Loner Veronica is new to school, shy and vulnerable the perfect target for a group of teenage boys who lure girls into the woods to hunt and kill them for sport. It’s only after they get her alone that she turns the tables on them, escaping and revealing she’s armed and knows how to defend herself. Little do they know, Veronica is an assassin-in-training, and she’s chosen killing these boys as her final test. When the dust clears, Veronica will find out if she can be the final girl these boys ever have a chance to hurt.

I have to disagree with you on most things. I thought this was actually really good. Certainly not one of the best of the year, or even in my top twenty, but I still enjoyed it more than I thought I would. I actually thought Abigail did a better job in 80 minutes here than she has in the entire first season of Scream Queens. She didn't give a GREAT performance here but the character herself was interesting enough to hold my interest and I really liked her style. I expected Wes Bentley to have a bigger role and I was kind of disappointed that he didn't get TOO much to do. I liked him when he was around though.

The guys all took turns stealing the show. Of course, the main reason my eyes were always glued to Jameson = Alexander Ludwig is insanely attractive and I now have a bit of a crush on him. (lol) I loved Daniel's crazy self. The 'axe dance' was great and he was deliciously psychotic. Nelson was pretty weird and not all that exciting of a character but I liked the 'mommy issues.' Shane was alright I guess. He was kind of dull until his big scene but he had a couple of good moments earlier in the film. I didn't mind Shane's girlfriend either. Her scene at the diner with Veronica was nice.

I liked the forest setting and how things were lit. Some parts of this were really gorgeous. The actual kills weren't anything special and I wish we had gotten at least one or two more scenes of the guys hunting down victims (I wanted to see more that'd make me HATE them more, honestly) instead of just

The deaths all matched the characters which was nice. There were a few too many dialogue scenes but they were usually decent enough to not bore me. I wish the big ending had lasted longer though.

6/10 quality, 7/10 entertainment.

I watched it before Scream Queens started. I wasn't expecting her to be so terrible in that.

Ah, maybe that's why I was pleasantly surprised in this. I expected her to be WAY below average in this but she was actually pretty decent, especially when taking her age into account. Of course, there are many ten year olds who are better at acting than she is in either thing but still. She was good. :P

Watched this earlier this evening. I tend to always love survival horror films, revenge horror films, and films where the victim turns the table on the villains, and this film seemed like it would be just those things in one nice, little platter... And it was.

Everyone seems to be hating on this movie, and I'm not sure why. It's not a perfect movie, and there are some incredibly ridiculous aspects of it, but aesthetically, this movie is absolutely beautiful. I've never been a huge fan of Tyler Shields, as I'm not that crazy about photography as an art form, but this film looked absolutely beautiful. It seemed almost as if every single shot of the film was planned out from its use of color, lighting, imagery, makeup, etc. For a lower budget film, they did a fantastic job using the cinematography to create an almost surreal experience.

I also loved that it had an almost 1940s/perhaps 50s feel to it. From the fact that a lot of the film takes place in a diner, to the classic beauty style that Abigail Breslin had in the movie, to the lack of cell phones, to the old-fashioned cars, to the music, and lastly, to how the gang of teenage boys looked and acted... Everything just felt very noir, very classic. Once again, this is all aesthetics we're talking about, but as a film that chooses style over substance, it did a great job with all of these things.

I also found most of the characters intriguing. It was surprising to see Cameron Bright in a film like this. I remember when he was a kid, he did a lot of weirder films, such as Running Scared, Ultraviolet, and that weird clone horror flick, Godsend, so it's cool to see him return to horror. Alexander Ludwig was pretty decent as the leader of the group. It's surprising he's good at being menacing, since I just watched him be so derpy and cutesy in THE FUNNY GIRLS just the other night. Shows he has some good range about him.

My favorite of the bad guys, though, had to be Danny-Boy. The actor totally camped it up with him, making him a 1950s greaser boy cliche, but at the same time genuinely psychotic. He basically was a representation of what Stu from Scream would be if Scream were set in the 50s. I loved the weird little things he did as a character, such as nibble on his axe while in the car, giggle uncontrollably throughout, and just act straight up insane. He really brought a lot of camp and humor to the role, while the other actors played it so straight. It really made him stand out.

I was also quite impressed with Abigail Breslin. She gets a lot of crap from people, but this film proved she actually is capable of good work, and that she really does have the skills to carry a film.

The fight scenes were decently choreographed, and I liked the surreal, trippy nature of them.

I also liked the weird sexual tension between Veronica and her trainer, played by the (always handsome) Wes Bentley. I knew I shouldn't find it sexy since he's been training her since she was a child, but there was so much tension there, you could cut through it like butter.

Overall, a good film. It chooses style over substance, which is something you'd expect from a movie directed by someone who is only otherwise known for photography, but it does this well enough to create an 85-minute thrill ride that will keep you interested, if not hypnotized by its use of color and tone.

Grade: B+

This is going to be added to Netflix on March 15th.

I think I might actually like this less with time. It's in a race with Wrecker to determine which one is more almost embarrassingly derivative.

I really didn't find this terribly derivative. Derivative plot done better in other films such as Hanna and You're Next? Sure. But the film's style was incredibly admirable and made it unique enough that I forgave its thin plot.

I thought the style was also really derivative. A lot of it was just mixing stuff lifted from David Lynch with splashes of A Clockwork Orange. Stylistically, I like Lost River's attempt to make a David Lynch movie more, because it borrowed stuff I like better.

I saw it and liked it okay I guess. It was enjoyable enough to watch while cleaning. The script was really weak, the acting was not necessarily bad but it was directed in way that can be turn off to others. I actually liked most of the performances though.

Abigail Breslin acted and looked way better here than in Scream Queens. She didn't deliver an amazing performance but was pretty good overall, although she doesn't ultimately doesn't pull off the "trained killer" role or maybe it really was the way the character was written.

Watched it tonight, and while I liked it, me and my friend kept laughing at how miscast Abigail was. I have no idea how anyone would even consider her in that role, but I guess. It's always nice seeing Wes Bentley.
