^I haven't come up with a theory yet, but I did notice that the only other movie that the production company responsible for this has done is Joy Ride 3. I guess their thing is reviving unlikely series.

I was with someone that wanted to see this.

Shockingly, this is not good. I'm a little suspicious that the script started out as a stand-alone movie, because there's a lot of stuff that doesn't make sense. Satan wasn't exactly a genius in the first movie, but I have no idea what his plan is in this. Nothing that happens between the movies makes sense, and it kind of undoes the ending of the first movie. They reference the first movie all the time, but they make mistakes, like saying that Molly wasn't a straight-A student before the first movie started. The movie also has a massively unsexy threesome. There wasn't anything good about this.

^ Ew. (wary) I randomly saw a little 15 second teaser for this. In theaters. Right before Crimson Peak.

That's random.

I think the biggest part that made me think this was not originally intended as a sequel is that they introduced a new way of possessing people and used it to make Molly more possessed, because she apparently wasn't already possessed before. That entire point of the first movie was that she had been sold to Satan.

They compared it to pregnancy like it would magically make sense just because they showed a pregnant lady at the beginning of the movie.

Given how much I hated the first one, I'm not at all surprised that this movie is worthless.

This was just added to Netflix and I am about to watch. I expect it this to be really bad but am excited to see what the hell happens to Molly.

This is one of the most random and bizarre sequels ever. I've only seen a grand total of two people in my life who didn't despise the first one

Puppy, just because there's no evidence she killed her aunt doesn't make her dating material.

The more that I think about it the more convinced I am that the script was written with no intention of having it be a sequel. I am not sure why anyone would think that the Molly Hartley name is a good one to cash in on, but that's definitely what happened. All they would have to do is add a couple lines and some new scenes at the beginning.

That would make sense since they couldn't even get the same no-name actress for this. It's just... Off all the movies to pull a Hellraiser with, MOLLY HARTLEY!?! Who thought that was marketable?

Well...we also got a sequel to Knock Knock (the random slasher, not the Eli Roth one) that had NOTHING to do with the first. And then there's the Dark Harvest sequels so...stranger, more random sequels have happened. And they all suck. (lol)

Those were all standalone films that were retitled into being part of a franchise to add a little bit of credibility (literally all they had to do was change a title card, DVD menu, and video cover. That's extremely cheap). Which actually isn't the worst plan when no one has even HEARD of these movies. It can fool people into thinking there might be a fanbase when people don't know anything about them. In contrast, Molly Hartley is infamously abysmal. And this doesn't have a 2 at the end, so the only people who knows its a sequel are those who know 1 exists.... And they all know 1 sucks
