While this movie certainly had it's plot holes and some unexplainable or at least poorly explained events, I found this film pretty entertaining. Especially amongst the sea of terrible, terrible, clichéd horror films coming out nowadays. While it's about impossible to be original anymore I enjoyed the idea of taking something as innocuous as the Tooth Fairy and using it the way they did was pretty clever. I'm typically turned off when a film is completely focuses on or uses too much "disturbing" imagery, especially when they use it instead of developing a story and I feel this one used just enough to keep it interesting and that it looked good. Oh, kudos for using a lot of "real" special effects as opposed to CGI. Oh, and a clever plot twist... can't forget about that. All in all, I was surprised with something this recent I just came across on Netflix because I have seen a LOT of shitty horror movies lately. |

I do agree with you completely, this movie really could have been something more than what it is but compared to most horror movies made recently, this movie's a "godsend" and I use this term VERY LOOSELY. Ah Netflix, you giveth and you taketh away (bad decisions). |

I'm so glad somebody responded. That's why I watched it, it was on Netflix and I was like, "Why not?" Not that I give much credit to IMDB ratings, because I don't, but if you understand what they probably really mean... they can be a useful guideline and can save you some time. Not to mention horror is the most inconsistent genre that I'm familiar with and tends to really be subject to over and underrating. Anyway, I expected very little and when I was finished I was like, "Hot damn. That was pretty good. Hell, it's one of the best recent horror films I've seen recently, period." What really sounds like a corny premise, they made clever. It was misleading as in you didn't really see the complete picture, which is great. There were a few things that weren't explained well enough or were just out of place... not the malaria story itself, but the skeeters and connection to the antagonist in the time of the film's setting. The "Tooth Fairy" (I what she's really called cause I think that might be spoiler-esque) looked pretty fucking creepy and they used mostly tangible special effects for the gore and used the CGI well to add in what they couldn't do. On top of it all, it was a horror film and the ending didn't blow it. It was even good. Yay for this movie. From what I read on the forums at IMDB people either thought it was really good and underrated or that it was just terrible. |

It was on Netflix and I was like, "Why not?" <---story of my life. IMDb users can be very fickle, if I see a movie on Netflix that seems interesting I usually IMDb it and use user reviews and the message board as a guide to see if the movie is worth a shot. Then again, sometimes you just gotta wing it with a "ya know what, f*ck it" and dive right in. |

I liked this one! And yes, "It was on Netflix and I was like, 'Why not'?" is the story of my life as well, haha. I thought the clever plot twist was really disturbing and as bad as it sounds, Spoiler: click to toggle I gave it an 8/10 on IMDB I think. Generally I also look at the IMDB ratings but if it looks like a B movie, I don't give them much weight. I'm actually pretty easy to please with horror, but making that initial dive in usually takes me a while of trying to decide, hehe. I'm not one to turn a movie unless it's downright awful so I don't want to waste an hour and a half of my life. |

Your reviews made me interested. I assumed it was going to be bad because of the "haunting" has been overdone. |

While anybody who takes IMDB ratings too seriously obviously isn't the sharpest tack in the box, I do tend to use them as a basic gauge sometimes. That's the actual reason I joined this site, so I could get to know some people and then I'd know what kind of opinions they would be giving. I believe it has quite a low rating on IMDB, sub 5. Anyway, on the boards it was one or the other. People writing reviews similar to the ones we have and "OMG it was fucking awful." |

I never use imdb ratings because there was some movies that I really enjoyed that they rated low. So I just watch a movie if I'm interested in the plot and/or if a lot of people here seemed to like it. |

It's way better to have opinions you either trust or even just expect... that way you know how to pick your films. I love this place. |

I know this'll sound weird, but I never knowingly developed a fascination for tooth fairies when I grew up. |

I rewatched this and I'm still convinced it's a very solid horror flick. Now I just gotta get a couple here that have Netflix to watch it and weigh in on it. |

I think what I enjoyed the most about it was the backstory about the woman later on in the story. About why it happened to her and what her husband did to her. It also kinda makes you want to cheer the guy on too for why he did it in the end. That's the twist. |

Watched this on Netflix today while my little man took a nap. That way I could fully concentrate on it. I liked the originality of this tooth fairy concept. The back story is what made this movie so effectively creepy and the twist so ironically devastating. I think the addition of the history of mental illness in the protaganist's family added to the paranoia and made you think/create doubt regarding whether these events were really happening or not. Kept you guessing till the end. Yes, there were major plot holes. How are people explaining all these teeth and bodies and NO ONE has been interrogated or arrested? Haha. But the dark atmosphere, back story, and twist ending more than made up for that. |
