I just got my armor the other day (woo hoo!!!). Last night I was bored, so I decided to get an early start on my armor. Remembering what everyone was saying about trimming armor, I decided to take my leisure time with trimming some of the excess armor off the chest with my utility blade. It is starting to look promising... although, I am worried that I may have trimmed too much. I need to see someone's armor up close to determine whether I boo-boo'd ( :D ) or not!

Atin's pull....

It appeared to have natural cut lines. So I decided that I would trim down to within about a quarter of an inch from the outside of the line (you know so I wouldn't cut too much). I am probably safe and just getting paranoid because I have never done this before.

With my TIE armor, I didn't have to trim anything. It came trimmed and fit me perfectly.

But thanks for the reference pics, buddy! I was wanting to see the edges up close to see just how close I should be trimming to.

Shadow - Thanks for sharing your project progress. I'm very interested as I'm doing the same thing. In the Dune Sea Garrison there are almost 15 custom mandos in progress. Here's some of our public garrison forum that you'll find interesting and may give you some more ideas for your costume.

ROFL, I had the same issue Bill.

It's working well for me (leaving extra and cutting it down slow...), and I've had some help from lots of reference pictures, and bugging a fellow TX for input...

I am seriously going to go get a diamond cut wheel tonight though. Sliced my darn thumb last night working on a shoulder bell.

I hope to have some pictures after Saturday.

Well, my garrison is having an armor party on Turkey Day weekend. So I think I will hold off any further temptation to work on the armor until I have some other folks who are a bit more up on this stuff that myself.
