always nice to find a bargain. Funny how retail is considered a bargain. ![]() Ya know I'd actually considered the possibility of weathering my armor a tiny bit after seeing this version. I think the blue undersuit kinda adds a nice little contrast. I'm not so sure how well that would translate to real life though. It's definitely tempting to paint my helmet like this version. Anyone know where I can find some bubble lenses? |

The big problem is that such changes are not accepted as canon and the 501 st is not going to give you a TX ID with it (evn if the first TX are VERY stranges, nos that the requirements are set it becomes more difficult to have such customisations) Just my 2 cts |

Wow, so a little weathering and all of a sudden it's not canon? That's unfortunate. I can understand some paint schemes are just not acceptable, but I don't see how a little weathering around the edges would effect the overall appearance. So I take it the pauldrons and ammo packs are not acceptable accessories either now? How about comlinks? |

Bactareality the best place to check is right here: http://z11.invisionfree.com/501st_Spec_Ops...howtopic=2&st=0 In regards to dirtying up your armor, just do it after you submit your photos. We actually have a TX sandtrooper here. He customized it after his pics. It looks really cool. Now about the pauldron, those are definately accepted and encouraged. In my TX pic I have one on. And I have seen others with the ammo pouches so don't worry about those. Hope that helps, bro!

Thanks for the link. Considering I've already picked up a black pauldron and comlink, it's reassuring that I'll be able to use em. I started to second guess myself there for a sec. I thought I remembered reading that thread laying out the acceptable accessories list, but after hearing about the weathering issue, I got paranoid and started thinking the requirements had changed when I was looking the other way. I'd also decided to accessorize a bit more and pick up a pretty nice looking SE-14R replica as well. After refreshing my memory with that thread, I now realize I will need a BFG to go with my ammo pouch I have on order too. Initially I was pretty certain I was going to go for the medicom or GG shadow stormtrooper version, but I'm starting to lean towards this unleashed version. So much so, that I went ahead and picked up some bubble lenses. I'm assuming that if I were to paint my helmet using the unleashed color scheme(minus the weathering and blue undersuit), it would be acceptable for a TX ID, or am I wrong about that as well. Essentially I would just be painting the blue/grey areas on the helmet instead of leaving them black, or flat black as in the case with the GG bust. |

Bactareality again it looks like you have researched this pretty good. Now I stress that I would do ALL painting after submitting photos for your TKID. At the time they are not accepting any custom color schemes. We are trying to get a standard of an all black stealth with grey/silver accents on the mouth/tear drops/traps on the back of the helmet, which are optional. Also if you are thinking of the bubble lenses, I personally, lean towards the flat. Just because of vision is better on the flat lenses. But it's your call bro. After rereading your post if you are just painting the areas grey then that shouldn't be a problem. If I am wrong someone else chime in but I don't think i am.

I need to stress that as a Det, "We" determine the accepted standards - it's up to us to define what they are. That being said, we do not model our armor based upon action figures, but you most certainly may as a member. I must add that to eliminate stress, submit your accepted 501st Standard TX to the Legion BEFORE you do anything non-standard (and possibly irreversable). I don't know how many people have complained to me after they did something that may certainly be very cool, but was unacceptable according to the official standards. There's nothing I can do (other than beg official SW artists and writers to make your customization "canon" and hope it's done in three LFL sources) if you don't follow this simple rule. |

As far as using action figures as reference, well, the way I look at it is sorta like reverse engineering. Meaning that if the action figure is an artists representation, ask yourself, what would this have looked like on film, and how would that have translated to what you see on the shelves. As far as the unleashed figure, to me it looks like a stylized comic book version, where things that normally would be black would look blue in the comics(undersuit) just to add contrast, kinda like superman's hair. I was thinking as far as the grey areas, it be safe to say that if these guys appeared on film, it wouldn't be that far fetched to see em with the same grey color tones as the regular TKs. I can also see an evolution of the blackhole suit where early TXs had blue/grey helmet accents, while later versions evolved into a more classy chrome or silver accents. Just a thought. As far as lenses go, I know what to expect as far as visibility, so really it's a matter of aesthetics. I just really like how the hero buckets look. I'm just hoping that the lenses I'm waiting on will fit. I really did'nt think I was going to be able to find bubble lenses that looked accurate and would fit a TE helmet. I hadn't been asking around much, so I'm not sure how difficult it is to find, but for me, it was worth dropping a couple extra bucks to get something I think will fit better. I managed to find a good deal on a tie pilot helmet that supposedly was custom built using an AA/SDS face sculpt, so I'm hoping it'll work. Here's a pic of the tie helmet I picked up for 50 bones. ![]()

Ya know, I've really been looking at the art work for the re-pack and I have to say I really like the look a lot. I can't really tell if it's the lighting, reflective color or the actual color of the armor, but I've been seriously looking into replicating the look of that new finish. I came across a type of paint that is heat sensitive that almost has the same look to it as the art work. Check out the paint here.![]() |

It would be pretty cool to see a black to smoke grey or a black to the blue like the card back. Only problem is the cost of the Chameleon paint and reducer. Its always been pretty pricey. As to the pic of the card back I think is just the reflection of the background IMHO. |

Yeah, there are some parts that look sorta like a gunmetal greay color too. I'd also considered going that route too. Those other unleashed shadow stormies that come with Sidious definitely look like there's some silver or gunmetal color in there. I know that Alsacorp stuff is pretty pricey, but I guess I'm crazy like that. Heck, just getting into this hobby costs enough dough to make people think we're all crazy. I just dropped over 200 bones on some accurate ROTJ style armor trim to make it look more like the card back artwork.
