![]() Loon is a 2014 American slasher film, written, directed and produced by Brandon Tobatto. The film follows a brother and sister on their journey to uncover the mystery of an old abandoned carnival attraction and the maniac that supposedly thrives within. Loon will represent a return to form for the slasher industry, harkening back to the days of raw, reallistically portrayed terror and violence, such as the grittiness of the original Texas Chain Saw Massacre and other 70's horror gems. The face of our killer paves the way for a new era of slasher; the era of LOON. |

I've been following this. The trailer was pretty awesome and production was amazing from what I heard. I'm also gonna invite the director. Here's the trailer: |

Weird how the video doesn't have sound when I play it from your post. But when I watch it from youtube, i hear it perfectly. I liked the trailer too, it does feel very gritty and I like that. |

Weird. May want to talk to John about that glitch. ![]() And yeah, this does look pretty cool. Gritty and very grindhouse-ish. |

Watched this earlier, and I have absolutely no idea why they even thought they could compare this to Texas Chainsaw Massacre? I also didn't see anything gritty about it at all. It just basically reminded me of a bunch of 15 year olds who got together and tried to make a movie. It wasn't all bad, but I cant say I'd recommend it to anyone. |

Do illiterate people get the full effect of alphabet soup? Some people are like slinkies: not good for anything, but you can't help but laugh when one falls down the stairs. My review blog: http://donshorrormovieblog.blogspot.com/ | |

^Don't expect much. They really did try though, and you can tell. So I appreciate it a bit for that. Plus I think I read it was made for 700$? I've seen worse made for way more. |

Yeah this...really wasn't anything gritty/grindhousey/kickass/shocking/intense/scary/etc. At all. It was mostly just a basic, somewhat entertaining slasher flick. Nothing more than that. Some of the dialogue actually seemed out of synch which is a no-no in my world. The opening scene was okay and I liked the main location even though it looked more like someone just threw garbage and old trinkets everywhere as opposed to looking like an abandoned haunted house attraction or something. The mask was pretty much identical to Michael Myers' mask that he wore as a child in Halloween (2007). The opening credits were okay. If this really did have a budget of just $700 then paint me impressed, I guess. The main group annoyed the hell out of me and reminded me more of a bunch of stupid 14 year olds who think they're cool for stealing their parents' cigarettes than college students. They also had zero chemistry. The main guy was really cute though. And it was nice having a character named Mrs. Kettlewell. What was with the makers having her voice sped up and squeaky when she was on the phone? Ew. The death order was satisfying but predictable and the kills were mostly stale and repetitive. Some of the 'squishy' sound effects were just bad. The brother and sister both sounded monotone a lot of the time. I liked the "we didn't find any boy" (Friday The 13th!!) bit. As soon as Mrs. Kettlewell gave that backstory, I knew for sure that Spoiler: click to toggle Jeremy being shirtless was the highlight of the otherwise so-so ending.2-3/10 quality, 5/10 entertainment. |
