Horror Quote Of The Moment

Welcome to Under The Morgue.

We have sections for each decade of film, from the 1910s onward, as well as sections for 10+ major franchises, close to 50 'smaller' franchises (containing five entries or less), creative writing, independent filmmaking, photography, music, Non-Horror films and TV shows, forum games, and boredom busters, and to top it all off there's an IM shoutbox at the bottom of the page for random chat. From the tame and 'kid sister friendly' to the psychological and mindbending to cheesy splatter flicks to hardcore torture-oriented horror, there's something here for everyone, so why not dive in?

A documentary exploring genre based monster art takes an odd turn when the filmmakers are contacted by a man who claims he can prove that monsters are indeed real.

That's a really cool idea. I'm interested in seeing this.

Can anyone tell what those brownish-gray things are above the title? I tried fiddling with my screen's brightness, but I still couldn't tell.

I really loved this. It's a light and funny mockumentary, which isn't necessarily what I was expecting. The comparisons to Tusk that I've seen do make a certain amount of sense. It's a strange little movie that Adam Green got to make mostly because he's Adam Green.

All these found footage movies were making me forget how much I actually really like mockumentaries. There were several moments that had me laughing out loud. Ray Wise is totally perfect in this kind of film. He's much more restrained than he normally is, but he still covers the full spectrum of Ray Wise being crazy. Most of the funniest bits are him saying something bizarre with one of the best deadpan deliveries I've seen.

The monsters and monster drawings look amazing.

The main issue the movie has is that Adam Green isn't very good at writing for himself. He's more charismatic than other horror directors that have attempted this kind of thing, but he really should have written himself to be more likable.

The movie doesn't really head into horror territory until near the end, but I thought that it was suitably creepy when the time finally came.

So I take it that Wes Craven (in New Nightmare) Adam is not? (lol)

Glad you liked this<3. I definitely want to see it too. Robby's fond of mockumentaries (he really liked Lake Mungo and a few others we've watched) so I'll probably just wait until I can watch it with him.

He's the movie's main character and in every scene, but Adam has a pretty limited range. He's good at happy, amused, and mildly concerned. He seems to recognize that he isn't that good at acting frightened, so he avoids that. A really important scene requires you to believe that he's annoyed, even though it doesn't make all that much sense for his character to be mad, and it doesn't work. He's good at the humor stuff, though.

It's not as funny as those movies, but there's a definite Christopher Guest influence.
