The Samsara was discovered by Buddhist colonists during survey missions to establish a faith center in the Asura Cluster. The Samsara observed the colonists out of curiosity, and once it felt prepared, established communication. The entity at this point had not encountered other sentient species, so the concepts of individuality and personal identity were alien concepts, to the point where Samsara did not even have a name to call itself, it simply was. After extended interaction, the entity decided that it would call itself Samsara, as it embodied many cycles and forms. At the time, Samsara was classified as a sentient near human species, academically interesting but otherwise something that was becoming unremarkable at this point in humanity's first expansion era.

Samsara continued to interact with the colonists in a mutually beneficial dialogue, strained only by the fact that Samsara would not show the colonists the others, as it did not understand what they meant by "others". This pattern continued until one day "Samsara" and several colonists were killed by members of a militant atheist extremist group in a terror attack.
