Not sure if this belongs in the Culture Ministry, but, before it was canned, Lady Nyx -did- send me a PM inviting me to enter the writing contest...in any case, would people here like to read Atonement, the story I am writing (-still- writing...I started in 2007, haha), set in Hampshire, and detailing the final defeat of Lord Alphanesia? I am finally back to writing it again, and will shortly be posting another chapter, so, I could release chapters here over the next few days if people here would like. :) It's already up in Hampshire and Europeia and TNI and a few other places (granted, the threads are buried under several years), but if you're interested, don't go peeking! I'll post all here. :P

If a few people would like me to post it I will, but, is here the right place, or somewhere else? :)

I'm not sure what career could possibly exist in the undying lands, but I'm pursuing one... apparently. :P

Chief ring-forger seems like just about the only job in demand over there :P

Sure, I could do that. Ring-forging it is.

The Rings were not forged in Valinor; with the exception of the One Ring forged in Orodruin by Sauron, the rest were made by Celebrimbor and his people in Eregion, that is by Khazad-Dum.

But most of the forgers ended up in Valinor. Nobody still in Middle-Earth can forge rings. :P

Rings of Power, maybe not. I imagine Middle-Earth still had silver and goldsmiths. :P

Also, they didn't get to Valinor. Many of them were killed when Celebrimbor defied Sauron at his door.

I haven't read the Silmarillion, and I don't recall that information being in Lord of the Rings, so I'll take your word for it. :)

@ Anumia: The end of that last sentence is a massive let down. You expect it to be "defied Sauron on the Fields of Doom" or something :P

Quite. Well, Sauron came in range to Eregion once more, and demanded Celebrimbor hand over the Rings, and he defied him, and was slain.

I think it was in Unfinished Tales actually, but I -sincerely- recommend that you read The Silmarillion. The greatest book I have ever read.
