The film looks at the effects of living amongst infected individuals who, without their daily dose of protein, would become bloodthirsty numbskulls. It’s a refreshing take on the zombie genre, one that’s much more about emotional bummers and suspenseful twists rather than gore to the wall.

The film is set in present day, but in an alternate reality where a zombie virus struck civilization back in the 1980s. The title refers to people who were struck by the pandemic that were saved by science before they started biting throats off. Now decades later, there are rumors that the government regulated supply of the protein doses are dwindling, and an honest to goodness cure is nowhere in sight.

Not sure about this. I like the storyline and all but tbh I'm really sick of watered down, PG-13 zombie DRAMAS and chances are this will be like that (and this is going by the article you read to me over the phone as well). "Romantic thriller?!" Uhm wut.

And the posters look like some Twilight TV show posters or something.
I still might see this IF its a Horror film (after all, we don't get that many gnarly zombie movies now) but if its some PG-13 zombie drama/thriller/romance then no thanks. (lol)

The plot's pretty decent though. The parallels between this whole thing and the AIDs epidemic = not exactly subtle.

Birdemic is the only film in the "Romantic thriller" genre. If that's the marketing key for this movie then the studio probably wants to embarrass themselves.

That's not how the studio is marketing this thats what Bloody Disgusting said..

Its supposed to have gore and be nasty too. So I doubt it's PG 13. At least watch the trailer before you guys just give up on the movie. The reviews have been amazing.

Oh, if it has gore, grit and it's nasty I'll see it. I just don't want a glossy "The Host" type zombie flick with a small bit of bloodshed. :P

Well aren't zombie films supposed to be bloody? It doesn't need to have gallons of blood but it got to the point in World War Z (for example) where it was ridiculous that zombies didn't have blood and flesh around their lips.

I just don't want a glossy, bloodless zombie horror. (cry)

Well I'm not much of a zombie fan. But if its character driven with twists and suspense then ill see it. But I want to see a trailer first.

I'm all for good characters, twists, and suspense but imo, bloodless zombie films are the equivalent of bloodless slasher films and shit like The Roomate.

Well for the last 35 years or so gore has been a HUGE factor in zombie films (at least until the subgenre randomly got watered down in the 2010s), so...

Would you like a gore-free Friday The 13th? No? Didn't think so.

Exactly. Zombie films NEED gore. That's the biggest problem I had with World War Z.

Lack of gore worked for Warm Bodies which marketed itself as a romantic comedy. But then again look at Shaun Of The Dead, which was even funnier, had romantic elements and still had a good bit of blood and guts. Lack of gore within a subgenre that has been full of it is just laziness imo, plain and simple.

For a comedy it works. But a serious zombie thriller? We're not asking for Dead Alive level but if it's bloodless I'ma die inside.
