Same artwork as the Unleashed figure, but darned nice. I think we should do our own Spec Ops Det card.

I love the art from the Unleashed line. I wish they'd make some posters of the various characters. |

That looks awesome! I agree, why not make our own artwork. But instead of trading card size make it A4 so it can be framed. Maybe even personalise it with your own TX id on the pic. Might investigate this, as I'm on night shift for 2 weeks. If anyone has artwork of stealths on their computer pm me. I might throw something together.

Too bad we couldn't get in on the last 3 series of the 501st trading cards. Maybe series 10 if someone pickes up the job.

I like the idea of starting our own line of trading cards. No reason we have to wait to be included in the existing set. I'd like to be able to contribute to some artwork(if I can ever get some free time) or at least the funding needed to print these. |

I'd agree. The official Legion card list is a pain to get on (and it really should be a lot easier and faster) so I've been printing my own cards on cardstock for years. I'd suggest someone come up with a frame template (front and back) that we can use to print our own cards (or those who can't can take 'em to Kinkos and print out a bunch). All I'd ask is that the design incorporate the Spec Ops Det logo in some way. Per LFL rules, we can't use any of their artwork, but I'd love to see what folks can come up with. We'll put up a vote for the official design by Det members. Kev |

fantastic idea guys - I would be glad to offer a template idea of some sort! I agree the 501st cards are way too hard to get on these days, and making our own is a no-brainer. Plus I can see a set of spec ops cards being a hit (just as the coin will be) with all sorts of 501st collectors! |

Yeah those would be great! I'd love to get some official trading cards, but I always seem to miss out on getting onto the main list. Printing my own style of trading card would be an option. I had actually inquired about that to a couple of my garrison mates.... a buddy of mine told me that it would be expensive to do. Since I am not privy to such things, just how expensive would it be to have trading cards made up at a place like Kinkos.... anybody have a guess? But I suppose it would be cheaper in the long run if you had multiple people placing a huge order to bring the cost of printing down. - Bill |

So after reading this I too thought it would be nice to have my own trading card. So I decided to try something! First in no way am I a graphic desgin artist. I have been playing around with photoshop for a few years and still don't know have the things it can do! The images are different layers from a royalty free company and I bought a few in the last two years to have to play with. So I threw this together. I hope to do a back later tonight.

Well, printing these yourself is not a hard proposition if you can get hold of some heavy card stock. I'll make the printing template available for free by any Spec Ops Det member and I'd like to see a 501st version and a non-member version. Kids love to get anything they can take away and I know these will be a hit. Just remember to make the template with a cut out section (transparency in the layer) so members can put their own pictures in and add their own text in the back. It'd be cool if it would have a link to our web page (501stSpecOps.com) as well. |

Excellent work there shadow. I wonder, are there any discussions in other detachments of doing a card series like this, or will we be the first? I'd agree that the more free stuff like cards we can hand out to kids, the better. If I could afford to, I'd hand out shadow stormtrooper action figures. We've got so many different types of troopers in this detachment though, a card series with pics of all the various types of TX's could really turn out to be something special. This detachment pretty much deserves its own card series because of it's diversity and obscurity. |

To my knowledge, no other det is doing anything like this. I say, go with a generic SW-type foreground and background. Let the members add their name, TX-ID, and bio area on the back (just leave blank areas for it). Pick a standard font that most folks would have or link to a TTF font so peeps can do their own lettering. Put up a sample template for all to follow and it should be a cool deal. I like the idea Shadow put up, but dunno about the background. What I'm thinking is close to what the Legion cards are like, but different enough not to be confused with their run. Let's make it ours - I know we have the talent here. And by allowing folks to print their own, all it costs is cardstock and ink if you have a printer. Worst case scenario, I can probably print them at home for you on my HP color laser printer. If you want Legion-quality cards, you can always shoot your card off to http://www.sportscardonline.com/ and get 200 for $112. Once we get the templates done (foreground layer, background layer, and card back), we can think about it. No matter what, all members have access to the template and can choose how they want to do it. |
