This shit’s gonna go viral.

ScreenDaily was the first to report on V/H/S Viral, which will complete our V/H/S trilogy.

We’re excited to reveal that the latest installment of the franchise features segments directed by Marcel Sarmiento (Deadgirl, the incredible The ABCs of Death segment “D Is for Dogfight”) ), Nacho Vigalondo (Timecrimes, Extraterrestrial), Gregg Bishop (The Other Side, Dance of the Dead), Todd Lincoln (The Apparition), Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead (Resolution, Spring).

“V/H/S Viral focuses on fame-obsessed teens who unwittingly become stars of the next internet sensation.“

Justin Welborn and Emmy Argo are among the cast.

Marcel Sarmimento, TJ Cimfel, Dave White, Gregg Bishop, Nacho Vigalondo, Justin Benson, Aaron Moorehead and Lincoln wrote the screenplays.

Epic Pictures Group will commence sales in Cannes. Epic sold the V/H/S franchise in Berlin 2012 following a suitably controversial tee-up in Sundance that year when several audience members fainted during the world premiere.

I might be a minority with this, but I want my 97 minutes back.

CHUCKLES THE CLOWN delves into Jake's fear of clowns and gives him even more reason to be afraid of them.

NO ONE LIVES FOREVER follows Jacob as he narrowly avoids a fatal accident though finds out there's more to it than he thought.

Lol, that's how I felt after the second one. EVERYONE seems to love the second one and I don't get it since I only really cared for one second (and even that one had a lame ending). Its also odd how some people despise the first but love the second. O_o

I'm not really a big fan of any of them I liked parts of the first one and parts of the second. If they combined those parts it would probably be a movie that I'd really like. I guess I do lean a bit to the second because I enjoyed the segment with the eye. I found nothing in the 3rd one.

I know I should probably be making plans to watch this, but...I really don't feel like it. Someone else needs to watch it and tell me (or lie to me and say) I'll like it.

I really want to be excited for this but after the disappointing second one I'm not. >_< Still going to watch it if I can even find it though.

It feels a lot more slight than the other films. It definitely has a much lighter tone than the earlier films. I guess one of the films were a dud and got cut, so it feels unfinished.

Vicious Circles: This is the framing one. It does not work to frame the movie at all. The tone is all over the place. It doesn't really tie the whole series together like I think they were hoping it would. It brought the whole film down a bit. If it was the last segment or was even just split into two parts, it might have ended up being really good. The way it's presented, it is way too hard to keep track of what is going on.

Dante the Great: This was really good, and I think this one is my favorite. This one strayed from being only found footage, but it has some very nice effects. The lead actor was really great.

Parallel Monsters: This was a really cool concept. I did not see any of the twists coming. The way things were revealed and all the stuff they left us guessing about was very effective. It's a very good segment, too.

Bonestorm: I could have done without all the scenes without anything scary happening. All of them. It's still well made, and the effects are all good. Having just watched a different found footage film that used GoPro cameras and a similar reason for filming, I was pretty impressed with what they were able to do with this.

The end credits are really amazing.

Blah@the light tone. :/

And didn't a segment in the second film use GoPro cameras too?

Oh well, I'll still watch it. I hope I like it more than the second one.

I don't think they tried to have a lighter tone, but it ended up that way. The second segment is the most serious, but it's more twisty and intriguing. The first has darker moments, but it's mostly just fun. The last one has a lot of gore, but it's more of a comedy. The framing one could have made the movie more serious, but it didn't work when it was chopped up between the other segments.

The segment with the GoPro cameras in this one was a lot more ambitious than the one in the second film. This one manages to be pretty stylish actually.

Good! Having only one funny, dumb segment is a relief since the second film had like three segments that I didn't care for much at all.

I wish the promotion for this movie would finally be over soon. It feels like it is going to go on forever.

Admittedly, these posters are pretty great, but I am still tired of this movie.

There's also this one which isn't very good, and another that is good but too spoiler-y.

The comments on the second one are pretty great, but I have a hard time understanding why you would make a poster that features something from the very end of the segment.

It is probably a really good thing that I went into this with VERY low expectations. I actually ended up enjoying it and there wasn't a single segment that I disliked. As a whole, it's not that great and it was a bit too short, but each individual segment had good things that outweighed the bad. I just wish they'd kept the deleted segment (anyone know why it was cut?) and instead of going back and forth with the wraparound story, it should've just bookended it (with ten minutes in the beginning and 10-15 minutes at the end).

Viscious Circles was actually one of my favorite segments. Sure, I didn't care about ANY of the characters (not even the main guy, sorry) but it was very entertaining, violent, chaotic (the fact that many people in the path of the ice cream truck became involved and sucked into...whatever it was doing...was pretty awesome), and wellpaced. I really liked the BBQ bit but the taxi cab scene was even better. One part that really stuck with me was the 'road dragging scene.' Robby and I were both cringing and freaking out like that. OUCH! Overall, it was pretty fun but would've worked more as a segment of its own or as a bookend sort of thing.

Dante The Great was pretty good though I'm not sure why they ditched the found footage aspect. It sort of threw things off. Of course, in a regular anthology I wouldn't mind, but since this is meant to be a fund footage anthology, it was pretty weird. Welborn gave a pretty good performance, the cape stuff was pretty cool (I wonder if Houdini
Spoiler: click to toggle
), and some of the deaths were gnarly. I liked some of the 'tricks' as well; with the 'suit switch' being my favorite.

Parallel Monsters was easily my favorite. It started off weird and...kind of dumb but once the 'world switch' happened, it got pretty intense and insane, capped off with a wonderfully brutal ending. I'm not sure how I feel about the
Spoiler: click to toggle
but everything else worked well! Even the faces were kind of neat, haha. This one felt more dark and in line with the first film than any of the others.

Bonestorm was good ol' mindless fun full of 'zombies', skull bashing, skateboarding, and exploding bodies. ALL of the characters annoyed the hell out of me but I was still rooting for them just because the situation was so crazy and would be scary as fuck to be caught in. (shock) I agree with Vanessa that the pre-Horror scenes weren't all that necessary. they could've shaved off at least two minutes from the opening of this segment and it would've still been okay.

Parallel Monsters > Dante The Great > Vicious Circles (not a good wraparound but still a good segment) > Bonestorm

Overall;

6/10 quality, 7.5/10 entertainment

Nowhere near as good as the first but better than the second. If they make a fourth and it's at least as decent as this was, I'll be okay with it. But if they churn out something else like the second? Meh.

NOW CAN THEY PLEASE STOP PROMOTING THIS EVERYWHERE?! (lol)

It seems like the deleted segment was made, because members of the cast talked about it. I don't see how they could think they could get away with releasing an unfinished version of the movie and adding the deleted segment for DVD and blu-ray releases, but that's the rumor. It would give them something new to add to the seemingly never fucking ending hype machine for this movie, so I wouldn't exactly be shocked.

The most disappointing thing about Vicious Circles is that if you watch it mostly as a single piece (like if some of the video clips you were going to use to make gifs didn't work and you had to go record them again), it becomes 100X better. It feels a bit padded when watched that way, but it works together as a really good story.
