Should I get a PS3?

I'm wondering a few things first of all:

1. Does it have playback compatibility with older PlayStation games?
2. How cheap is it?
3. What are some good PS3 exclusive games?

I also want to know if you think it is worth buying, I can definitely get $250 to $300 easily if it is worth it.

Only the 20gb and 60gb models were backwards compatible with PS1 games. All other models are compatible with PS2 games.
It has uncharted, little big planet, killzone, and more that I can't remember.

I bet those are cheaper than the newer models.

Well in some cases yes, as most are used. However, the used models have most likely been in use for a long time, and are closer to failure. You can get them from people who claim that they never came out of the box, but these cost much more than the newer models on average.

Where would I get PS1 games anyways? Gamestop selling original Xbox games if I remember correctly.

There should be some local game stores in your area that sell older games. If you can't find any ebay or amazon should work

There probably is no such location. On average, how long would one of those used PS3s last?

There's no set-in-stone date for how long it would last, but I would expect anything from a few months to a year or two
You know, I think the 60gb and 20gb had backwards compatibility for the PS2, while all other models only had PS1. Sorry for the slip-up.

Sorry for the late post. I've got a much longer list of why you should get a PS3 if you want to see it...

But yes, 60 and 20 gig models are fully backwards compatible with all PS2 and PS1 games. Early 80 gig models are partially backwards compatible with PS2 games, and all systems are backwards compatible with PS1 games.

All the systems are reliable and will last a long time. I have both a 60 and 80 gig one, and they've both lasted me a few good years and show no signs of stopping.

I'll probably get an used 60 GB one at Gamestop, unless you think the 20 GB would be enough.

20 is not enough. Neither is 60. Luckily the PS3 uses a standard HDD, so you can get a 500 gig one for only $50 or less.

Edit - HDD not SDD herr derr.

Edit again - I've also heard from some sources that the 20 GB one isn't compatible with all PS2 games. Not sure whether or not this is true. I say just go with the 60.

How far would 60 get me?
A few downloaded games and maybe 15 games install data/DLC/save data.

Would there be any way to transfer the HDD data? I think 60 GB would make a good start.
