No this isnt about silver or chrome buttons. I was looking at the buttons on my abs a while ago and realized thier honking huge. So I replaced them with some smaller black buttons. Easy enough.

Now the question is would the normal TK button set be OK to use? The grey and dark blue or just stick to the black untill somebody draws it or it show up in a reference. It dosent really matter to me just kinda popped into my head. I was just thinking for people who wanted a little more detail or pop to an otherwise all black canvas.

You're right the buttons that come with the FX kit are oversized. They should be approx. 7/16" in diameter and there are several folks who sell them pre-painted on FISD, as well as tutorials on which ones to get if you want to do them yourself.

You can certainly try the gray ones to see how they'd look, but I'd suggest using something other than blue for the final two.

(side note: the final CRL for the TK calls for correct sized ab plate buttons as a "should have").

We haven't gotten that strict here because there is no movie standard costume to go by (all references are EU comics). But it makes sense that they should be to the TK standard, but given the FX kits are a bit larger, I doubt we, as a Det, will press the issue of a minor size difference here, but I do urge folks to try to match the FISD approved size if they can.

I've seen all kinds of different colors (black, blue) on the buttons and we'll have to look into it further to define what colors are authorized in our CRL standard.

You know I did my stock buttons Dark gray with the final three Royal Blue, you can see it on my profile. Lots of people liked it. At the time I had retrieved the button color and configuration from one of the veteran trooper's sites. I changed the blue to Navy blue to match a pauldron and my tube stripes.(Halloween) People like that too. I think charcoal would be a good color and yeah Blue tube stripes stands out like a sore thumb but my Star Wars shop action figure was trimmed in a sort of royal blue meets gray so I did what I could to match him.
I think a charcoal color would look good for the buttons and tube stripes.......sort of like the MR LE Shadow helmet.
This will eventually lead to frown, trapezoid, and tear dimple color questions if it hasn't already, and then I think there's another can o worms. Some like 'em black, some silver, etc.
Oh but the dark gray I used for my frown, TD cannister, and buttons is a darker one than standard Imperial Dark Machine Gray.
Not trying to stir the chili.......just throwing my two cents of garage antics into the pot. See TX7740 profile for some funky colors!

As far as the references I have seen goes, buttons should be black (but I love the way the gray ones look!!!)
