I thought it'd be cool to inspire troopers to improve both themselves and our Legion by putting the pride back into everything we do this year, so here's my first idea for the year: Pull out and shine up that armor! Get over the winter blahs by pulling your stored armor out of that bag or box where it may have been sitting and take a quick moment to shine it up, removing some the dust and grime that occurs when you troop. It doesn't take long, and if you have some stubborn scuffs or spots, get a Mr. Clean magic eraser from your local grocery store, wet it and buff away lightly. If you got a set of FX armor, you should have gotten a bottle of plastic polish. If not, no worries - just use a cleaner safe for plastic and gently remove the grime. If you have suggestions/best products to use, please list them or your techniques for all to try out... Kev Spec Ops Det Lead |

I like to do all the polish and repairs that are needed as soon after a troop as I can. That way I can pack my armor away and know that it's ready to go for the next event. I don't have to drag it out the night before and try and clean and polish when there is always other more pressing things that have to be done. I went to the local super center and found some material that's similar to a light blanket and bought several yards of the stuff. I cut it up into various sizes and use it to wrap up all the different pieces before packing them away. That way they don't rub each other during travel. The material was only $1 a yard, so it was a cheap investment that has really paid off. Bill |

i guess form me that entails a new paint job lol! I want to find a good source to do a nice paint job on my custom metal scout, still torn between, all black, desert camo, or urban camo. love the idea though, get that spit polish going and i want to see my face in that armor by the time you're done troops!!!

I second Bills idea on the blanket material. I bought polar fleece at Joanns, and made a custom cover for each piece of my black armor. Its sooo nice. I clean it, wrap it, and its ready for the next troop. I also use the Novus #1 cleaning spray that is anti static and lint repellent so that I dont get fabric fuzz all over my armor when it's wrapped up. |
