Probably just crazy, since there was no mention of a creature, but who knows.

Sounds great. I hope it's them going crazy rather than creatures or monsters.

Oh lord have mercy...

I hope this isn't releasing this month or something since well...a couple hundred people just died in a mine collapse a week or two ago. (wary) I know this isn't capitalizing on that though, so I'M not 'offended' or whatever but some people just aren't bright at all and will think this is exploiting the real tragedy (eyeroll)

I think I'll probably pass on this one. I think I would regret watching it, because I know too many people that work in mines.

Free fangoria screening in new york next tuesday.

http://www.fangoria.com/new/nyc-free-fango-screening-of-new-chiller-beneath/

It's inspired by true events.
Here's a bigger synopsis.

BENEATH’s official synopsis reads: “At a coal mine in a blue-collar town, it’s the last day of work for veteran miner George Marsh (Fahey). His daughter Samantha (Noonan), a feisty environmental lawyer whose politics are bitterly opposed by her father, celebrates the occasion by accompanying him underground. She’s escorted by old flame Randy Bennings (Kern). No sooner do they descend to the coal face, however, than a drilling machine malfunctions and punches through a supporting wall. A cave-in kills several workers and several others go missing. The crew foreman, Mundy (Briscoe), is grievously injured. The shocked survivors retreat to a claustrophobic rescue chamber. While they wait for surface workers to reach them, they hear terrifying, almost-human sounds from the bowels of the mine. After arguing among themselves, they leave the chamber to discover the noises’ source. Their frenzied efforts find nothing—except evidence of a similar disaster more than 90 years ago.

“Meanwhile, Samantha begins experiencing horrific visions. Several of the men panic, are separated from the group and murdered—gruesomely—by unseen assailants. As the air runs out and the death count rises, those who remain fight to separate their worst fears from reality.”

I saw this with Marvin today.
It's not a creature film. It's all supernatual and has some possession elements to it. It was decent but not as good as I hoped. There's jump scares but none personally effective me.
It might be scary for those who are claustrophobic or have experiences in mines of course. The acting was great and there's some gore in it. There's nothing much to say about it really. I mean it's worth a watch, but not worth a buy honestly.
It's on VOD now and will be on DVD july 25.

The lack of black people made me giggle a little. But yeah, not that great of a film to me. Nothing exactly stood out, most things were predictable, and I almost fell asleep halfway through (mostly because stress and being tired from work, so I can't completely blame the movie).

Lol There was one time where they did the "grave encounters" face. It didn't look dumb tho.

This is a bit selfish of me, but I'm kind of glad it isn't that good, since I don't intend on watching this.

I was surprised by how good this was even if its not one of the best of 2014 or anything. It had some pretty good performances(and it actually took me like ten minutes to recognize Jeff Fahey, lol) and there was a nice sense of dread - for a while, anyway. It had more violence than I thought it would, so that was nice. I also expected it to be some Descent ripoff with tunnel creatures and once they mentioned the nineteen dead (and never found) miners from years back I rolled my eyes, assuming they had become monstrous and used to the darkness or some lameness like that. Thankfully, this was entirely human based. The hallucinations were pretty disturbing but there were several too many so they became ineffective by the third act. The death order wasn't much of a surprise at all and there were a few characters who kept disappearing and reappearing randomly, which was frustrating. I also wish they'd went further with everyone becoming more and more violent and deranged as time went on. The Divide this was not!

Still, it was mostly enjoyable, I was never bored, and I was left feeling pretty satisfied overall. Imo, it's worth checking out as long as you don't expect a brilliant movie. :P

6.5/10 quality. 7/10 entertainment.
