This shit’s gonna go viral.

ScreenDaily was the first to report on V/H/S Viral, which will complete our V/H/S trilogy.

We’re excited to reveal that the latest installment of the franchise features segments directed by Marcel Sarmiento (Deadgirl, the incredible The ABCs of Death segment “D Is for Dogfight”) ), Nacho Vigalondo (Timecrimes, Extraterrestrial), Gregg Bishop (The Other Side, Dance of the Dead), Todd Lincoln (The Apparition), Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead (Resolution, Spring).

“V/H/S Viral focuses on fame-obsessed teens who unwittingly become stars of the next internet sensation.“

Justin Welborn and Emmy Argo are among the cast.

Marcel Sarmimento, TJ Cimfel, Dave White, Gregg Bishop, Nacho Vigalondo, Justin Benson, Aaron Moorehead and Lincoln wrote the screenplays.

Epic Pictures Group will commence sales in Cannes. Epic sold the V/H/S franchise in Berlin 2012 following a suitably controversial tee-up in Sundance that year when several audience members fainted during the world premiere.

to be perfectly honest, Vicious Circles is one of those rare entries that would've actually worked as a film of it's own. Only four of five VHS trilogy segments (with Safe Haven and Dante The Great being the first two that come to mind) are like that. As it is, it's great on its own but shouldn't have been split up so much. I really liked that we got to see what was happening all around the city (cab, guys on bikes, main guy, bridge, party/bbq) and it would've been neat to see more. Maybe a restaurant, hospital, school sporting event, etc? The possibilities are actually limitless which is really cool.

I've heard the deleted segment will be on the BluRay as a special feature which sucks. I like that we can still see it but I'd prefer if they released an extended version of the film with it added in.

As it is;

VHS = 117 minutes or so.
VHS 2 -= 97 minutes.
VHS Viral = 81 minutes.

Very unbalanced. (un)

Bloody Disgusting has been constantly harassing everyone with articles about the missing segment being a hidden track on the dvd and blu-ray releases. They've been making sure that everyone knows that the one they haven't seen is supposedly the best one.

They did at least share another cool poster.

Ew at the running time. I hate when sequels become increasingly shorter than the last.

What really bugs me about it is that people paid to see a shorter version of the movie. They never should have released it without the missing segment. I'm glad that it's going to be released, but they're making people pay twice to see the same movie. It's even more shameful than when they release an unrated dvd right after everyone has just bought the theatrical version.

Thankfully I watched it online so I won't have to double dip with this. I'll just buy the Unrated version. Or watch that online too out of spite. (chew) The least they could've done is put the extended version with the missing segment on Netflix. They just added the 81 minute version. (un)

I seriously have no idea what I watched. As someone who enjoyed the hell out of the first film, it is so sad to see how fucking bad and insipid this series has become. It's almost like they've decided to throw out any sense of good film making and just go for cheap laughs and kills. This movie felt like nothing but train wreck after train wreck and none of it made any sense. The wrap around story was weak, disjointed, and confusing as fuck. L.A. breaking out into madness, a runaway ice scream truck, annoying bike riding douchebags, and death causing cellphones? Didn't get it, don't want to get it.

The first "segment" was plagued by some terrible acting, I mean TERRIBLE, but even through that I at least managed to be entertained by the sadistic magician. Still a dud but it was OK. The second segment was creepy and reminded me a lot of the first movie- It was over the top as well, but I still managed to enjoy it, probably because the acting seemed stronger in that one. The story about the skateboarders and that weird cult of "things" was OK but I totally felt like that segment left us hanging.

Overall, I enjoyed this more than 2, but I was still let down. I'm definitely not watching another V/H/S film. They ruined what could have been a solid and innovative trilogy.

5/10- Mainly because I was at least entertained.

^ That's *sort of* how I feel too, though I don't hate it as much as you seemed to and I actually really liked how chaotic and crazy the wraparound story was (even if it didn't make TOTAL sense, lol). It's a shame they cut what was supposedly the best segment of the bunch (I'll watch it, let you know how it is, and if it's good, I'll tell you to watch it :P ). I definitely liked it more than the second film (it appears me and you are the only ones) but it's nothing compared to the first.

Overall, I was very disappointed in this one after how much I liked both 1 and 2 (With two being the better one... Sorry, Jonathan.)

Vicious Cycles/Wraparound story:
I think the wraparound story involving the pandemonium and the guy on the bicycle was certainly more interesting than the wraparound story in V/H/S/2, which was basically just a carbon copy of the wraparound story in V/H/S (which wasn't even that good to begin with), but I think a lot of it could have been cut out, as too much happened.
Spoiler: click to toggle
I still enjoyed it overall, and I found the ideas behind the wraparound story very interesting, particularly when compared to the first two.)

