I felt to start a new thread as I start on the Shadow Mando costume. I posted a while back that I was working on this idea. Here are some of the pics I had created using some Boba Fett pics and Photoshop.![]() ![]() I have been working on the design process on this costume. I want eo get a feel of where I'm going on this before I dig to deep into. So, over the weekend I did a quick sketch of what I am thinking about doing. ![]() Sorry about the flash glare. I have always liked the Clone Commander look so I thought it might go well with this idea. I didn't want to use the jetpack with this. I want to pull away from the Fetts' and create something a little different. So for a backpack I plan to mod a Snowtrooper pack. Maybe add a few LEDs and a control pad. Still not sure what I'll do with the pack but I know I will use a snowtrooper pack. So, what will this look like in color. I took the pic and color it in Photoshop. Its a bit messy but you get the idea.
 ![]() I will post more as I get this project up and going. I got the helmet but I really can't get started on it until after the holidays.

Custom Mando's are so much fun. I know several folks who have them, and they love it. Plus they are recognizable to the fans as Star Wars characters.

As I begin creating my custom Mandalorian, I wanted to understand more about the "character" of who this would be. The more I know about the story, the better the costume will be. So, the first thing I needed was a name. I came up with Ve'kin Sly. (Different parts of my first and last name
 ) So, I thought I would share my back story and see what you guys thought. It's still a bit rough but overall I think it gives the feeling of what I want to create. I'm just having a little fun with the Star Wars universe we have all grown to love.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Story of Ve’kin Sly After showing great leadership and marksmanship in the beginning battles of the Clone Wars, Ve’kin Sly was granted the rank of Clone Commander. He led his troops in several great victories against the Separatists. He was granted his own battalion of special clones. A group of clones trained in special ops, to enter without a trace and to eliminate a threat before it became a real threat. The battalion was known as the Shadow of Brothers. It was a secret battalion of troops only know to the Chancellor and the Jedi Counsel. Together they would send the battalion into the heart of the Separatists and search for other threats that they did not know existed. As the tragedy of the Clone Wars deepened, the Shadow of Brothers was called upon for high profile mission with Jedi Masters. They severed beside many respected Jedi. Ve’kin Sly was well received by the Jedi he fought beside. His bravery and team work shined as the Republic took back key planets in the fierce battles. One Jedi Commander Sly enjoyed fighting beside was, Lanhea Kebow. Jedi Kebow was one of the most intense female fighters the Jedi had seen. Between her lightsaber and Commander Sly’s marksmanship with a blaster most battle droids never stood a chance. In battle they learned each fighting style and worked well together. After a few battles the Jedi Counsel appointed Lanhea to the Shadow of Brothers battalion. As time went by Commander Sly and Lanhea grew closer. He began to feel something for her that he never felt before. As a clone he was built to take orders and to fight, but something inside was hurting. Was he developing a conscience? Could he really think for himself? He put his feelings aside for a Commander must think about his troops first and himself last. A few months later, during an intense battle, a Super Battle droid came up behind Lanhea. Sly saw the droid and jumped in front of her taking the blast and saving her life. Sly was rushed back to Coruscant where he received the best care. The Jedi were amazed at what the clone had done and help him anyway possible. After a month of recovery he was back by Lanhea's side. The Shadow of Brothers fought many battles. They discovered the location of General Grevious on Utapau and alerted the Jedi Counsel. They felt the war would soon be over, but for Commander Sly the darkest hour of the Clone Wars was still ahead. The Shadow of Brothers was on a remote planet out side of the outer rim. They were fighting the last of the droid army, hoping the war was soon coming to an end. Once again Sly and Lanhea fought side by side. Suddenly, a new command came over the comm. Sly took cover so he could receive the command. It was Darth Sidious ordering Order 66. Commander Sly knew what this command was, but he didn’t like it. He knew he must follow orders, but at what cost? He couldn’t kill Jedi Kebow. He had fallen in love with her. But could he feel love? Could a clone love? Sidious was waiting for a responds, but Sly rejected his command. He ran to Lanhea to find his brothers attacking her. He shot two clones but she was ambushed to fast. Lanhea was hit by a laser blast and fell to the ground. His brothers turned on him and tried to arrest him. He fired, head shot, the trooper fell to the ground. Sly took off as the troops of the Shadow of Brothers began to fire at him. Sly found Lanhea's fighter and escapes the planet and the war. Commander Sly went back to the only home he knew, Kamino. He hid on the planet for a year, studying his history and where he had came from. Sly learned about his “father” Jango Fett and read more about the Mandalorian culture. He created new armor in the image of his “father” but retained the colors of the Shadow of Brothers. Never to forget who he was and where he came from. Ve’kin Sly left Kamino and became a gun for hire. The Empire never knew who this Mandalorian was, but they knew he was trouble. Sly was not on the Rebel side or the Empire, he was the side of revenge. Sly’s main mission was to revenge Lanhea’s death and find a way to easy the pain that was growing inside. Ve’kin Sly is a dangerous man, because he has a broken heart and out for revenge for lost love. |
