Anybody have a source for a more appropriate brow trim then the black weather striping that comes with the armor kit? Ive been looking at the brow trim on my bucket and finally decided it looks way to much like a Stalin era Cold War Politburo officals eyebrows. From pictures of original helmets it looks to be a rubber "U" channel. |

Ive looked at his and it looks to be a replacement foam piece. Here's what I'm trying to figure out. On the RPF they had a descussion about it but it appears to be to old and is now lost. I dont have a RPF membership so I'm kinda stuck at the moment. His: http://www.flickr.com/photos/20411733@N03/1990844232/ What I'm looking for: http://www.flickr.com/photos/20411733@N03/1990680342/ It was worth a shot, Many Thanks, Bill

I use a rubber trim from PepBoys. They have a stick-on rubber trim section. What I got was "STYLEGUARD Automotive Body Molding"..."Narrow" with the part number S33216 Trapezoid 16' Black. You have to buy 16' of it so you may want to get a few guys together first.

Yeah, that looks like automotive trim. I've seen that stuff at Schuck's (Checker in some States) for not too much money. Like $5 or $6 for a 16-18 inch piece. It would be back in the window trim section. - Bill |

WOW ive really dropped the ball on this. Found out on the FISD a while ago you can get new trim from Seals Direct in the UK. Clickey Linky US 52 for the brow and SWR150 for the helmet base opening. They only sell by the meter. Its around 12 bucks but the shipping kinda hurts at 15 bucks. It will take some work to replace the FX brow trim. Due to the way the FX goes together (3 piece) unlike the original or other two piece helmet kits. Ill post some pics when I get a chance. |

Some pics: Kinda blurry Comparison of the supplied trim on the right and the Seals Driect on the left ![]() Show thickness: SD on the right and the supplied trim on the left ![]() Has the angle Im looking for but still needs tinkering: ![]() "Move along........Move along" ![]() Need to clean up the glue edge. This is seen beacause my faceplate is mounted behind the dome not in the front as the instruction tell you. There was a reason for this. Ill post at a later date when I get everything squared away. |
