Horror Quote Of The Moment

Welcome to Under The Morgue.

We have sections for each decade of film, from the 1910s onward, as well as sections for 10+ major franchises, close to 50 'smaller' franchises (containing five entries or less), creative writing, independent filmmaking, photography, music, Non-Horror films and TV shows, forum games, and boredom busters, and to top it all off there's an IM shoutbox at the bottom of the page for random chat. From the tame and 'kid sister friendly' to the psychological and mindbending to cheesy splatter flicks to hardcore torture-oriented horror, there's something here for everyone, so why not dive in?

The film looks at the effects of living amongst infected individuals who, without their daily dose of protein, would become bloodthirsty numbskulls. It’s a refreshing take on the zombie genre, one that’s much more about emotional bummers and suspenseful twists rather than gore to the wall.

The film is set in present day, but in an alternate reality where a zombie virus struck civilization back in the 1980s. The title refers to people who were struck by the pandemic that were saved by science before they started biting throats off. Now decades later, there are rumors that the government regulated supply of the protein doses are dwindling, and an honest to goodness cure is nowhere in sight.

I'm still (wary) about the random resemblance to AIDs (1980s and all!)

Watched this yesterday with Robby. I liked it a lot more than I figured I would, but it's still not a great film by any means. They were a little too 'on-the-nose' with how the zombie disease resembled HIV/AIDs (keeping it in check by dosing up everyday, religious groups and anti-infected people killing those with the disease and protesting, shortage of medication, how it takes its toll on the body, the stigma associated with it and how many see those with the illness as 'dead men walking' - no pun intended) but the story was handled well for the most part and it had a few really depressing moments. The characters are what really saved this one for me though, both of the leads as well as a couple of the secondary characters were pretty fleshed out, likeable, and realistic. It definitely hurt a bit seeing the main girl's husband going through what he went through here, as well as her attempts to save him. I totally loved her friend who she got the free meds from, and she was hot as hell, so that only added to her, haha.
As for gore, there were a few juicy bits but this was more of a Drama than a Horror film so don't go into it expecting a bloodbath. In its 98 minute runtime, there's only a small handful of 'danger scenes', fewer kills, and so on. There was one scene in the second act that was a bit shocking because of how harsh it was, mainly because I didn't see it coming. It may even be a good thing that we didn't see that massacre take place since it probably would've upset some people because of who it happened to. The aftermath though...ack! D:

So yeah, I recommend this for the story and characters, but as a grisly horror flick, it failed to deliver which is a shame since well...it could've EASILY balanced the Horror elements with the 'Human elements' to make a delicious little movie. Not sure what I can rate it on the entertainment scale since I can't say I had fun watching it, but qualitywise its probably a 7.5/10.

This pretty much sums it up for me. I liked it, but don't expect a fast paced zombie bloodbath or anything.
