Hey guys, thinking of possibly doing this suit some time in the future, I figure we should start discussion to see what should be done and maybe see if we can get another costume added to the Spec Ops costume list. The only issue is that I can't find an image of the back. With one of those we would be sweet. Any designers on the SWG card game or comic book writers around here? I'm going to play with some ideas too so they'll be in Green fontHere is the pic we have so far; ![]() Ok so going from that; Helmet:- A completely custom job, no two ways about it. Looks like a custom dome, scout visor and snout and TK tubes on the sides. No idea for the back, but it could resemble a TK back of the helmet given the tubes. The back of the helmet could also contain some lights or a recessed area like the back of the scout to indicate the status of the trooper under the armour to fellow troopers given the environment these troopers work in. Neckseal:- Custom as well. Also seems to ride pretty low with some ribs, maybe rubber or something dense at the bottom part? Chestplate:- Anyone else think that resembles a TK? Maybe some rounding of the pec shapes. Backplate:- Given one of the images shows the troopers wearing a large backpack, maybe a flat backplate as per a scout before you put the tank on? Shoulder Bells and Biceps:- Seem similar to TK. A rounded shape cut on the inner base front and back, maybe no central ridge or a widened central ridge? Forearms:- Custom. Maybe a digital display as an environmental readout for the trooper? Handplates:- TK with a segmented thumb piece. Gloves:- TK AB:- Tk with a different front plate? Kidney Plate:- TK? Cod:- Modified TK? No central ridge? Butt:- TK? Thighs:- These look like Tk thighs to me, maybe a custom ammo box, but definately a custom knee plate, and obviously both attach to the thighs unlike the TK where the sniperplate attaches to the shin. Shins:- Modified TK? They seem to have a rounded disc over the inner and outer portion overlying the ankle. Boots:- TK Belt:- Custom. I had the thought of getting a cheap geiger counter or just a ticker to give the suit some operation Accessories:- Now given that there are a few different setups described on the wookiepedia page, hows this, all optional: Backpack:- Custom. Long antennae. Should also have the console part that is also in that picture. Pauldron: Man, I would do this costume just to wear that pauldron. Pointy, and orange. Dual Carbines means dual holsters, otherwise single holster. Dunno how they attach to the belt though. A Royal Guards Force Pike? No thermal dets as such, but maybe if someone did a LFL licenced sketch they might show a concussion grenade or two in place of the thermal det Also, something about this costume screams "Gimme a Handheld Tactical Nuclear Wepon!" with a big yellow radioactive symbol slapped on the side. Also, the armour is described as having a chromed, silver or mirrored finish. It might be safe to say that the visor is also mirrored? What do you all think? I'm a fair way away from doing this (at least a year, maybe two), gotta finish my current TX build first, but maybe someone might start one of these, or at the very least a comic book writer might drop in for inspiration. After all this is a Dark Times era costume....? Too late for TFU2 but maybe TFU 3 if they do another? Or the TV series when that happens? I'd be more than happy to lend a costume for that And even if none of these happen, I'll have a place to start when I can give this project a shot.Cheers, and as before, if someone does turn up an image of the back, could you post it up? Thanks. Tachyon Edited by Tachyon, May 30 2010, 02:06 AM.

I've seen some of the Japanese Garrison guys just mirror-plated some TK suits using a chrome spray (you can find it on the web - it's pricey but gives good results. The C-3PO builders sometimes use it. But you're right - it starts with TK parts, but there are quite a few custom pieces. Looks like the helmet could start with a TK foundation and be built up, and it'd be interesting to see one of these in person. |

Yeah, it's a trooper in my field of interest, so I'd like to think that I'll attempt it as my next primarily custom built costume, but going to need more room at my house and some money to burn on it. The chrome spray sound like a good option, you could probably fiberglass the custom bits then paint it up. A mirror plated TK however isn't a Radtrooper in my books, but their costumes did look pretty awesome regardless. The snout on that helmet extends up a bit further than the vocoder on a TK bucket and it seems to lack TK ears, going a more TB style ear so covering the seam between front and back could be an issue. When I get some play money, I might see if I can get a scrap TK faceplate from a friend and convert that, might get a full helmet out of it. Do you know if HIPS/ABS and Fiberglass go well together? As in could you cut the HIPS/ABS plastic to shape the details, then add in detail and reconstruct the visor space and cheeks stuff with fiberglass/filler? |

Nice. I've thought about this myself, and you seems to be on the same track as I was thought wise. The shins I think are just TK shins. The "disc" I think are just the curve lines, as you can't see a solid disc shape. -iz |
