SO, I figured, why not beat the versewankers with the excessive in power...Umineko! Tl:dr we play a murder mystery game where it might be magic, might not be, and then challenge all the oplets or just you people to struggle as competing investigators to prove a humanly possible murder process, against witches who are trying to prove a magical possibility. The meta-world where we discuss things in will be administrated by Iael no Sage, either directly or by proxy of servants, using a guesthouse on the canonicity-edges of Iael Memory. Effectively a sitting room where the powerful battle each other with words rather than weapons and the witches can propose counterarguments. You can either add another layer of proxy for RP ~shenanigans~ with some random witch or sorcerer, or just be your usual internet avatar self and troll everybody. The in-story murder island will be a blatant ripoff of Rokkenjima with details changed I will write up if and when we go through with this plan. Summary of colored truthing Umineko-style: Red Truth is #FF0000 red, or optionally this red #ee4a2d (zetaboards default red) if necessary but I would rather not confuse us all with Jenna's speaking. Red truth will be used for statements that are true, insofar as truth is truth, and can be accepted as true without any further evidence or proof. It will be used primarily by the witches to state facts that cannot be argued against and by humans to reiterate what is verified beyond any possibility of doubt. While of necessity for fair play to be true, it can have multiple interpretations which can be attacked by blue truth to force further explanation or advance their own arguments. Normally it will be used to counter arguments with fact, or state mechanics/rules/etc. Blue Truth is #80a0ff blue (ZB default light blue) or this #5a70b3 (ZB default blue) or this #0000FF blue color. It will be used to advance the user's overall theory by representing possibilities that will counter the standing logic of magic the opposing side is using to argue (see notice 1 about why we are running on conceptual logic), but you can attack others' theories with it, and general information-fishing outside of what you are trying to prove via blue truth is not allowed. It is good form to use statements in red truth to counter blue truth, though it can be postponed indefinitely by acceptance of truth until countered, at least until lategame where there are fewer puzzles that are left for the witch side to defend as magical. Blue truth must follow existing red truth statements and be a viable possibility in general according to existing known information, and once proposed and left uncountered is assumed as true until countered by red or gold truth. Purple Declaration is #9300C4 purple (ZB default purple). It is true and is effectively Red Truth for most intents and purposes, unless spoken by the culprit or any other direct-by-their-own-hands-or-tools-or-proxies-would-be-assigned-guilt-in-a-court-of-law-with-evidence murderer, in which case it can be a lie, even before the culprit or murderer in question has committed their murder(s). I'll be flexible with the other rules. Gold Truth is #fe0 golden yellow (ZB default gold). It is effectively Red Truth, but different somehow. It is limited to those who understand the rules. Who the hell knows? For our purposes we will use it with Golden Butterflies, indicating to a character and those observing that the gameboard around them that they are an accomplice, about to die, or the scene might not be strictly factually true at all, or is otherwise stuff being in question. Green Truth is #090 green (ZB default green) or this #00FF00 green. It is explaining truth that can refer to such things as the 4th wall reminders or translations or some other thing. Generally it is just a truth for making things a tad clearer for everyone. - Notice 1: For the sake of allowing the godmodders to exist at all in the rooms of toying, rather than be ruthlessly destroyed by someone objectively stronger seeing as them both being omnipotent would fuck shit up, ofc. Explaining why is hard but suffice to say anime logic and truth-plasticity-overriding is a safe middle ground between sane logical mechanics normal people use and nonstop asspulling and blatant cheating and violation of character sovreignty that godmodders use. Notice 2: Whether or not we use Van Dine's Commandments or Knox's Decalogue is really up to how we write this. Notice 3: The rule of Detective's Authority rubber-stamping observations in red truth and gaining appropriate clarifications as needed is a dicey tactic that resorts to pre-Blue-Truth single-shotting rather than blue truth shotguns. YMMV. Notice 4: Devil's Proof errywhere. Evidence proves, lack thereof does not disprove. Hempel's Raven is what it is, not proving either. Notice 5: Outside of spoken statements, there are no lies in the narration. Edited by nedben, May 6 2016, 07:20 PM.
