Sounding a bit like Last Action Hero- the tale of the grieving daughter of a 1980s scream queen who finds herself trapped in her mother’s most famous film. The women are reunited and must fight off the film’s maniacal killer before the daughter can return to her life.”

Production is scheduled to commence in Louisiana in April.

A trailer for this just premiered. It's coming out in October.

Between that trailer and the, by all accounts, awesome reviews this got when they showed it at SXSW, I'm definitely excited for this.

^I'm really glad to see that. The posters for this had been really boring and plain.

I love that poster<3. I also think this looks like a lot of fun, but like Jared said...they really didn't need to make this PG-13. That's fucking stupid. PG13 ratings work for 'semi-slashers/thrillers' like Cry Wolf that don't need much violence and are more about the story than the kills. This? This is a supposed love letter to the 80s and slashers in general. No nudity, gore, etc for us and these hard partying teens won't be able to smoke much weed and they'll have to watch their mouth (only one or two 'f-words' kids! *smacks with newspaper*)

Despite that, I'm still mostly excited.

If the movie's entertaining enough, I can forgive a PG-13 rating... but given the genre, an R would've certainly been preferable.

That said, that poster is amazing.

It better expand to other theaters - like 200 more at least - or I'll be even more annoyed at the PG-13 rating. Why water something like a Slasher/Fantasy combo down for 'mainstream audiences' if 'mainsteam audiences' won't be the ones driving a half hour or longer to see it (they won't, probably). (coffee)

I wouldnt worry too much about it. From what I'm reading, this is hardly a slasher parody at all, and most of the movie is just about the mother/daughter relationship between Taissa and Malin.

(un) ! Ew.

I'm all for Horror films crossing into other genres and stuff, but they should've at least saved the "The Final Girls" title for a real slasher/slasher parody if that's true.

So I pretty much just finished it about 5 minutes ago, and I.......honestly loved it (wary) I never thought I was going to hate it, but I had my doubts about it, and especially since I dont like Taissa Farmiga, but she surprisingly wasnt bad or annoying. Let me start by saying anyone who is worried about the PG-13 rating, dont be. Yes there is very little blood, and it isnt all that violent, but it never felt watered down, if that makes sense.

Any slasher film fan (with a sense of humor) should watch this. Yes it's more of a comedy/drama set in a slasher film setting, but it never felt like it was lacking, and I really have no idea what those people were talking about when they said the killer was hardly in it.

I loved it, too. It's more funny and silly than scary or gory, but I laughed quite a bit. I probably would have wore out a VHS tape of this if it had come out when I was 11, which isn't a bad thing, but I don't think it's what a lot of reviewers were expecting. It's more of a comedy with people getting killed as a bonus.

It's actually pretty clever, and I enjoyed the cinematography a lot. They do a lot of fun and imaginative stuff. It isn't one of those parodies that are constantly just referencing things. It's also more affectionate than ironic. I loved the sets, especially the fake flowers they put all over the forest. The cast has really good chemistry, and I like that they managed to give everyone something to do. I'm not much of a fan of Malin Akerman or Taissa Farmiga, but they're both good in this. Their scenes were sweet. The actress that plays Tina stole the whole movie.
