- [li]Space ALC
THE best online J>E/E>J dictionary on the internet. It has a lot of slang/sayings/word phrases that can't be found in other dictionaries. *NOTE: It is a user-generated dictionary (i.e. Wikipedia), so some entries might not be correct. Check with other dictionaries if you're uncertain of it's validity.
- Jim Breen's WWWJDIC
The second best J>E/E>J dictionary on the net. Has translations for some very complicated and rarely used Kanjis. Also great for places and names.
- Zokugo Slang Dictionary
Very useful when working with manga as they use a lot of slang, that can't be found in ordinary dictionaries.[/li]
- Capture2Text
An excellent way to capture a piece of image of the Kanji that does not have a romaji accompanied with it and copy it onto the clipboard.
- SLJFAQ
Another excellent tool where you can draw the Kanji with your mouse and find its meaning.[/li]

Works offline too. Simple to use and has an extensive dictionary that can be separated iin categories, depending on what kind of translation you need.
- JWPce Offline Dictionary
A free Japanese Word Processor that you can download and use on your computer without the internet. A bit old style (last revision was made in 2005), but still very useful.
- WaKan Project Offline Dictionary
Another great offline dictionary, useful for both Japanese and Chinese learners. It features a character dictionary, a word dictionary, a text editor, a vocabulary management utility, many printing options (character flashcards, vocabulary lists, text including furigana), and a text translation tool.
- Tatoeba
Multilingual example sentence search engine.

- [li]Nciku
THE best site for finding translations and learning new characters. Very useful when you don't know the Kanji, and here you can write it with your mouse.
- Youdao Dictionary
Provides results generated by web search as well as the formal entry from The New Chinese-English Dictionary《新汉英大辞典》. Generates a large number of example sentences (in both languages).
- iCIBA
English results tend to be identical to Youdao, but fewer sample sentences are generated. One advantage to iCIBA is the online audio service that demonstrates pronunciation for the entire word or phrase, not breaking it up character-by-character like most online services do (which is not the way people speak in real life).
- Baidu Dictionary
Very clean interface for simple, straight-forward answers, much like a traditional printed dictionary. No example sentences or search-generated content is provided.
- Yellow Bridge
Very simple online word search. Good for drawing Kanji characters too and finding their meaning.
- MDBG Dictionary
Another excellent online dictionary with both word and text search, as well as Kanji look-up.
- Lingoes Software
Lingoes is an easy and intuitive dictionary and text translation software. It offers lookup dictionaries, full text translation, capture word on screen, translate selected text and pronunciation of words in over 80 languages.
***This list is created by me and was copied off my other group's forum, which has additional lists for Korean and Vietnamese translators.
