The thirty and something years old psychiatrist Dr. Samantha Goodman has an incurable brain tumor that has just started to grow. Felling totally stressed, she decides to spend the weekend in her cottage with her husband, the writer David Goodman, and her sister Melody. She unexpectedly arrives in the cabin and finds a bottle of champagne in the refrigerator. Later, a young man, Adrian, asks for help due to the cold weather and once in the house, he shows a gun and brings his partner, the violent sexual offender and Samantha's former patient Harlan Pyne. Along the night, Harlan forces the family to participate in twisted games, where truths are disclosed.

Name sounds familiar but the plot sounds really good. I have to keep an eye out for this or just remember to find it online.

This is one of the most physically exhausting movies I've seen all damn year.

Hurrah for two gay villains, betrayals galore, fucked up mind games, a twist that hit like a cement block to the face (or an axe to the back), a great main location, music that reminded me of "that video footage scene" in Annihilation, and AMAZING performances from all five leads.

And that scene with the pliers...holy hell. Remember how people reacted during Gordon's self mutilation at the end of the first Saw film? That's how I reacted to that scene. I managed to not gasp or make any noise but it did manage to squeeze a "what the FUCK" from me.

I needed a cigarette after this one. Jesus!
