“FF3D tells the story of a film crew who travel to a remote cabin in the woods to shoot a 3D found footage horror film, but get more than they bargained for when the evil entity they created for their film starts showing up in their behind-the-scenes footage.” Directed by Steven DeGennaro, the meta-horror begins shooting in Gonzales, TX, in late May. |

Movie has been in production for so long that it's premise is already outdated. Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension is the first 3D found footage film. |

At least one reviewer that goes needs to pay attention to how many people leave early or get sick. I am really curious, and I will be very disappointed if no one does. |

I was just about to say that. They already tried this once, and it was as ridiculous as it sounded. That said, apparently, this is gonna be a parody/deconstruction of found footage films -- specifically, a mockumentary about a bunch of guys shooting a 3D found footage horror movie, only to realize that their location is an actual haunted house. Here's the poster... ![]() ...and here's the trailer. Edited by Kevin R., Aug 12 2016, 11:42 PM.

A theater near me is actually showing this on November 4th, one week from today, with the makers of the film in attendance for the intro and a Q&A afterwards. You better believe I'm going. |

I'm scared to watch the trailer. I'm a little paranoid that it will kill me. |

So I went to the premiere last night, and honestly? This movie was kind of amazing. It helped that it was a great experience, too; we had a really good short film playing beforehand (The Babysitter Murders), and afterwards, the Q&A with the director was also interesting. The movie itself reminded me of Scream most of all, not just in it being a meta parody of found footage films that basically takes the piss out of every cliche these movies have, but also in how the characters were actually interesting rather than the one-note assholes we normally get in these sorts of films. These were people who I was either rooting for, or loved to hate. Most of it played out more like a mockumentary about a troubled film production than a horror movie, with only a few spooky occurrences during the first hour or so; while the trailer spoiled a lot, the shift into full horror mode still hit like a ton of bricks, and yet it worked. It could've gone a bit further with some of its ideas, but otherwise, this is definitely worth your attention. My full review is here. |

SteelersFan watched this and told me that they barely bothered with the whole 3D thing, so I gave it a watch. I didn't like it at all. The parts that were intended to be scary were okay. The satire didn't work for me at all. Maybe it would have been better if it came out a few years ago, but it didn't have anything to say that hasn't already been said tons of times at this point. I also think this is a movie that has to be made by someone that likes found footage because they actually have to make a good found footage movie. This is just kind of mediocre, and it doesn't seem like they're having too much fun with the filmmaking part of the parody. |
