Pack and Pack Creation; Pack, Ranks and how they work

Ranks are not to difficult to come by, although high ranks are, but all ranks can be hard to obtain depending upon the Alpha and the Pack and if everything is already filled to capacity. Ranks are earned not so easily given away and one might find themselves in a competition of sorts to try and obtain the coveted rank they so desire. However if there is a particular rank you wish to abscond from another well then you'll have to go and engage in battle with whomever is the current contender or holder of that particular rank. Were you to win, the rank then will become yours, however were you to lose you'd only have the shame of losing... unless of course you were taking up paw against the leaders of the pack. Depending on the Alpha and the Pack itself were you to loose against him and/or her you'd be facing whatever is usual for challengers in that particular Pack, which may be more or less lenient and understanding as some other packs might otherwise be.

It is wise to show respect to those wolves higher up in the hierarchy than your own characters are, though sometimes a little defiance might be called for, if its a concurrent thing the ranking of that character might just plummet till they hit the end of the hierarchy ladder. No one can respect someone who cannot respect and shows little regard for others and would no doubt be more of a nuisance than anything else.

There are ten different tasks within the hierarchy and they are the following. The reason we've not given ranks, is because we'd prefer you to use your own whether or not you go with the traditional Greek alphabet for the ranks or something you've made up of your own, the tasks however remain the same.

Leader: The leader can be male or female, although there are often two of them, a mated pair leading the way. Therefore they hold the highest rank of respect as everyone else within the pack follow and are expected to follow them. Although they are a mated pair, the more dominant and intelligent of the two has a slightly higher elevation in rank than the other, but will still listen to whatever their other half suggests. Together they will make all of the important decisions within their pack and their decision is final and must be followed, those who do not may find themselves being lowered in rank or even banished depending upon the severity of their transgressions. They also must periodically throughout each day patrol the borders of their pack and mark their territory so that it remains fresh and others know not to trespass. Although they are the leaders of the pack, they fight at the front lines to protect their own till their very last breath.
Limit: 2 [Typically: One Male, One Female...but not necessarily.]

Second-in-Command This is usually a mated pair as well, but not always. They are usually the Leaders closest friends and allies, but sometimes they are just the strongest of the pack which is why they often lead the Warrior's on any expedition. They're something like a General and the body-guard and confidants of the Leaders. While they do not mark territory, they do patrol the boarders to keep out any possible threat. They are also given the ability to accept members into the pack and hand out tasks, however they cannot make anyone a Head of a particular task, but can make suggestions to the Leaders.
Limit: 2 [One Male, One Female]

Guardian Limit: [One-Two] The Guardian can be either male or female, but they are very strong with strategic minds. In a way they are a bodyguard to the Alphas, but more than that they help guard the boundaries of the pack, though they do not mark the territory.

Peace Keeper Limit: [One-Two] The Peace Keeper is sort of like a therapist for the entire pack as well as a mediator when it comes to sorting out arguments within the pack. However if they are unable to resolve the problem they must seek out the Leader and/or Second-in-Command, especially if the problem has escalated beyond their control.

Warrior Limit: [Two + One Head] The warriors are the elite force of the pack, and from them are chosen the Guardian. Although the whole pack acts together in times of war as warriors, these are the warriors whom are always training, practicing and sparring with one another so that they remain alert and strong. The head warrior is their general.

Hunter Limit: [Four + One Head] Hunters are essential to any pack, although all of the pack may hunt if they so wish, but these are the best hunters of the pack. It is their duty to practice hunting and find new ways in which to bring down prey so that the whole pack may feast. The head can also plan along side the Alpha a whole pack hunt for special events or bonding. The hunters of course, more than anyone know where the best hunting can be found and for what delectable smorgasbords too.

Lorekeeper Limit: [One] The Lorekeeper is usually an elder of the pack, one who knows many tales and may have participated in tales told in the past. From the lorekeeper another emerges who has long delighted in the tales told and can recall all of them and add to it their own.

Scout Limit: [Two + One Head] Scouts are messengers, but more than that they scout out new packs, other territories, hunting and foraging grounds. If water is low they are the main ones who look for it. When on their own territory the scout for anything unusual, to make sure everything is as it should be and always reports back first the the Guardian who then reports to the Alphas and/or Betas.

Pup-sitter Limit: [Two] This one should be self explanatory. They are usually females, but always at least one should be a female, especially if pups are not yet weaned. The pup-sitting female is the most likely to go through a pseudo pregnancy in order to make sure that there is enough milk for the pups within the pack, especially when the mother is off somewhere, but the pups still need to be fed. The pup-sitter also works with the lorekeeper for the pups story time and activities.

Spy: Limit: [One] The spy is more devious and underhanded than a scout. They do not take messages back, and because they are spies are very rarely on pack territory. Often instead of going all the way back to the packlands they will meet with another member of their pack on neutral territory and once the area is clear tell them what they have found out so that they can then report directly back to the leaders if it was not the leader who they met there and then. It's easier for a spy whose rarely in the pack to smell more like a loner and thus possibly at times infiltrate another pack.

Pending Members: These are new members to the pack awaiting a rank and task. There number is limited only by what tasks are left.

Omega Limit: [One] The lowest on the hierarchy and the last to eat. The rest of the pack usually picks on the Omega in one way or another, but at least in the pack there is still the chance to rise in rank. Although sometimes Omega's leave their pack, while others continue in hopes of someday being something more than the scapegoat of the pack.

Pups Limit: [No limit for those born into the pack... however non pack pups limit is three.] Also, please be aware that pups which do not obtain players will perish either from a natural disaster, predation or starvation once they are two months old.

Pack Creation Form & Guide

Periodically throughout the lifetime of Acelle a new pack will be open, which would be created by a member of the site. In order to create a pack however and depending upon how many members would like to see a new pack there might be one, possibly two at a time available for members to try out for (as long as they have the FANGS necessary). When there is a position for a new pack to be created there will be a link placed in the site's main table. The link will lead to an area you'll have to fill out an application at. Depending upon the number of those not in a pack as long as the other packs are filled we will select one or two of the applicants and from there one or two new packs will being to flourish. Whether or not your character is already in a pack is immaterial, but since members of a pack are usually already trusted it should be a little boost in your favor. We are more likely to choose a member whose been around for awhile over someone newer but that doesn't mean they shouldn't be given a chance as we're going to choose the best pack(s) possible as long as the member has been active for the most part throughout their time here. Once we've decided on the best candidates we'll put up a member vote which hopefully will be based on the best sounding pack and not the popularity of the members. From there the process will continue in play as the pack can't just emerge without the beginnings. This means there will need to be a 'Claiming Territory Thread' followed by a 'Patrolling the Boarder Thread'. The Claiming Territory thread should only be joined by challengers, if they so desire. The Patrolling thread should be joined by those who wish to join the pack in its earliest stages.

The form would look something like this.
