Set in a farming town in Kansas, Dark Places follows Libby Day (Charlize Theron), the only surviving witness of a horrific massacre that took her mother and sisters. Believing the slaughter to be the work of a Satanic cult, Libby testifies in court against her own brother. 25 years after the murder, she remains haunted by the gruesome violence of her past when she meets a group of amateur investigators who call themselves "The Kill Club". Looking to satisfy their morbid curiosity, the group begins their own inquiry about the case, believing Libby's brother innocent. In order to help them, Libby must unearth painful memories of the event and learn that her past may not be what it seems.

Charlize Theron as Libby Day

This sounds awesome as hell O_O I love Charlize, Nicholas, Drea, and Chloe too so that's a HUGE plus. I'll definitely be checking this out since not only does this sound good but it has a couple favorite actresses of mine (Charlize and Drea<3).

I love the book this is based on. I am really glad that there are so many people in the cast that I really like. I wasn't imagining Charlize Theron as I was reading it, but she's perfect for the part.

Charlize doesn't look the part, but she does have that emotional thing going on that is great for the part. Chloe Moretz as Diondre, pretty cool.
I liked the book, but the ending was not that good.
But Im very curious how they translated the book into the film.

She's usually pretty willing to change her appearance to better fit a role. I think it would depend what they decide to do.

I would have liked to see more of a make-under than putting a baseball cap on her and cutting her hair. Still excited about this, though.

I liked the cast a lot, but I only thought this was alright. The directing and writing didn't really do anything to translate the story from the book into a movie. The film completely keeps the book's structure, which doesn't work in a film. The movie also very rarely seems as dark as the novel. There's moments here and there, but the atmosphere just isn't as effective. The flashbacks are the stronger part of the film. In the parts with adult Libby, they tried to fit everything into the movie, which made it seem like it took all of 15 minutes to solve the mystery without counting the travel time. Someone that hasn't read the novel and wouldn't know how the story was going to end might like it better.
