Horror Quote Of The Moment

Welcome to Under The Morgue.

We have sections for each decade of film, from the 1910s onward, as well as sections for 10+ major franchises, close to 50 'smaller' franchises (containing five entries or less), creative writing, independent filmmaking, photography, music, Non-Horror films and TV shows, forum games, and boredom busters, and to top it all off there's an IM shoutbox at the bottom of the page for random chat. From the tame and 'kid sister friendly' to the psychological and mindbending to cheesy splatter flicks to hardcore torture-oriented horror, there's something here for everyone, so why not dive in?

No but a couple of my friends did. They all said it sucked but they were scared so *shrugs*.

Haven't been scared in a movie, this movie probably won't succeed.

It wouldn't be the opening weekend, though. That's only including Friday. It isn't doing well, but the weekend box office could be a bit better than that.

Well quite a few articles are saying it got off to a 'very slow start' (wary) Many, many times when a movie has made under $10,000,000 opening weekend (pretty much every horror this year as well as toward the end of last year) they only ended their run with $30,000,000 or less.

It's definitely a terrible start, and the opening weekend could actually be lower than $8 million. I was just confused because the actual opening weekend numbers wouldn't have been calculated yet.

Worldwide: $21,796,910

Yay! Lol. Hopefully it reaches $30,000,000 but I kind of doubt it will. I saw it tonight and really liked it, aside from the over the top ending. I'll post my review tomorrow.

Like I said, this was actually pretty decent. Best Horror film of the year? No. Best PARANORMAL Horror film to hit theaters this year? Yes. It was surprisingly violent at times, which is what sets it apart from most of the others we've gotten so far in 2014 (aside from Devil's Due and a couple parts of PA: The Marked Ones and Oculus, and one scene of The Quiet Ones). We get crucified animals, gunshots, a couple of explosions, children being killed or severely injured (onscreen, at that), a really viscious stabbing/beating, fucked up limbs, flesheating (!), a gnarly leap (you'll see), and some more 'goodies.'
This also had a pretty creepy atmosphere, one of the best musical scores I've heard this year, and a *mostly* likeable lead who was also pretty attractive (and the same goes for his partner, but his wife can fuck off....whining because you're a housewife and your husband works long hours as a cop, seriously?). I liked that it included Iraq in this, and the stuff at the zoo and in the stairwell was also pretty awesome. For the most part, it was well paced and never really dragged like a lot of films like this do, which is also surprising since it was 1 hour 58 minutes long. I figured it'd be mostly boring, with two good bookend sequences at the beginning and end. Thankfully, I was wrong. The performances here were slightly above average with a few standouts (the two male leads and those who were possessed were especially good).

However, the ending brought it down BIGTIME. While it was better than some similar scenes we've gotten these last couple of years, it didn't fit all that well with the rest of the film, was overly long and over-the-top and while it was pretty violent, it was a bit weak at the same time and had random comedic elements thrown in that didn't sit well with me.

Still not a bad film AT ALL and definitely worth seeing at some point, though I don't blame you if you'd rather not see it on the big screen. I just hope you guys give it a chance SOMEWHERE at least. :)

7/10 quality (would've been an 8 if not for the last 20 minutes). 7.5/10 entertainment.