Now let me discuss the segments themselves.

Dante the Great:
Let me start by saying, I really did enjoy this skit. I thought it was creative, interesting, and fun. With that said, it did not feel like it belonged in the V/H/S anthology. It felt more like something out of Charmed or Doctor Who. It wasn't really horror to me, despite the demonic presence of the blanket. At best, it felt like something from the later seasons of Tales from the Crypt.

Parallel Monsters:
This was the best segment... Up until the end. I thought the idea of a parallel universe in which

. I also thought the idea of being able to meet yourself from an alternate universe to be a really interesting idea to make a short film out of... And then the end happened. The ideas mentioned before were groovy and interesting by themselves... There really was no need for
Spoiler: click to toggle
. I still thought the fact that the very end where
Spoiler: click to toggle
was a cool way to show how the man's life paralleled itself in each universe. I just wish they hadn't gone so over-the-top with the ridiculousness of it all.

Bonestorm:
Oh gosh... What can I say about Bonestorm? Oddly cute cast of gross, stinky, stoner skater boys that were enjoyable to listen to simply because they were so typical cliche skateboardy types. And I thought some of the violence was pretty cool towards the end... But that's about all the good I can say. It was pointless, boring, and uncreative.

Overall, I was very disappointed in V/H/S: Viral, but as much as I liked the first two, neither of them were anything brilliant, so I'm not too surprised this one was pretty lame... I still expected it to be on par with the first two, though. (But it's hard for really any of them to compare to Safe Haven, which is, in my opinion, the best segment of all three films)

Overall, I'd give it a 5/10 at best. It kept me interested, but it wasn't something I'll likely ever seek out to watch again.

I honestly would like a full-length version of the wraparound story, though, as that was very creative and interesting, and would make a very cool idea for a full movie.

The party is definitely what I would want them to cut out of Vicious Circles. In addition to what you mentioned under the spoiler, it also doesn't have a strong enough tie to the rest of it. It's too separate for a scene in a wrap around story.

Don't get me wrong, both of the scenes that feel out of place ARE very, very entertaining in their own right... I just don't feel they belong because it made the wraparound feel very, very, very unfocused.

Even worse than VHS 2. Moving even further away from the original concept of the movie... I don't know why "Dante the Great" was even part of this, since most of it is filmed just like a regular movie. However, it actually has a story, making it the "best" of an abysmal lot. "Bonestorm"...what's this? Did I accidentally switch to MTV Jackass? Wait, I don't have cable TV. My god, this segment was interminable. You have to sit through what feels like hours of boring skater footage before anything at all happens. "Parallel Monsters"...somewhat predictable (I knew the wife was in danger as soon as the guy said to his double "sure, go have a look around my house, btw my wife is in the bedroom.") This segment did have one creepy moment when the zeppelin appeared. As for the framing story it made no sense to me whatsoever.

I can't wait for this I just hope it is still gonna be multi-story with a variety because that is what I love about V/H/S films I was shocked how open it was with V/H/S 2 compare with first one with Zombies, Aliens, Mythology Creatures but it still works I'm very curious how this end up and new TRAILER LOOK AMAZING WATCH IT! I'm so excited
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pZMebnH0mgA
^^^^^ I cannot believe I said that I brought on DVD and what a disappointment The Main story didn't make sense even the multi-story didn't even sense or even ended the story in right way like wow it was so bad to me it nearly made me cry granted I did like the story about the Magician and that Parallel Universe but rest were crap. and The Skateboard one thats the worst story in the film and that was the one I was looking forward to the most.

I regret saying what I said before though I really did like the Credit Music :P but it doesn't beat V/H/S 2 song with The Death Set - 6 Different Ways To Die.

To be honest They need to bring back Adam Wingard and do what they did on V/H/S 2 hire some talented Directors because V/H/S 2 fantastic directors Simon Barrett who is a talent writer who wrote You're Next and upcoming I saw the Devil remake, Adam Wingard is an awesome director who knows horror films.
Eduardo Sánchez and Gregg Hale from Blair Witch Project, Gareth Huw Evans who did The Raid and
Jason Eisener who did Hobo With A Shotgun.

Its like a Greatest Hits Directors I hope they do a 4th one with Adam Wingard and Simon Barrett and get some real Directors

Now that I don't have websites reminding me that there is another segment that I didn't get to see, I had completely forgotten about it until opening the thread. I probably could have got it through Netflix at some point between then and now.

I keep meaning to buy this on Blu Ray. It's such a delirious and absurd film that betrays the franchise and yet I love it more and more everytime I watch. It's a strange beast that deserves the hate it receives from others but man do I find it to be a blast to experience.
