Horror Quote Of The Moment

Welcome to Under The Morgue.

We have sections for each decade of film, from the 1910s onward, as well as sections for 10+ major franchises, close to 50 'smaller' franchises (containing five entries or less), creative writing, independent filmmaking, photography, music, Non-Horror films and TV shows, forum games, and boredom busters, and to top it all off there's an IM shoutbox at the bottom of the page for random chat. From the tame and 'kid sister friendly' to the psychological and mindbending to cheesy splatter flicks to hardcore torture-oriented horror, there's something here for everyone, so why not dive in?

That poster's a trip. And from the trailer (which I spied on YouTube) it might run in the vein of Creepshow or The Theatre Bizzare, where it's a horror movie/sketch show of sorts.

That my friend Kitty is Eliza Swenson. I have the honor of being a FB friend of hers and Leigh Scott too.

Anyhow, yeah it is sort of like Creepshow. In fact, Penny watches two films while the third if you pay attention is the film. You'll understand what I mean when you spot the credits.

One of my favorite horror movies of all-time. Beautifully filmed and such an enjoyable ride. Penny was awesome and I loved all the films. A nice gory surprise that I can say I'm glad to have in my DVD collection.

And no Michele, this is not related to Rocky Horror.

Robby and I watched this about a week ago and I enjoyed it for the most part. The framing story wasn't anything too special but I loved the weird style and how it didn't take itself too seriously. The guys that Penny was 'dating' were pretty interesting. I was hoping a third one would show up but oh well, two is enough. The way it all connected to one of the featured segments was pretty nice too.

Slash In A Box was decent but was a little too short, especially compared to the other two featured segments (which were both 35+ minutes, I'm pretty sure). It's probably my least favorite since it was overly simple, had no real twist, and ended too abruptly. Good payoff though, and the guy was really cute.

The Morning After was GREAT. Very stylish, perfectly paced, and full of weirdness without feeling like it was trying too hard to be 'out there.' I loved how old fashioned the car scenes were, the costumes, and the overall look of it. The story wasn't anything unique and almost felt like a less bloody lesbian version of the movie Afflicted but it was still great. The performances were good and I liked the two female leads.

The Slaughter House really pissed me off for the first fifteen minutes or so because it was an almost scene-for-scene ripoff of House Of 1,000 Corpses - it even featured characters modeled after Rufus, Baby, Mother, and Tiny. (un) AND it even had Sid Haig working at a gas station (!), a dinner scene, and a really dull performance by the Baby-wannabe. It was so similar to HO1C that I can't help but figure that it was copying it on purpose. Then the twist happened, the shit hit the fan and it became flat out AWESOME! (lol) The bodycount was really high, the deaths were okay for the most part, the villains were deliciously sick and crazy, and there was even a little bit of (mostly offscreen) chainsaw action! This ended up being a really great segment. I just wish they hadn't blatantly ripped off HO1C. After all, there are other ways to play with the audience's expectations without directly copying something else.
